I would have preferred Davis from Kentucky TBH....(his tape matches his athleticism) Hit all the key spots of our roster with a lot of players ..... I like Bolton...on this board he was I believe in the 60's. Davis I also like a lot,,,he was 22 on this board and gone. I also ignited the trade with the Patriots...rejected a 2, and a yes to a late 3. I just wanted to get Vera-Tucker a few spots down.

Horn without the pressure of being an instant starter would eliminate rookie growing pains.... If these players all hit as planned this could be an incredible haul

To celebrate Barkley working out, I am taking Michael Carter in the 4th round, and Vera-Tucker in a trade back as the OL make or breaks any running back...2 wide outs and some defensive rotation and depth.

R1 P17 G Alijah Vera-Tucker - USC- trade back and get an instant upgrade at a position of need. Thomas / AVT / Gates / Hernandez / Peart is solid.
R2 P10 LB Zaven Collins - Tulsa- stud and probably still my favorite player I watched last year, not saying he’s the best player in the draft but he’s a damn good one. Can do everything you want from a LB. Martinez and Collins would be a LB duo we would absolutely love as fans
R2 P16 DL Daviyon Nixon - Iowa- I’ve always been a big fan of Nixon. He was nasty at Iowa and at times straight up unblockable. We lose Tomlinson but we are able to add another young, very talented DL.
R3 P12 WR Dyami Brown - North Carolina- Golladay, Slayton, Brown, and Shepard would be a dramatic upgrade at WR for Jones. No excuses with Barkley returning, improved WRs, and an improved OL
R4 P17 CB Eric Stokes - Georgia- over 6 foot, ran something like a 4.2 and was really good when I watched him. He’s really undervalued and I’d pick him here with little to no hesitation unless there was a pretty significant player who fell
R4 P34 LB Hamilcar Rashed Jr. - Oregon State- slimmer edge that was really fun to watch in the 2019-2020 season. I like his game
R6 P12 OT Robert Jones - Middle Tennessee- depth OL I like
R6 P17 TE Quintin Morris - Bowling Green- athletic TE that I like what I saw from him

Mock draft 4,976 in the mock draft thread.
Time is running out.
So, this draft had both Chase and Pitts at 11. I have Pitts as the higher rated player...this was an easy choice. Collins in this spot will take care of all the OLB/Edge concerns...we're running a 3-4...not wanting any 4-3 DE's for edge. Carter is a true three down running back, and will block on a blitz...running back 101 as we certainly can't have them running routes from behind the QB on every 3rd and long...lol. Myers at center/guard...I was more impressed watching him on the Buckeye OL than even Davis. Alim in round 4? I doubt that, but an easy pick for a 3-4 defense that just lost Tomlinson. The Whop for some slot action and the Badger for some depth at OL with a possible right guard/tackle starter.
11: R1 P11 TE Kyle Pitts - Florida
47: R2 P15 LB Zaven Collins - Tulsa
76: R3 P12 RB Michael Carter - North Carolina
77: R3 P13 C Josh Myers - Ohio State
116: R4 P11 DL Alim McNeill - NC State
196: R6 P12 WR Whop Philyor - Indiana
201: R6 P17 OT Cole Van Lanen - Wisconsin

Sadly, I think Collins is being taken in the 20's, won't make it to the 2nd, but there should be good value at that pick regardless.

This is how this new CBS mock went the first round - you can see whom I had left at 11. They had Chase 9 on their big board. 1 QB Trevor Lawrence - Jacksonville Jaguars 2 QB Justin Fields - New York Jets 3 QB Trey Lance - San Francisco 49ers 4 QB Zach Wilson - Atlanta Falcons 5 OT Penei Sewell - Cincinnati Bengals 6 WR DeVonta Smith - Miami Dolphins 7 WR Jaylen Waddle - Detroit Lions 8 OT Rashawn Slater - Carolina Panthers 9 CB Caleb Farley - Denver Broncos 10 TE Kyle Pitts - Dallas Cowboys11 WR Ja'Marr Chase - New York Giants12 LB Micah Parsons - Philadelphia Eagles 13 LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah - LA Chargers 14 EDGE Kwity Paye - Minnesota Vikings 15 QB Mac Jones - New England Patriots 16 OT Christian Darrisaw - Arizona Cardinals 17 CB Patrick Surtain II - Las Vegas Raiders 18 OT Jalen Mayfield - Miami Dolphins 19 G Alijah Vera-Tucker - Washington Football Team 20 CB Jaycee Horn - Chicago Bears (Jalen Ramsey clone at 20) 21 OT Teven Jenkins - Indianapolis Colts. (with Quenton Nelson...that's becoming a bad ass OL) 22 DL Christian Barmore - Tennessee Titans 23 CB Aaron Robinson - New York Jets 24 C Creed Humphrey - Pittsburgh Steelers 25 EDGE Jaelan Phillips - Jacksonville Jaguars 26 EDGE Jayson Oweh - Cleveland Browns 27 EDGE Azeez Ojulari - Baltimore Ravens 28 CB Asante Samuel Jr. - New Orleans Saints 29 OT Dillon Radunz - Green Bay Packers 30 CB Tyson Campbell - Buffalo Bills 31 OT Alex Leatherwood - Kansas City Chiefs 32 RB Najee Harris - Tampa Bay Buccaneers So, Collins is finally listed as an edge..."now here's a guy" that can cover, turns his hips on a dime...is 260 pounds, and can get to a QB as well as play in space. Not the sideline to sideline linebacker...but can take care of his edge as a scheme fit, downhill, cover, blitz...move all over, and has the smarts. GL called it, and I was looking too much at him as a thumping linebacker, which he is not. I've been watching a lot of him, and bam...totally sold on him. Thanks GL... 11: R1 P11 WR Ja'Marr Chase - LSU 42: R2 P10 EDGE Zaven Collins - Tulsa 76: R3 P12 OT Liam Eichenberg - Notre Dame 116: R4 P11 LB Cameron McGrone - Michigan 196: R6 P12 OT D'Ante Smith - East Carolina 201: R6 P17 G David Moore - Grambling

OK I know I keep saying this with each Mock, that its my favorite, THIS 1 might actually be my favorite
R1 P11 TE Kyle Pitts - Florida R2 P10 WR Rashod Bateman - Minnesota R3 P12 EDGE Joe Tryon - Washington R4 P11 LB Chazz Surratt - North Carolina R6 P12 C Quinn Meinerz - Wisconsin-Whitewater R6 P17 CB Kelvin Joseph - Kentucky
I used fanspeak- Jake's rankings, but there is no way Tryon falls to the 3rd and no way Meinerz falls to the 6th.... I mean if they do, then that's AWESOME, but highly unlikely.
If it works out this way, we could wind up with 5 day 1 starters. I did 2 mocks and the 1st 2 picks were Pitts and Bateman in both, which would be outstanding and could really bring our offense into the next level.

A bit different as the Saints offered a future (2022) 1st ... Had to take this...even though Pitts fell to me (reality he won't so not worried) Passed on Parsons as well...
TEAM PICKS 28: R1 P28 LB Zaven Collins - Tulsa As I suspected a lot of talent here still..and Collins is the highest player by far on my board...passed on Jenkins,Phillips and Marshall
42: R2 P10 DL Levi Onwuzurike - Washington
Wanted to go IOL..a bit of a run here, noted a lot of good IOLs around the mid 3rd Nixon went a pick ahead of me so in a way a luxury to add more beef where Tomlinson was and he gets rotated in slowly to take over for Shelton in 2022 Passed on a fee WRs here as the main guys I'm targeting are at the back end of this round
60: R2 P28 WR D'Wayne Eskridge - Western Michigan
Got my guy here ...immediate impact on specials and returns A more dynamic explosive and more importantly cheaper slot guy to take over for Shepard and make it easy to delete Shepard in 2022
76: R3 P12 G Aaron Banks - Notre Dame
Mini run on O linemen here ,(Trey Smith was my main target here, taken 2 picks ahead of me)..still had options..decided on a more pro ready guy from a school that still coaches linemen to succeed in the NFL
116: R4 P11 CB Eric Stokes - Georgia
Bit of a luxury pick of sorts..didn't like much here (a few bigger bodied WRs,a ton of safeties..not really keen on a RB here ) Went witb an underwear Olympics winner with skills that can develop slowly at a stacked position group.
133: R4 P28 LB Hamilcar Rashed Jr. - Oregon State
Another luxury pick of sorts..why is he this far back in the 4th.... Adding another to the LB/edge mix
196: R6 P12 RB Elijah Mitchell - Louisiana
My choice for late round RB,more my style and his connections to our new O line coach
201: R6 P17 WR Whop Philyor - Indiana
WHOP THERE IT IS... remember Petis is also a FA next year.... TRADES Trade Partner: New Orleans Saints

Realistic type with no trades (do you honestly think Grandpa Gettleman will do this) Also kept it as BPA as possible (see Ronnie Perkins because I've seen him ranked as high as the mid 30s and as low as borderline 5th..and I would have taken him at 42 if he was close)
Fanspeak Steve 11: R1 P11 WR Jaylen Waddle - Alabama
6th overall on the big board Smith was gone Interestingly Ojulari was taken a pick before by Dallas and would be a terrible scheme fit for them.. So no btaoner for me and now we have an elite fleet of playmakers for Jones
42: R2 P10 G Wyatt Davis - Ohio State
Was looking for an edge here ..huge run on them picked it bare ...(of course as above Perkins normally has a 2nd round grade and would have been the choice here had he not had a mid 4th round grade on this board, which would also have worked out as a lot of the good guards were still there at 76) Davis was litterally ranked 42 so get the day one plug and play RG to go with Waddle to hopefully complete the offense)
76: R3 P12 LB Jabril Cox - LSU
Could have went O line again..but I really was looking for front 7 help here Cox conveniently was the top rated player on the board and helps inside
116: R4 P11 EDGE Ronnie Perkins - Oklahoma
Normally he is a 2nd round graded player right around the 40-50.range and I would have taken him there... But this draft keeping it BPA...
196: R6 P12 OT Cole Van Lanen - Wisconsin Round 6 is where I start to deviate from BPA and take favorites Cole always seems to not only be BPA.but a favorite every time .... And he has upside
201: R6 P17 RB Elijah Mitchell - Louisiana
Perfect back for us and his coach is now our O line coach ....

Waddle could be an OBJ type of weapon for us, line him up ANYWHERE on the field and he's a threat. Davis is a good plug and play OG. He's like the opposite of Hernandez, above average at run blocking and relatively average in pass pro. Cox is an interesting pick, he is a hell of a cover LB, but is that his whole game?? In this day in age you can't have too many cover guys at every level of the field. Dime, Nickel, or 3-4 ILB, he will be an asset. Perkins is a guy you have turned me on to and I'm happy you did. Very good pass rusher, good use of hands, can work the speed to power, but he will fall for the bait on misdirections. Reminds me of a poor man's Kwitty Paye with better pass rushing production but not as good setting the edge and stuffing the run. Great value in the 4th CVL could be a Diehl type of guy for us, a Renaissance man on the OL who could be good anywhere but not GREAT. Hard worker, tough guy, love those Wisconsin OL. He's good in the run game, very good strength on tape (no idea of his pro day numbers), poor length, sub par athlete, but he could be a hell of a depth player, best suited at OG

Carolina Can you pick a more outrageous name? No wonder announcers get paid what they get, the average person would lose their tongue trying to pronounce that name. I was looking up his measurements. He has the length to play in this league. Is he good? I think its pronounced [EYE-A-FEE-TOO] [MELLY-PHONE-WU] That is probably the craziest name out there this season, LOL Draft Projection
Round 2
NFL Comparison
Trumaine Johnson
Overview
Melifonwu has the size and toughness of a starting safety but it's wrapped in an elite package of traits that makes him a very intriguing press-corner prospect. Tape can be a tale of two coverages. His length, strength and athleticism help him blanket and smother targets underneath when he's tighter to receivers off the snap. However, he allows excessive cushion from off-man and doesn't play with the instincts or recognition to stop quarterbacks and receivers from playing catch in front of his face. He's a physical, aggressive striker who ends the catch quickly as a tackler and should develop into a plus defender. He needs to become more consistently curious and instinctive in coverage, but has the potential to become a good starting press corner.
Strengths
Elite traits with expectations of dynamic testing.
Long-body defender who can run.
Ability to mirror early stages of the route from backpedal.
Length to disrupt adds to his downfield speed.
Suffocates routes and catch opportunities underneath.
Angles to play the ball without interfering.
Consistent drive-and-wrap finisher after the catch.
Punishing striker with aggressive mentality.
Able to cast a wide net as open-field tackler.
Size and strength to match up on pass-catching tight ends.
Weaknesses
Doesn't slide feet to cut off and slow release.
High and loose in backpedal, slowing downhill trigger.
Change of direction in space is average.
Allows way too much room from off coverages.
Needs to play with better eye balance and anticipation.
Loses positioning to make plays with back to the ball.
A little tardy in getting rid of perimeter blockers.
Missed games due to injury in 2018 and 2019.

"Physical, long and he is going to test well. For how we would use him, I think he's one of the best fits for us in the draft. I don't see any way he gets out of the second round." -- National scout for NFL team

Carolina Can you pick a more outrageous name? No wonder announcers get paid what they get, the average person would lose their tongue trying to pronounce that name. I was looking up his measurements. He has the length to play in this league. Is he good? Syracuse cornerback Ifeatu Melifonwu is long, rangy, athletic, and physical, making him a toolsy prospect that is an ascending talent. At the next level, his best fit is as a zone corner where his length, ball skills, ability to read the backfield, and leverage routes shine. He is also an above-average run defender and can be relied upon to make tackles should his 2020 campaign be the norm moving forward. He does have some appeal in press-man coverage where his physicality, quick feet, and length are assets. While his ball production in college was modest, he has the potential to be very disruptive at the catch point in the NFL. The most notable room for Melifonwu to grow is in terms of his route anticipation skills and becoming a touch more consistent with coverage spacing. I would understand the idea that his best fit at the next level could come at safety or even as a big nickel that is somewhat of a positionless sub-package defender. Melifonwu has the potential to develop into a terrific starter as he becomes more consistent and solidifies his technique.
Ideal Role: Starting outside cornerback.
Scheme Fit: Zone.

The believe the Giants have a possible few trade back deals with teams depending on how the draft goes mock draft. BPA all the way - and yes, I took Tutu, all 149 pounds, in the 6th round. He was mocked by Daniel Jeremiah in the first round on his first draft..."Tutu...catch the ball and don't get hit...use your speed and route running to get open...then DUCK!" 17: R1 P17 CB Jaycee Horn - South Carolina 42: R2 P10 LB Zaven Collins - Tulsa 48: R2 P16 G Wyatt Davis - Ohio State 76: R3 P12 WR D'Wayne Eskridge - Western Michigan 116: R4 P11 DL Tyler Shelvin - LSU 196: R6 P12 WR Shi Smith - South Carolina 201: R6 P17 WR Tutu Atwell - Stanford TRADES Trade Partner: Las Vegas Raiders Sent: Round 1 Pick 11 Received: Round 1 Pick 17

Certainly not Bill Belichick making that pick
