WOW!!!! 2nd and a 5th for a PROVEN edge guy, OK It's good shit by the NYG. That's the kind of move I want them making Thirty mill per year, i guess that is the going rate . Maybe Thibs will be more motivated , plus Burns will make him look better. Olijari , mabe we can get a third round pick for him.

Big move…gave up a lot. High 2nd and $30/mil year. We were def missing a pass rusher. But, for a team that needs a lot of players…that seems like a lot. They could’ve gotten 2 good players for what they gave up. Hope he changes the game on defense. If he is a stud then a 2nd rounder was well worth it. Not sure how it's two players unless his contract for this year is what you mean. Do you know what his cap hit is?

Funny that we can trace the acquisition of Brian Burns to...Dave Gettleman lol.
We just traded pick 47 (round 2) and a 5th round pick in 2025 for Burns. We got those two picks from Seattle in exchange for Leonard Williams. We originally traded a 3rd and 5th for Williams. Who would have thought that a 3rd and 5th rounder traded in 2020 would net us Brian Burns in 2024? Overall I think that was a good deal for us.

Thibs, Dex, Burns, Okereke, Micah plus whomever they put next to Dex who for sure will at least be competent. Add in Bowen's expertise. They signed two starting interior O-lineman that are huge upgrades, one of which can also play OT and had a career year last year while playing for the Giants new O-line coach. They also fit in a Running Back that knows Daboll's system cold who averaged 4.2 yards per carry last year in Houston and is also one the best blocking RB's they've had in 10 years. The trade was an excellent move and was for one of the best edge players against the run and pass in the entire NFL. Burns is a game breaker/wrecker. Looking at the whole picture, imho, resources were properly allocated including what was given up in the draft.

Just base on the money….Giants could’ve gotten a really good Guard and have $11+ mil left for another player. Plus, a high 2nd round. It’s a lot. He’s taking the place of 2-3 players. It’s a bold move for a team that doesn’t even have a full roster. I don’t know what Burns contract says. But, I would think he’s getting somewhere near $30mil for the first couple years.

Pretty sad that Wink isn't here so I could scream at my TV as Burns drops back into coverage 80 times this year lol. Very happy to have this player, not sure what we traded and what the cost will be though. Nervous about that. I’m so glad Wink is gone. No more run stopping on 1st and 2nd. They are rushing the passer at all times and now have the horses to do it. Thibs is going to get a lot better under Bowen too. One of the better D fronts in the NfL at this point. This is why you don’t pay RBs and Safeties. Mike I'm sure you know by now what the trade was but just in case you hadn't heard. It cost us our 2nd rd (39th pick) and our 5tf rd pick. 30 mil a year on a 5 year deal, 150 mil, 87.5 mil guaranteed. Somehow were going to make his 30 mil salary fit for us under the cap this year. That's why they hire those cap guys.

Not sure why they would be interested in over spending so much for guards when they can be drafted in the 2nd and 3rd days of the draft.

I'll take the pass rusher every time!

-proven player -locked him up for 5 years so he’s a long term solution to the rebuild, not a band aide like Waller

Liked him better than Josh Allen in '19 and was bummed when he got drafted right before the before the Giants pick. This has the potential to work out even more than I originally thought

We got a top notch pass rusher for a 2nd and a 5th. I doubt very seriously there will be a player at the 39th pick that's anywhere near as good as Burns. He will really help the defense.
I have to admit I was thinking so much on how to fix this mess of an offense I hadn't considered using one of our 2nd rd picks to help the defense. Hopefully we just traded for a decent pass rush.

Its not the most efficient use of resources, but oh well, lets hope it works out. Also, hope he stays hungry now that he got paid. Just because he has a great resume, doesnt mean he’ll keep building on it or willing to play through pain/injuries.

If we go back far enough we can probably trace this trade back to Vince Lombardi. Absolutely, I thought that was obvious.
Lombardi was the OC* here until 1958. Jim Lee Howell was the Head Coach at the time. After the 1960 season Howell became the Director of Player personnel using much of the knowledge he gained from Lombardi. He stayed in that position for the next 20 years. George Young was "hired" as the GM in 1979 and had countless conversations picking Howells brain and gaining tidbits from the Lombardi knowledge tree. Those tidbits were passed down to the assistant GM...Earnie Accorsi who of course took over as GM in 1997 and the next year hired a young scout named Dave Gettleman.
Thank you Vince Lombardi for getting us Brian Burns.
*Tom Landry was the DC. Crazy to think that Tom Caughlin and Bill Belichick was the second best pair of OC/DC that we ever had lol.

Our current front 7:
LDE: A’Shawn Robinson NT: Dexter Lawrence RDE: Jihad Ward WLB: Brian Burns WILB: Bobby Okereke RILB: Micah McFadden SLB: Kayvon Thibodeaux
The front 7 looks a lot better, the only question is if Schoen tries to upgrade the Dline (Ward/Robinson)?
