Same Let him battle for a starting job and have him behind Ballentine or Beal on the depth chart. Who is Beal?

Both he and Rosas are reporting Tuesday from what I saw. I don't know if he's guilty or not, but the da and cops seem as confused as we are. If they can't charge him after 2 months, he should be allowed back, IMO. The cops charged Baker in May. The DA hasn't filed charges because of covid. Grand juries in Florida were suspended about 2 months ago.

Considering the reduction in the salary cap in 2021, Baker becomes a perfect guy to dump before next season. T doesn’t appear that he will ever live up to his high draft status and the market will be full of cheaper replacements. Not signing Leonard Williams also appears to be a great move at this point.

But here's a quote from the prosecutor: "This investigation has more turns and twists than a Barry Sanders highlight reel,” prosecutor Alex Urruela told the court during a hearing this week, according to the Miami Herald. “As evidence keeps coming in, evaluations change.” Doesn't sound very solid to me. And they don't need a grand jury to charge him according to Florida law.

All I know is that I was less than thrilled with his play, attitude and work ethic last year, and didn’t have very high hopes of him living up to his draft status even before the alleged armed robbery, witness tampering, etc.

Oh, I am not suggestion they should dump him now. Let him play in 2020 and if he doesn’t improve, let him go. There will be a bunch of experienced CBS available because of the huge salary cap reduction. He isn’t the kinda guy the Giants like to keep anyway.

Best thing he could is come back, be focused and play lights out football. This puts him in the best position possible for his future.

I had/have hope for the kid but he has shown he is not going to put his nose to the grind stone so to speak. He would have to totally change his attitude towards life and playing the game in the NFL. Even if he is innocent he def did something very stupid along the way. He more to prove than just playing well.

Oh there is no doubt he is failing in both areas but if he can prove his football worth and by being focused it means: making the character, behavior and personality changes that go along with it. It is a tall order for this young man maybe too much but it would be a cool story if it happened.

That would/could be a very interesting debate in the future. Top 10 pick v. a 30th that cost 3 picks. I’d expect some deep dive hot takes with that one

Good lord, some of these responses in recent days are comical. Let's all reach and assume Baker ends up being innocent......why in the world would he be considered a prime candidate to cut after this year? Even if he doesn't play well, you don't cut a 2nd year player after drafting them in the 1st round.....let alone trading up to pick him.
Take Corey Webster for example. Corey was similarly scrutinized after his first two years. He was forced to play off the ball under Tim Lewis, which went against his strengths coming out of college. Corey was a man-to-man, up in your face CB at LSU. Sound familiar? Once Spags played Corey to his strengths, he shined.
Based on the improvement Baker began to show over the 2nd half of 2019, combined with the fact we're supposed to have a more aggressive approach to defense, I'm willing to bet Baker ends up turning a lot of his haters into fans.
If innocent, Baker will be a Giant until at least 2022.

I would trust he has someone to act as his career/life coach/compass if so then he needs to listen to the advice or he could very well be tragically lost. If he gets a second chance I hope he takes advantage of it and it all works out for him.

Cut him and lets move on! Still have Corey Ballentine who actually looked more impressive than Baker last year during Camp and Preseason This. Forget it. If they did this it proves they are not playing with a full deck upstairs. Have a few screws loose. No need to keep someone on the roster that is a potential ticking timebomb 1st round pick or not You took a chance on him and lost. Move on i agree

And if they do and he ends being exonerated, the Giants will look like idiots cutting a first round draft pick for nothing.

Not nothing , he was in with a group of assholes,he needs to be smarter .......all it means if it happens is it wasn't criminal, stupid ,yes. So you really believe it is smart to cut a first round pick for the crime of hanging around with assholes?

I couldn't disagree with this "holier than thou" stance more. Not to point at you directly BR, and I won't bother going into much detail, but the thought of cutting a player because he was "with a group of assholes and needs to be smarter" is baffling and comes across archaic. Very much an old man yelling at clouds type mentality. If Baker didn't actually commit this crime, and was actually setup, there's absolutely zero reason to cut him. None.

My friends would have been fired from every job they ever had for hanging around with me. .........are their jobs with the NFL? I bet your a lot of fun at parties. 🤣 Ironically one of my friends did work for the nfl, but that’s neither here nor there. You can’t, or better put: you shouldn’t, cut people for having dumb friends. I’m not even sure you should cut people for doing dumb things. Committing crimes on the other hand, is certainly worthy of termination. I don’t think that’s been proven here yet.

Here we are discussing 3 players who our team has invested heavily in, but who may not play again for us, and appear to need some help in the psychological area. Didn't we just bring on a team psychologist, or was that just a PR move in case of future accusations that we are not up with the times?

So you really believe it is smart to cut a first round pick for the crime of hanging around with assholes? Please quote where I said he should be cut,I have for awhile said to( "wait and see")? You made the comment that he,if he is not charged he did nothing wrong,......................not even close .He was stupid just not criminal and if he gets a second chance with the Giants better change how he spends his free time and with who. I said there was no reason to cut him for nothing. You said it wasnt for nothing, which implies you wanted him cut. Not trying to put words in your mouth.
