You do realize Jones never asked for 45mm. His fired ex agent leak that story because he was pissed off. So the deal is 4 years $160 million, which is $40 million per year and if you include the $35 million in incentives, that goes up to $48.75 million per year. Are you gonna admit that you were wrong and childish for harassing posters because they didn't believe Craig Carton when he supposedly refuted the story?

Need to know the guaranteed money that will impact the remaining 45 million since Saquon is now franchise tagged. It's not going to be the exact same roster from last year as several guys are free agents that need to be re-signed or replaced. Also, the schedule will likely be tougher. we also have a draft coming up to add potential impact players on rookie contracts I edited my post and added that detail in. Understand about draft picks but that'll not be nearly enough to do all the replacing they likely will need unless they can hit it out of the ballpark on draft day(s).

Well it's done now. Jones will have a career trajectory like no one else I can think of if he validates this deal.

It’s not as difficult as it seems. Especially with a competent front office & scouting department

Ive seen enough of DJ last year to know he can do good things, just needs to do it more consistnely I would've stayed at 30-35 but I get where Joe is coming from. Its up to him to build this team so that DJ can take the next step.. If they regress next season things are going to sour VERY quick.

a lot of money...it better work out no excuses from Fans using the same excuses of "Oh His Line..." "His Receivers..." none of that will work now when you getting Elite Level Money of course I hope everything works out and he continue to get better under Daboll and Kafka and prove he is worth that money Now that is done, time to load up on Talent around him need to bring in 2-3 Receivers for him and at least 1 of them need to be a legit #1 Receiver and I don't see them getting that with the #25 Pick in the Draft so might have to make a Trade Nor in free agency. Schuster is best out there. Trade might have to be the route as you mentioned.

Hopefully they can get out of it after two years. Mediocrity pays nice in the NFL. Ask and you shall receive.

I would certainly hope so. I hope that he ends up being worth the money. in 3 years you will be calling him great. Awesome! So they paid for 2 years of more mediocrity.

Look at the guaranteed money average. That is what matters. I really doubt it will be $40 mill a year. So let's say it's a $50MM bonus. That's 12.5MM per year pro rated against the cap. $10MM in salary the first year and $22 next year. So we eat $25MM if we dump him in 2025. I can live with that.

Im hearing $35M MORE in incentives... Jesus. $195M potential here... $160M contract Whats the guaranteed? whats the guaranteed? thats the real question, these contracts can be made to sound totally ridiculous but the guaranteed is the important part...

Hopefully they can get out of it after two years. Mediocrity pays nice in the NFL. Ask and you shall receive. So, if the guaranteed money is all we care about, does this then essentially break down to $20.5M per year ($82M/4yrs)? Will the potential $35M in incentives impact the cap? Does any signing bonus go towards the guaranteed number? So many questions 😃

the only issue I would have with this contract is how it will effect us in bringing in more talent.

I have not seen the details but I assume its basically a 2.5 year deal stretched over 4 years. So the big cap hits come in 2025 and 2026 when our cap should be much higher. Now come 2025 with a higher cap this deal will look like a steal if DJ and the team do well. That works out for both DJ and the team. If DJ plays bad he is gone in 2025 but if he plays well the Giants have him at a respectable place contract wise.

The mediocre statistical performance that he had this year is what lead to Schoen/Daboll giving him this contract. So that statistical measuring stick fans use clearly isn’t the one the HC and GM use. The guys that agreed to this are the same guys that declined the 5th year option. They know what they’re getting themselves into. But I don’t agree that it’s elite money. Pre-225 million cap, $45-50 a year, all guaranteed is elite money. Lamar is holding out for that. J Hurts will get more than that. This is an upper third contract relative to a 225 mill cap. In two years it’ll be a middle of the pack deal.
