I will go ahead and say it. Giving receivers of this caliber to our current QB room is basically throwing them in the dumpster. It's like putting rims on a Ford Pinto. Hmm...let's see what some QBs around the league stats look like without that high-end WR... Baker Mayfield? - Mike Evans (1255 yards - 13 TDs) 2789 yards 15 TDS 10 picksJosh allen? - Diggs (1183 yards - 8 TDs) 3123 yards 21 TDs 18 INTsDak? - Lamb (1749 yards - 12 TDs) 2767 yards 24 TDs 9 INTsTua? - Tyreek Hill (1799 yards - 13 TDs) 2825 yards 16 TDs 13 INTsStarting to look more like Jones stat lines no? I'm not even considering the other weapons some of these QBs have that are upgrades to ours...OR the fact that their studs are drawing coverage / attention away from others. Let's hear how this doesn't count and talk about made-up production/numbers these guys would "really" have even if they didn't have those players, I know that's where the responses are going to spin this.

The current QB is currently broken and his confidence could be shot. The same thing will happen to the next golden boy if they don’t get the Oline fixed. Last year the Oline was historically bad. Not bad. Historically bad. If you think throwing a great WR out there with the current QBs is a waste of talent, what do you think throwing a talented QB behind a horrific Oline is going to be? All fair points. I still feel like the QB position needs to be the priority here. Get that right first and then worry about the other things after that. In addition to drafting 3 receivers early the past 3 years, we also have 3 starting olinemen drafted in the first two rounds. They've tried a ton to help this QB room out. IMO, until they get this QB position squared away, they will be screwed from the jump. They must go all in. The Oline was terrible, but we saw that it was only made a lot worse when Daniel Jones was under center vs when Tyrod Taylor was under center. A franchise QB makes everyone around him look better. Tyrod Taylor started 5 games and was sacked 17 times, Jones started 6 games and was sacked 30 times. It's the same group of guys they both played with and Tyrod Taylor was even able to take some shots down the field. The problem with Tyrod Taylor, which has been a problem throughout his career is that he just can't seem to stay healthy. That's why priority #1 should be to fix the QB situation, it's why IMO if they like a QB in this draft they need to trade up and get their guy, if they don't like a QB then they need to trade down and accumulate draft picks for next year, either way we need to stop with this one foot in, one foot out on Daniel Jones.

It’s why teams break banks and kill witnesses to get one. Besides the rifle for an arm.. or the pinpoint accuracy. What separates the pretenders from the contenders is that they diagnose defenses a tick faster than the rest. Football is all about timing.. Being a split second to slow will result in you eating turf.. or throwing a ball into the stands. We have sunk more time and energy into the line that no team comes close to us. Either our scouting department should be strung up by their eyeballs. Or, we are being handicapped by inferior play at quarterback. Blaming coaching is easy, we have done it for well over a decade. One coach you can lay waste to, two or more you have to start looking in another direction. As pathetic as our line has been over the years.. they’re playing behind an eight ball.

One coach you can lay waste to, two or more you have to start looking in another direction. As pathetic as our line has been over the years.. they’re playing behind an eight ball. Blaming coaches IS easy and it's usually the culprit. All these guys have talent...coaching is in charge or getting the best play from these guys and putting them in position to succeed. Our coaches haven't been doing that. Blaming the QB is the real cop-out. We've seen 3 guys at QB and we see the same results - a line that can't pass block, a line that isn't creating holes for the rbs, and skill players that aren't maximizing opportunities -- barely executing on the smallest scale in all those areas. Let's go with the QB being the culprit, how does that improve our run-blocking? How does that turn Slayton into a 1300 yard 10+ TD receiver? It can't because neither of those components possess the ability...which again is coaching....do I expect them to turn Slayton into Tyreek Hill? No. But they are responsible for putting him out there and forcing him into a role he can't physically fill

This is pretty awful analysis, though. If those guys werent on the roster, then the numbers wouldnt just disappear, there would be a replacement that eats up some of the numbers or some other players on the team’s numbers would increase, or some combination thereof. Obviously, those guys are way better than the norm, so it would very likely NOT be a 1 to 1 replacement, but it’d be on the order of ~1000 yds and 7 TDs

When it comes to Odunze vs Nabors, and DJ is our QB, I feel like Nabors would be better. I feel like Nabors is more of a "chess piece" who we can utilize from anywhere on the field. DJ can hit him on short routes that he can make big gains, Nabors runs a nice route tree and would be more beneficial to DJ.
All that being said, I like Odunze more, but I feel like he wouldn't be properly used with our current QB situation. If we had our franchise QB, I'd be 100% on board with Odunze, he's that prototype X, controls the sidelines, exceptional body control and hands, total red zone nightmare... Sadly we have DJ as our QB.
Personally, I'd like to go QB in the 1st, but if we miss on the big 3, we move Neal to OG, and get Onwenu in FA as our new RT, then sure let's take a shot at Odunze, Nabors, or even a trade back for Bowers.
If we DONT address our OL in free agency, miss out on the big 3 QBs, sure, I'd throw Alt or Fashanu as 1st round possibilities ahead of WR. I like our WRs and feel like someone like Leggette in the 2nd would be a God send

It pretty much is all or nothing for them right now. The Giants should do whatever it takes to get to #1. Running it back with things as is with this sorry ass QB room would be considered a failure IMO, the Giants will finish with a similar record next year, and Daboll and Schoen should both lose their gigs.

It’s obvious that they need to develop another QB but it’s also obvious that having Thomas and a healthy Barkley makes a world of difference in the equation.

How bout' QB? crazy idea I know...... Nite the top QB's are going to be gone at #6. How much are you willing to give up to move up ? Plus the first 3 teams need a QB as desperately as us. If their in the position to get a top QB prospect in the draft why in the world are they not drafting a QB ? Are we going to draft a 2nd tier QB when there are a bunch of other players significantly better ? I know your frustrated Nite, we all are. Just don't know where the QB is coming from. That is an opinion usually formed by unknowlegible sports writers and draft 'experts'. Rich, don't get sucked into 'opinion consensus' by the ill informed. The smart organizations do their homework and watch hundreds of hours of tape and do many interviews before making a decision. Before Peyton Manning was drafted by the Colts it was rumored that the scouting depart had over 200 hours of tape on him. Their opinions on a prospect are waaay different than the writers. Also there is a fallacy among quite a few fans that we must draft a 'franchise' QB. I feel that this is a mistake. This would cause teams to either over or under value a prospect based on unrealistic expectations. I think we should aim for a starter prospect with a decent upside ceiling. We don't need a star we just need a good QB that can put points on the board on a regular basis and is reliable

Why pay those guys?Because those guys provide more impact than the spreading out of 1000yds and 7tds… You’re literally subtracting out 171 plays from the dolphins and not backfilling at all, its completely stupid.

Nabers explosiveness after the catch...
But then Odunze Incredible Consistent Hands...
I do lean slightly Nabers but it is not much of a gap as some may think and NO I don't think you can use "Well Reggie Williams and John Ross Was A Bust So That Means Other Washington Receivers Will Be A Bust" that seems very unfair
Some love for those guys Teammates Brian Thomas Jr. and Ja'Lynn Polk, they can play too, Thomas reminds me of Plaxico a bit
INCREDIBLE WR Class!

Hell, put the word reliable on him and he’s changing the face of a franchise. The best to ever lace them up elevated their teams to heights that scratched the surface of the sun. From the can’t misses to the ones that had to fight tooth and nail to make it. Every general manager worth his weight in salt is looking for that guy. A beast who puts food on their plates. Most fail to do so and pay the ultimate price for it. You know what you have when you don’t have a franchise quarterback? A nobody..

I will go ahead and say it. Giving receivers of this caliber to our current QB room is basically throwing them in the dumpster. It's like putting rims on a Ford Pinto. So we should give lower caliber WRs to our QB? Sorry that does not make sense and this can go round and round. Putting any QB behind this OL is like pouring sugar in your Pinto's gas tank. Putting Waller on this team is like having a top of the line transmission sitting in your garage.
Bottom line is this team has a bunch of holes and we need to fill them. We are almost certainly going to sign some new OL in free agency. If we draft one of these guys and Jones is not cutting it then our next QB will have solid WRs and (hopefully) an improved OL.
I went with Odunze but also like Coleman. Nabers is also fantastic. A couple games I watched he seemed to have some drops which turned me off to him but he's clearly very talented.

I'm saying that giving anything of quality at the position to 8 is a waste of time and money. We already have drafted receivers early 3 seasons in a row. We got him Darren Waller and also have 3 olineman drafted in the first 2 rounds blocking for the guy I get that several of the supporters of 8 want to continue trying to give him help with early draft picks. I see him as a lost cause that would waste any more help that would be provided. I respect the opinions that disagree with me. I just think that he is toast. I'm not gonna Modog and blame everything on him, but enough is enough.

To me there is no wrong pick Odunze is a little bigger at 6'3" 215lbs to Nabors at 6"even 200lbs. Odunze a fraction faster 4.37 to 4.4 does that even make a difference ? They are so even in numbers. Which one would fit better in our offense. They both have real good hands. Would Odunze be a better target in the red zone or from inside the 10 yd line being he is taller 6'3" to 6' foot ? I'm not seeing any difference. Does Nabors get a nod because he played in the SEC ? Rather than Odunze playing in the PAC 10 ? I didn't vote one over the other. Giants will typically draft SEC guys in the first round. it shouldn't be a typical lol..........

The Giants and the rest of the NFL... i guess they'll say they played against better competition which should automatically make them the better player but we all know that's not always the case or end up being; I guess they will take what they think is the safest best though smh

Easy answer - Rome 7 days a week twice on Sunday’s He’s bigger - faster - great hands - great character - great work ethic - role model kinda guy. The love for Malik proves one thing but I won’t be insulting to his supporters. Nabors looked uninterested in running routes and blocking in the bowl game. He had 3 catches for 23 yards vs Wisconsin DB’s. You want an LSU WR - take Brian Thomas Jr. after you trade back a bit in the first. Same bowl game Thomas had 8 catches 98 yards 2 TD’s. The only guy I want that catches the ball at #6 is Brock Bowers. He will be more dynamic and helpful to Jones than either Rome or Malik. Take a guy like Leggett in the second if we go QB or OL in the first. Nabors will be another Route Tree Reuben Randle - little hit or big miss depending on how you look at it. Thus the Giants will probably draft Nabors 🥱
With that assessment, there's no way we don't land Nabers
I didn't notice the bowl game, but it's something to keep an eye on. Nobody wants a diva, and we need WRs who are willing and able blockers. The Randle comparison seems like a stretch, though. I don't see any similarities in their game.
In terms of Bowers, how is he at blocking? He looks a bit undersized but he continues to be mocked high. Not to say he can't, but over the years I've completely lost interest in TEs who can't block at a high level. I'd much rather have a blocking TE with sure hands who can move the chains when needed.
Bowers is an all around stud at the TE position including blocking. Is he a blocking TE? No he is a receiving TE that can block. He is being mocked in the top 10 because he is that good. At times unstoppable in the country’s toughest conference - the SEC. The only connection I see to Route Tree Randle is my opinion of them both. I hated the RR pick and thought he was overrated. He was and it turned out to be an underwhelming pick. I get the same vibe with Nabers. Rome has no diva blood running through his veins. He also doesn’t drop passes like Nabers does. I’m a Big 10 guy - grew up in the Bronx - New Rochelle but lived in Ann Arbor Michigan in high school and college. So I obviously watch all the Big 10 games on the Big 10 network. I live in Alabama SEC country so I watch a lot of SEC games every week. I think I’m pretty in tune with what Bowers brings to the table and what Malik doesn’t. Doesn’t mean all my opinions are on target. Your first sentence was funny - hope it doesn’t come to pass.

Who can naturally create separation more? I haven’t watched tape, but Daniel Jeremiah mentions in his odunze write up that he might have trouble creating separation in the NFL, but is great at contested catches… That said, unless they’re lying, our team values ability to create separation pretty much above all

I like our WRs and feel like someone like Leggette in the 2nd would be a God send I'm not sure Legette drops to the second round especially if he explodes at the combine. As for OL, it's supposedly a very deep OL draft (tackles mostly) so I'd rather go skill at #6 but I really hope they address interior OL in FA.

hahaha exactly as I said. Hypothetical - "These guys would've covered a measely 1000 yards a 7 TDs" Classic. Then why would they need pay the one guy that got those numbers? Bravo! You anticipated the obvious hole in your argument and instead of addressing it, you just brushed it aside and still posted the terrible analysis. Why pay those guys?Because those guys provide more impact than the spreading out of 1000yds and 7tds… You’re literally subtracting out 171 plays from the dolphins and not backfilling at all, its completely stupid. Ok. I'll play along....IF you can show me proof of a QB that lost his best WR (and he didn't have another #1 target) and put up similar stats, I'll retract my statement Seeing as you will probably reply with a snark response about how "it's common sense" I'll just take the win now

Not sure I'm following? The SEC typically produces some of the best prospects and NFL players. It's not like this is stubbornly happening against other evidence. It's not that great players can't come from elsewhere, of course they can. Our two best players, Thomas and Dex, are SEC guys. Dex is an ACC guy but your point is valid about the SEC. Ohhhhhh yeah, good catch. I have a brain fault that just places Clemson in the SEC from 2015-2020 because of the dominance

Good to know about Bowers. I'm a huge fan of the TE position. They're a QBs best friend and, in my opinion, a legit TE is the biggest mismatch for a defense. They can open up so much for an offense.
