I gotta tell you. I like the hire a lot. I think we’re going to see a productive, fun, aggressive offense. I can’t wait to see what he draws up against his former team. Don’t be optimistic. The trolls will eat you alive. Bahahhhaha

This is a good hire. The first hire Judge has made that caught my attention. The former Alabama and Patriots were enough for me. Why is it a good hire? He brings experience, 20 years total and 12 years with the Cowboys as a head coach and OC. Princeton graduate, he’s a smart guy. It’s good to have guys who can learn quick and are smart. Former player, he can relate to players being he was one, and he understands what makes them tick. Understands pressure, coached in Dallas, one of the toughest jobs in all of the NFL. Has coached in the NFC East, so he knows this division very well. Lots of good things to like about this hire. Instead of nitpicking of what he did in Dallas, look at what he brings to the table. Experience, class, and an understanding of how to coach in this league. Nice post. I agree with all of this.

I was exhausted yesterday after a long week, turned in right around when the news broke, so this is my first comments. I would not have been happy with Garrett as head coach, I don't think he's up to that. As OC, I'll give him benefit of the doubt for now. He has done really good work with multiple young QBs (Tony and Dak), and has always had his offense running pretty smoothly. He had to do quite a bit of shuffling of the O Line the last 2 years with injuries, and for the most part gets a ton out of his running game. With Judge as a first time head coach, its not a bad thing to have someone on the staff with that kind of experience either.
If the rumors that he will help recruit Bill Callahan as O Line coach makes the pair of them a very good hire in my opinion.

I look at it this way.
He has successfully game planned against the Giants for at least a decade so he knows their weaknesses and how to beat them. Now hopefully he can help fix what’s wrong.

Say it ain't so Joe I'm not going to sit here for the next 8 years with Cowboys fans running up our noses about how shitty the Giants are with their former coach Garrett at the helm. If Mara hires him I might well be done with this team. That was for HC before Judge was hired. I'm not sure I like him as OC but at least its not HC.

IMHO, Great Hire Garrett can help ease many of the growing pains for both Judge & D. Jones.
Now freed from J. Jones hovering & buttin in, Garrett will get this offense humming.

Oh my god. Everyone needs to stop this. Mara literally said it's Joe's decision. We are bringing a version of the Saints offense to our stadium. The textbook defitition of multiple. This is great news. I can see the rest of the guys, but Garrett is the one that doesnt look like the others. Garret is what the Giants do. Giants connection, experience. All of the other coach choices are NE Pats or not much if any experience. Just smells like a Mara move.If I'm wrong I'm wrong. and if it is? I bet it was a mutual decision

if he is successful with the NYgs then he will no doubt be looking for another HC gig.
if he is good for the NYGs they need to keep him here for at least two to three years. Get some stability

I still would've preferred someone else as OC, but, if Judge chose him, I will support it, because I am behind Judge 100%.

Just a few opinions/observations: DJ should prosper working with Garrett and his new QB coach. Barkley should benefit from the RB coach with big resume'. Garrett has to be licking his chops thinking about working with a TE tandem like Engram and Kaden Smith. Lets not forget the key Giants that came from other organizations-some hated rivals: Everson Walls was a longtime Cowboy but was a valuable vet who got a ring with NYG, Sam Madison, RW McQuarters, and Sean O'Hara all came to NYG to get their rings. As did Baas, Mitchell, and Pierce(an ex Redskin!). Many here still hold Spags in high regard--he was groomed with the hated Eagles! It is said it's not how you start its how you finish. Maybe Garrett gets HIS ring with NYG. When push comes to shove, once they don the NYG logo it all changes for us.

Love it! An experienced hand with intimate knowledge of the NFC East. Very smart guy out of Princeton, ties to the Giants. Not a back stabbing guy. Easy move his wife is a lawyer, no kids. If you want to fault him for one thing, he drives a Tesla. UGH!

Callahan and Linehan will follow if that happens it would make the Garrett hire a whole lot better..

I have always been of the opinion that a big part of what's been wrong with our O line has been a lack of good quality coaching and maybe someone like Bill Callahan can fix that..

I have mixed feelings about Garrett as OC, but I'm willing to give him a chance. But at least he isn't the HC, because that wouldn't have been a good move.

Callahan is a good OL coach. Dallas OL performance was not as good after he left.
As a Cowboy fan I thought I'd come on here and state some of JG's weaknesses I perceived in Dallas but I remembered this video I saw about a month ago and Chris Simms stated it pretty well. Now a lot of this pertains to JG as a HC and his systems but y'all can glean out the stuff on offense. The Analyst touched on JG's game planning and this video will reinforce it. Garrett drove me crazy with his lack of creativity. He is a product of the early 90's Cowboys when they just lined up and whipped the man in front of them and that's not today's watered down, parity infused NFL. That was his problem in Dallas. Look at their record ... for the most part they whipped weaker less talented teams and got whipped by better talent and coaching.

My biggest question is why did the Dallas offense take off under Moore after Garrett was calling the plays for years? Exactly.
