Is it me or is the "jump" taken by Daniel Jones this season non-existent, or at the least very exaggerated? Through 6 games: 4 Passing TD's, 4 INT's, 5 fumbles I think if you employ the eyeball test you would have to conclude that DJ is a much better player. All his picks essentially came in his last game. He obviously had a dreadful game. It happens I guess.
His O line was decimated and so was his WR corps. Maybe that's an excuse. Maybe that's a reason. I'm not sure myself. But the reality is that he was playing very good football before this week.
100% agree and you are a major critic of results so this has weight. Name one QB that does any better after the 1st quarter....

Yeah, I’m not sold on DJ at all. I understand he started off by being put in a horrible situation where he was set up to fail (thanks to Gettleman) and it’s barely improved, if at all (thanks to Gettleman) but there are still some aspects of his game that rear their ugly head too often and it has nothing to do with the O line or WR’s. He’s consistently inconsistent.
Remember ho good he looked against Washington and how many people were praising him for having such a good game against one of the top defenses in the league? Guess what, Washington is currently dead last in passing defense. The Cowboys are 30th in passing defense, the Saints are ~22nd (we’re 21st), the Rams are 20th. So 4 out of the 6 teams he’s played are in the bottom third of the league in pass defense and 2 of them are dead last or close to dead last. All 4 are worse or very close to being worse than our own pass defense and we know how bad that is…let that sink in,
So in other words, I’m not impressed that DJ has “seemingly” progressed this year when the bulk of the teams he’s passed against are some of the worst in the league. Unfortunately, I don’t see an answer for QB in next years draft so I think they should build up the O line which sucks (thanks to Gettleman), Edge, TE, even CB at this point and set up the team for the next QB to succeed in from the get go. We’re not going anywhere for another 1-2 years anyways, so keep DJ and give up the farm for a QB we want in another year or two.
And has people have said, perhaps he would be better elsewhere, it would be almost impossible for ANY QB not to be better somewhere else and maybe he does turn out to be a franchise QB like a few examples given above but he could also be another Flacco or several other QB’s that never took off as expected. Is handing him a huge contract worth the gamble? As of now, I’m leaning towards no.

I am no expert but when I saw the 47 minute video of the game plays this jumped out at me: Daniel Jones is much better passing vertically than on crossing routes over the middle. Two turnovers in a row put Rams @nyg 10 and 14 yards resulting in quick TDs. Maybe DJ's lateral timing and/or peripheral vision cause failed plays and contribute to fumbles from pressure that he doesn't 'see coming'? The defense is then put in a hole, and playing too far off-ball to defend quick developing plays in compressed spaces. In short our offensive failures feed directly into and amplify our defensive woes..the worst of both worlds. Does this sound right.. ? definitely has an effect no doubt!!

I think Jones will be here next year and possible a 5th year. He had a real bad game with an offensive line playing terrible and only one good receiver after the 1st series.. Don't know what people want as a starting QB moving forward but I think we are stuck with Jones for a couple of more years.. We can argue all the time if he's good enough but I just don't see any viable options at least for next year.. well at least we can go ahead and build up the O line for who the next qb will be if he isn't here beyond that. So might turn out fine in the end

True, but the team around stinks and the offensive line hits nobody. Any good WR he has, is standing on the sideline in street clothes and the Offensive Coordinator is the worst in the NFL. That said, and as suggested by another poster, it is the new GM’s decision to make. I think he will choose to keep Jones and use the picks to build the offensive line….bringing in a new high pick QB to get slaughtered like Jones because of a horrid offensive line seems silly at this point. This team is so dysfunctional at this point that I wouldn't be angry at any drastic decision that management made to try to right the ship. I don't know if there is any rookie QB that can come in here and do well. I don't hate Jones and i don't love him. It's kind of a whatever at this point... I agree with this. There is so much dysfunction and injuries around him it's kind of hard to judge his performance. He certainly had a horrible game on Sunday, but again it seemed to have different ol from series to series and WRs I never heard of. Just look Josh Allens situation last year compared to what DJ is dealing with in his 3rd year. I neither love or hate him, but he's not getting what he needs to show what he can do.

Those stats look bad, but mostly because of one awful game. He has been playing his best ball this year. [br The bad game makes it look like bad optics The #notmyqb people conveniently have picked this week to come out of hiding but the facts are that actually up until Thomas went down he looked the part Hell,2nd drive he was moving around the pocket, eyes downfield feeling the pressure on a play and hit Shepard for a 1st down.... Rest of the game was a perfect storm of bad. No qb can function like that.. For those that say he sucks because he needs everything perfect? When has it been perfect this year? When has he had all his playmakers, running game and a healthy O line this year. When has he had someone who knew how to call plays inside tbe 10 that would allow for success? He carried the team on his back against New Orleans minus 2 good recievers Up until the 2nd quarter this past weekend he was playing at a high level with much lower than perfect around him . He's had one bad game out of 6, coming off a concussion, with third team receivers. Really, he’s had one bad game since last November. And as you said, some fans here had their "See, Jones sucks" posts ready to roll since the offseason. We can change the coach, GM, towel boys... Jones will be the QB through it all. This is not even a discussion, unless someone like Mahomes becomes available.

Everything needs to be perfect, for Jones to function. The NFL does not have that luxury. The Defense is paid to disrupt the offense, primarily the QB. I don't think this is true. As rookie with far worse talent, the kid threw a lot of TDs and ran for some more. 4 games with 4 plus TDs (one of them 5), nothing to sniff at. His 16 game pace was around 30 TDs...would have been a record at the time. I blame this coaching staff and offensive design a lot. And right now, everyone that matters is hurt. Big games aren't going to come when every talented player is hurt for pretty much all QBs. But what Jones could do in that situation is not have a turnover filled mess when all his guys are out, do what you can, don't hero it. He still needs to learn a lot there. When Jones was a rookie, there was no play book ( information ) on his strengths and weakness. Teams now know how to defend and bait him. A top tier QB can overcome weak OL and injuries. Most teams have injuries and a weak OL.

I think Just like Mayfield is now struggling with out a couple WRs and his RB, still there OL is pretty solid and healthy, Jones shows what he could do with minimal rpotection and weapons, can't say yet but add the TDs called back or dropped he has six give him at least average OL play he probably is still at 1 INT. They need to see him with players and protection he played 10 straight games or 11 with 2 picks. less then 2 seconds to throw even Mahomes gave in to it in the Super Bowl they have 11 games left, see if he can play with a healthy WR core and an OL that is semi healthy they were 5 deep at left guard and 2 deep at left tackle. I hate excuses but this has an affect on any QB and I would to see the board when ends up somewhere with protection and weapons and is slicing and dicing and were still looking for QB 1.

He would ruin his legacy coming here and get injured. I'm not even sure he would come here if the Giants offered him $3M - $5M more per year than the next closest offer. This has about the same likelihood of happening as the Giants trading for Patrick Mahomes.... Oh, and there is that little matter of the Giants having $0.00 in cap space in 2022. I'll take 1 in 100,000,000 for $500 Alex...

Fans shouldn't let their disdain for DG cloud how they see players, any QB would struggle under the circumstances Jones has found himself in first no OL or weapons then new system and pandemic still shotty OL play and less weapons now he had decent OL play for about 2.5 weeks and weapons for about 1 game if that. If they decide to part ways they better be right. Gettlemen has made his bed we don't have to attack every player he drafted or traded for some are good some are not and some we don't have the answers for.

Until I see DJ play with all his playmakers on the field at the same time, I'm not gonna bash the guy. It's BS when people say, "that's no excuse". You lose your starting LT, starting RB, 3 WRS & expect your QB not to miss a beat? Delusional! Last yr he lost Barkley for the yr in week 2, had a joke of WRs who couldn't get separation, and a TE that dropped key passes all yr & cost us the 1st Philly game that ended up being the difference in us losing out on the div title with a 7-9 record. In the win over NO, he had his playmakers on the field & the team put up 27pts & 485 total yds of O. I'd like to think that a healthy NY O would be a lot more potent than it's shown the past 2 weeks being all injury depleted as it's been. We might have still lost to Dallas/LA, but it would not have been blowouts.

That was 1 game the most important out of all of them in his career. Jones needs to be on this team with healthy OL and at least 3 solid weapons healthy plus his RB to know. These are the reasons I am completely done with DG his plan needed to be from his 1st draft getting the OL and weapons for their soon to be young QB. instead he botched it.

No QB is dealing with that even if they had eyes in the back of their head.

Again Bottles and Trubisky both had playmakers from the start (Alen Robinson ironically being one of them) Bottles had for one year a running game Who on the field was even Robinson good (and I don't even consider Robinson a legit number one at this point)last year and after Toney went down this past weekend? Young QBs especially need playmakers in their first few years to help speed up development,ect.. You can't just throw a qb in tbe deep end and say be elite in 2 years or we are replacing you witb little if anything around them Now Witb that said if Jones looks more like Winston in Tampa if /when our guys get healthy then yes we need to have this conversation Fans want instant top qb no matter what around here and there has been zero insance going back to prehistoric times where a qb just learning the first few years can carry a bunch of nobodies and be a top qb instantly..(before anyone says Wilson he had Tate in his prime,Harvin in his prime and Baldwin his first 2 years and a good running game when needed)

Not sure how it can be said that a QB who had 4 passing TD's going into game 6 was playing at a "high level". By comparison, Tom Brady has 18 TD's and Stafford has 16 TD's ... now that is playing at a high level. Jones has had to endure some difficulties for sure and I still am not sure how he is going to ultimately turn out. My only point is that the reports of Jones making some huge leap this year or establishing himself as a franchise QB were laughably premature/exaggerated. They were definitely premature and were simply guesses. It does not help Jones' case when you see other young quarterbacks play well and at a way more consistent rate. I've seen glimpses that Jones can play very well. He lit up a really good Saints defense. It just seems like for every game like that, he gives games like the ones against Denver, Atlanta, and Los Angeles. I wish that we could see more of what we saw against WFT and NO. The bottom line is that Jones deserves props when plays well and criticism when he doesn’t, no matter what. Enough excuses. We want and need consistent results. If fans want to wait until the wheels fall off the Jones bandwagon before jumping off, more power to them. I won't be one of those guys. I really want to fully buy into Jones, but I can't because he is way too inconsistent.
