Well, we’re not getting the #1 pick, so the question is kind of moot .... I'm tired of believing in anyone's evaluation of any college QB as "the one." Most often everyone is wrong. Remember suck for luck? What the skins gave up for RG3? Rosen? Haskins? How many rings did they get? It takes a team. A good/great QB obviously helps, but they are few and far between. **** Trevor Lawrence. Build a team. Except that a team without a good QB is very unlikely to win a championship. Most important position in sports. My post about Lawrence was from months ago. My point was that I didn’t see a scenario where we would be in a position to draft Lawrence (meaning that we had secured the first overall pick by being the worst team in football) and Gettleman would still be around to make the pick. In other words, if we had the worst record in football, Gettleman would be gone.

And he was. Until injuries derailed his career and he retired early.

25 yard line to the 14 yard line 61 air yards Jamarcus Russell had a really strong arm too. I think Lawrence is the real deal but you never know.

Russell could throw a ball over a mountain, but he would need to call an Uber to go get the ball back. Can’t teach work ethic..

Yes you are correct. Also the draftee will be scrutinized for years to come. Eli and Elway both went on to provide Lombardis to the team that took the risk to get them. Maybe they were onto something. Also the chance to get drafted and paid is very rare so these occurrences must be well thought out. both of them had something very rare for prospects - leverage. Eli from his family, and Elway threatened to play for the Yankees. I don't see Lawrence having that kind of sway, in his case, he can stay in school, but that's about it (the way I see it). that all depends on what the player wants from his career, he could just stay with whatever team drafts him and make a boatload of money and then retire, lots of big name players never win anything other than a good paying contract..

Ego makes these guys want to break the cycle for franchises and be that savior Mayfield was obsessed with the thought of being the savior in Cleveland when it started to look like he would go first overall and he is driven beyond anyone's wildest dream to do this I still think Acorsi tampered to get Eli because he had been obsessed over him since 2000..it wasn't up until a week before the draft when it came out Eli "didn't want to go to San Diego "because Ernie put the bug in Archie's brain to do this.

Ryan Leaf and his father had a lot to do with it also . He made it clear the Chargers were not QB friendly. giantswire.usatoday.com/2020/03/07/ryan-leaf-my-dad-told-manning-family-the-chargers-wouldnt-support-eli/

Chris Simms: Jaguars drafting ‘God-like figure’ Trevor Lawrence for wrong reasons The former NFL quarterback and analyst for NBC caused a stir on the internet a few weeks back when he listed BYU’s Zach Wilson, not Lawrence, as the top quarterback prospect coming out of college. On NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football,” he doubled down on the take, suggesting the Jaguars – who hold the No. 1 overall pick – may be making the selection to put butts in the seats instead of to win football games. “He is from Georgia. That is right up the road from Jacksonville,” Simms said. “He of course went to South Carolina, Clemson there. He is a God-like figure, as far as football is concerned. He is going to sell tickets. He is going to be everything they want.” “My big thing is, go with Zach Wilson. If you really want me to go make that sell or pitch, I would go, ‘Zach Wilson can run any offense. He is ready right now and I think he has less questions about his game than a Trevor Lawrence.’ That is where I would really sell you. “I think his high-end talent is greater than Trevor Lawrence.” nypost.com/2021/03/24/chris-simms-jaguars-drafting-trevor-lawrence-for-wrong-reasons/?utm_source=NYPTwitter&utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_medium=SocialFlowChris needs to sit this one out....
