Barkley will look as good or better than last season when the following happens (it's really simple)... 1. He's fully healed. 2. Shurmur stops running him right up the middle 95% of the time (starts providing BALANCE between inside and outside runs). Do you know how easy it is for the defense to stop their running game when they know where they'll run it? 3. The offensive line blocks better on a consistent, week to week basis. Barkley did good despite an atrocious OL last season. The difference is that his coach didn't run him up the guy 95% of the time, he actually had the common sense to provide something closer to a 50/50 balance between inside and outside runs. The biggest problem I've seen with Barkley all year is he has dropped a lot of passes going back to the 1st two games with Eli. Who was the coach last year? Lol at blaming Shurmur or the Oline. Barkley is a good RB, nothing more, nothing less. There is nothing that matters that’s special about him. He lacks vision for a hole. He has special juke talent, he loves using it hoping he ends up in space to run. 9/10 he goes nowhere. He’s a losing player. The team is 5-18 with him out there.

Lorenzo Carter has been disappointing. If that dude was in beast mode, our entire D wouldnt be quite as bad...maybe

You are speaking as a fan not a GM. Fans can always use the after the fact BLAH BLAH narrative It makes the fan appear insightful, No not really The difference between the GM and the fan. Salaries and draft slots is not fan talk. Tell me the RB making as much as Nate Solder. Tell me the other NFL teams who have taken a RB # 2 overall in the last decade. Email the site admin to allow increased room for the big list. RBs dont go # 2. Barkley isn’t special. Sportscenter highlight runs created his hype. Our GM was the sucker. Again the GM must BPA on his board. End of discussion. if you think otherwise keep going with that . I am sure you will find some others that will agree with your "that is not the way it is" thinking. In actuality they would be wrong also. Every GM takes the BPA on his board unless the 3 constraints I noted ate in play.

Lorenzo Carter has been disappointing. If that dude was in beast mode, our entire D wouldnt be quite as bad...maybe This D can’t rush the QB or cover. They have a couple serviceable pieces who can start on a good D if surrounded with good players. This team lacks talent at the hardest positions to find. They are nowhere close to being relevant.

Nick Chubb has proven Barkley wasn’t the best RB in the draft, let alone the best player on the board. A GMs job is maximizing asset management. Sitting at 2 in 2018 DG needed to do 1 of 2 things, love a QB or trade the pick. He chose option F(as in failure), pretend a RB is special and take him.

He is special, but he is still a RB. And to be honest, Zeke Elliots running style is better. Dude gets hit in the backfield and gets 3-4 yards anyway. Now if you give Barkley the Cowboys Oline to run, you would see him explode. Problem is, we wont ever have the Cowboys OL and if we did, many RBs could do great behind it.

NFL GMs do not operate on Fan's or Talking Head's opinions. If those 2 groups are so correct. Why is it they never become GMs. I will tell you why . When by chance one of them does get a chance to be interview ( Riddick), The interviewers have to wear depends so they protect their pants from P### themselves from the continuous laughing.

If we had the Cowboys Oline in place I’d have had less of a problem taking a RB, though I’d still have had a RB. Taking the RB so we can hear we don’t have an Oline for him is maddening. Elliot runs a winning style, tough hard nosed consistent yards. Barkley is a Sanders/Bush he has no problem getynh -3, 0, 2 if it eventually gets him his 50 yard sportscenter run. Long runs help on 1 drive. 4-5 yards help every drive.

So your opinion is that if a singular GM does something it’s right? I’m pointing out a well established trend of NFL GMs devaluing RB. Our guy took one # 2. Not a fan trend. A trend of NFL GMs not taking RBs high, not laying them big money. A strategy that worked for 2 SB Giants teams. If 27-28 teams don’t have RBs in their board in round 1, it’s pushing quality players down the board. You can get good RBs after round 1 every single year. Barkley is 3rd from his draft class in career rushing yards, may be 4th by the end of the year.

I asked how many real GMs have taken a RB # 2 in the last decade. Would that info be fan related or GM related? Gettleman did .Last I looked he is one of the 32 NFL GMs One that should be fired(had ironically just been fired when we hired him). How many other NFL GMs took a RB # 2 in the last decade? Of those how many called the guy generational? If he’s generational why is Nick Chubb better than him? What generation is he from?

What’s the humor? 2-9 is the result. GMs are graded on the field, we can clearly see we have the worst in the league. The Bengals are in year 1 of their year down. We have the worst record in the nfl since the start of 17. Other GMs got things on track, we are off roading somewhere in Iowa.

Barkley was the best player on the Giants last year and that includes OBJ. Now all of the idiots come out to bash Barkley. ****ing amazing. Are people bashing Barkley or just trying to figure out if he is injured or not? And wondering why he is struggling bad this season. Hope you are right but it doesn’t seem like it to me.

Maybe if you stopped actually falling in love with these players, you would have the objectivity to see when they are not playing well in the present.
Would you rather not have him on the team?

Now he’s an average player on a 2-9 team? We were told he’s a golden jacket player. He’s not even the best TB from his draft class. See Nick Chubb and Philip Lyndsay. Both on bad teams, but rest assured anyone who argues Barkley is better will ignore excuses that could be made for them as well. Health and talent go hand in hand at RB because unlike other positions RBs rely solely on their physical ability. If Barkley isn’t 100% his skill is gone. Would you trade Barkley even up for Chubb or Lyndsay?

His line is worse than the Giants line and he’s 6 yards off the rushing title. I’d also trade Barkley for a round 1 pick I’d also not have taken Barkley at # 2 unless someone was holding me at gunpoint forcing me to do so

As for details throwing record aside here are issues I have with DG: OT - barren Pass rush - barren QB - being prematurely elevated to construct a narrative. He’s not good, he’s flashed good aspects largely against really bad teams. Titans the ball over way too much Trades: a 4 for Ogletree, a 3 and a 4 for Williams who is a FA, self admittedly dealt OBJ without “marketing” him around the league The nucleus pieces of this team that are proven are solid weapons on offense, 2 OGs and a mediocre front 3. Every other area of the team is bad. Glaring weaknesses are the back 8 on D, OT, and C DG has prioritized the exact opposite of what I want to see prioritized. It’s a passing league, he’s prioritized run assets.

Or how about actually making that trade with the Jets? Move to #6 and get 3 second round picks. In fact, since they would be moving to #2 instead of 3, we should be able to get more. Gettleman wasnt taking the calls though.
