Sorry, I don't know anything about that. The only balls I've played with have pig skin on them. Let's just say at my middle age I can launch one from my own goal line and hit the other end zone on a fly Wow cool.

I dont think the OP is saying that at all. I think what the OP is saying is if you haven't walked in a players shoes, then you really have no business critisizing that player. There is a difference in actually playing a position in organized football and getting your ass handed to you and knowing how that feels then someone that has no idea about playing the game and just talking shit like they do know. There is no better insight than actual experience and that is what I think the OP is stressing. But than again i could be totally off base so who knows I beg to differ. I pay good money to go and see a football game and I have every right to criticize if I am not happy with the performance. Just as we have the right to criticize a movie. We do not have to be actors to know when acting sucks. Same goes for football. When I see someone drop almost every pass thrown at him or when the QB ignores a wide ope WR and throws into the double coverage for an INT, I do not need to have been in the "chaos of the sideline" or "walk in the players shoes" to criticize them because they suck. Having said that, since I have played professional sports in Europe, I normally do not criticize a player for making a mistake because "shit happens". However, if the same mistakes keep happening then I do not criticize the player but the people who made the decision for that player to be on the field. Why are you directing your hostilities at me? I wasnt the one who started this and I wasnt the one who said it. Im just trying to explain what I though the OP was saying in a different way. Dude calm down, your going after the wrong person. At least that is the what your post reads like to me anyway

... there should be an asterisk beside your username so the people who have seen the chaos from a field level view can interrupt your opinions from a bird’s eye view. That’s all. You do realize there have been verry sucessufull HCs that never played a down. Nick Saban Andy Reid Jimmy Johnson Jon Gruden Dick Vermeil The more you convey you vast knowledge of football. The more it speaks for itself. PS : I played FB and ILB. Just because someone can fry an egg is not an indication that person is qualified to be a chef.

This isn't a message board of former players. It's for Giants fans.
There should be an asterisk next to the names of arrogant douche bags who think they are better than everyone else because they played Pop Warner football.
i would’ve gotten a strike for that exact comment btw Poor baby. When you played football, did you whine to the refs like this?

I get what you're trying to say, and I think there are many analyst that haven't played a down but have a great understanding of the sport as well as those directly involved in NCAA and the NFL. Saban at least played HS and Jimmy Johnosn played for Arkansas with ol Jerruah himself. I don't belive Mike Leach of Miss. State played in even HS. I am actaully curious about how many coaches or FO personnel never played at least HS. I don't believe you need to have played football to have an indepth understanding of the game. It probably puts some fans ahead of the curve, but many study and have a great understanding of schemes and techniques. I played at the HS level in Florida, i think the only thing I have on someone is that I played against some elite players that went on to DI and the NFL and how special a player you have to be to get to that level.

So, you think you're better than me?
Ok....
How many of you posers have played football with a pro football player?
Of which, how many played with a Giant?
And of those, how many played with a HOF'er?
I win.
What if you spent an evening with an inebriated Hall of Famer attempting to get in your pants? Does that count?

I'm definitely an expert now.

And no I didn't get his autograph, but I did steal the jersey he was wearing for the signing event he was in town for. Only fair after he "accidently" spilled his drink on my shirt. I don't know which was worse, his lecherism or his high school move with the drink.

With or against?
Either way, but I was team captain at the age of 10 or 11, and so I selected Rosie Brown with my first pick.
He threw one pass to me that game.
I ran what I would loosely call a wheel route down the left side maybe 20 yards. Rosie was looking right and then fired a pass right at me which I totally did not expect. That ball zipped threw my hands, as I had had a ball thrown to me at that speed. I also had never seen anyone look off a pass like that, so I wasn't expecting it.
