I've watched Bama maybe 4 times this year. And Smith has been a bullet for the Tide each time. He has monster numbers at halftime and every team is keying on him. The first time you see him you see his thin frame and you say he might not hold up. It's natural I did it too. But then you keep watching this kid and his talent just over takes you. Tyreek Hill was thought to be to small to hold up the first couple times you've seen him too, probably ? Smith would be like finding a treasure if he lasts till the 11th pick. Personally I think Miami grabs him at #3 to team him back up with Tua. They already have played together, instant results. Davonte is fun to watch, but I Do NOT want him @11 and hope he is off the board before then. Miami should take Penei Sewell @3 if he's there. No brainer.

I'm more in the camp with GL that you really should only trade up in the first like that for QB or Edge Rusher, but I get it.

There are exceptions to every rule, but trading up in general is not my thing. In this particular case, WR isn't our only need. It may be the biggest, but we have other positions to address as well.

Now the discussion is to trade up for a WR..
You have to laugh at Banks this time it's like he hasn't been paying attention to the history of Getty..

Don't know if I said this yet (in here )but we can probably write off Patrick Surtain ll as well
Other than I think 2 plays he resembled a shut down corner...
I actually think he might not get past Philly (if they don't go O line .i have a hard time seeing them doing WR after taking a WR in the first last year and the 2nd in 2019 plus Fulgham..)
If he somehow gets past them then his "slide" probably stops at Dallas

Seems for you it's a WR or CB that are the best possible use for that #11 pick..

My outleir is kinda 2 players that play the same position Parsons ..or a guy many of us watched from Tulsa names Zevon Collins..6'4 250 lb athletic freak that at times played like a free safety and at times came off the edge or played a traditional MLB role at a very high level. Right now he has a high 2nd round grade but he was a day 3 prospect as recently as November He could fly up boards

They must get at least 1 really good WR and I still think the oline could use a couple of upgrades..

The only thing that will matter is who has a great senior bowl game. Yep, we all know that the Giants organization and Gettlemen just love the Senior Bowl standouts. lol

The guy is a string bean and that concerns me like many others here. He is also an explosive play maker.
Help me out with this. Other than Randy Moss are there any modern day receivers that skinny who were big hits in the NFL?

Guys that I can think of that I'd say are similar build to Davonte Smith that are or have been some level of "good": DeSean Jackson Emmanuel Sanders Robby Anderson (taller than Davonte but skinny)

Other than Randy Moss are there any modern day receivers that skinny who were big hits in the NFL? People compare him to Marvin Harrison size-wise. If you look back on top 10 WR picks that weren’t physical size and/or speed freaks like Calvin Johnson or Andre Johnson the results weren’t very good

Antonio Brown is small - 5'10 listed at about 185lb, probably the most dominant WR over the past decade. Scouting report called him thin, small, and lazy.

All the top young receivers in the NFL right now are 6' plus. Ruggs, the only sub 6' receiver in the rookie class has been the least impressive. Not saying there aren't good receivers on the smaller side, but if you have a choice, and we do, I'd rather go big.

Wait until after the combine. College football holds back some WR's. More guys will emerge.

Davonte is fun to watch, but I Do NOT want him @11 and hope he is off the board before then. Miami should take Penei Sewell @3 if he's there. No brainer. I haven't read every post in this thread. Just curious why you don't like Smith? Size/Durability, or do you just not think that we should take WR quite that high? Yes, I am a tad concerned ré his durability & weight and fan over-reactions due to recency bias. Tho clearly a speedster I fear his stats were produced by the weak defensive showing of Ohio as much as his talent. Also, a good Tide oline allowed plenty of time for big vertical plays and no passes were covered well enough to display skill at contested or difficult catches, which would have been nice. That said, I think he'll be off the board before 11. Which is good because I'd prefer a premier EDGE or TE like Pitts. Elite QB, OT, Edge and CB positions will be plundered early but it's a deep WR class and very good ones are often available after the first round. At this point I just pray that whoever is chosen doesn't disappoint.

What for you done for me lately I guess.
Chase will be a far better pro. IMO.
Let someone take him and let Chase fall

Saturday, January 30. But I don't think we're getting Smith at 11 either. Both Devonte Smith & Najee Harris have accepted invites to play in the Senior Bowl. Not sure why. Not much to gain for Smith probably going in top 5 Harris as well but can improve his draft stock bec Etieeine of Clemson isnt playing in senior bowl
