I just don't know what to think of this whole situation, I really hope it doesn't turn out that Baker did absolutely nothing. That sounds strange I know, but it would really suck for him that his career was derailed for nothing. I know this, has any other team had more bizarre off field shit happen to their players than the Giants? Jesus.. Actually this year is the outleir for us

The Giants pulled the trigger too fast. They could have left him on the commissioner’s exempt list until the case fully played out.

No matter they some portion of the fan base will disagree and get pissy about it. I’d like to believe that they made their decision based on his behavior after the allegation as opposed to merely on the allegation but who knows? Certainly none of us.

So this will all play out, Baker will walk, then he will be free to sign with whoever he wants. I hate to be selfish, but if we threw away a 1st round pick because of 100% BS and false accusations that will also be trash. Not saying the FO had great options and the optics were bad, but they probably should have held out with the exempt list. Ridiculous.

Very Insightful. If he walks I hope the Giants do right by him.

No outside distractions. Being in the NY market has it advantages, but this isn't one of them.

More than saying something bad about the FO it really just speaks to our football fortunes on top of everything else. I still say we are being karmically rewarded for those last 2 SB wins.

Based on lack of first year performance on and off the field
Yields more high value draft capital wasted on the Gettleman risk/reward strategy
Beyond nonsensical that Baker would waste a professional career over such dumbass crap

I think Judge wasn't about to start his first coaching gig with this hanging over him the team and the organization. It's a shitty thing if he's innocent, there is talent there think this was a decision by the first year head coach to start with as clean slate as possible. We all have to remember this was not looking good for him.

The perfect typical Giants ending to the story would be he is completely exonerated, ends up signing with the Cowboys or Eagles and ends up being a top lock down corner for the next 10 years....

it could be that the Giants front office knows more about this whole thing than we do and moving on from this guy was the right thing to do in the best interest of the team and its image...

To be honest I like the chemistry and culture they have going on in the building. Every Giants team the last 5 or 6 years especially that 2017 team quit at some point no matter the coach wether TC in 2014 MacAdoo in 2017 Shurmur more just bad coaching but there were plenty energy less games during his tenure also. Judge has something here, they are playing toe to toe with who ever they put in front of them, there seems to be no quit just a positive vibe even tho the wins aren't there yet they are still working hard and improving week in and week out.

So far it has been mostly on defense. Guys like Martinez and Peppers play high energy and it is infectious. I don't remember Williams or Tomlinson being so demonstrative and "jazzed up" on the field. They do seem to love to play for Judge and Graham.

He’s Will Allen with me. A player who was drafted very high. Disappointed us with his play on and off the field. He’s forgotten as far as I’m concerned. “Former” Giant..

As a former HS teammate of Will's, I can guarantee you that he is nothing like that guy. Baker wasn't involved in a Ponzi scheme that robbed his fellow professional athletes of millions of dollars. It takes a special kind of person to rob your own colleagues like that. He deflected blame for bad plays in HS and was a real asshole. He also tried to push the bulk of the blame to his co-conspirator. His lack of accountability did not surprise me one bit. Anyways, I do agree with your point that Baker should be pretty much forgotten. It was just another draft pick that didn't pan out.

I was always pulling for Nick Gates but surprisingly he is growing into a leader from the center position. Great find and great kid.
