Wow. After 4 weeks our Defense is ranked 5th in the NFL. That right there is something we should all feel good about. We are just warming up and hopefully by the end of the season we’ll really be proud. A Huge Test is coming Sunday when we face the #1 Offense in the league. Now it gets interesting for our Offense which is ranked 31st going against the Cowboys 30th ranked Defense. www.espn.com/nfl/stats/team/_/view/defense

Interesting. Didnt think it was that high. Although still allowing 24 points a game is too much. (T-13th)
Lets see what they can do against the #1 offense.

(T-13th) Lets see what they can do against the #1 offense. 13th in scoring is pretty good with an offense that is turning the ball over as much as we are. They have faced quite a few short fields which helps with the yardage totals. But being able to keep the scoring to mainly field goals is a huge positive.

Yup, they've been pretty stout. Imagine if the offense moved the ball easily and scored points?

It’s something. I argued with a few fans here who thought it would regress from last year. It’s a step in the right direction. If the offense gets going we’re headed in the right place.

I don't think any of these stats are normalize for time of possession. It seems like we have been losing that battle most weeks. Just checked it. At just over 26 mins per game we rank 5th worst in TOP. That means our O is doing a bad job of shrinking the clock.

Very shocked I thought our secondary would get nuked badly early
This is promising Hopefully they start settling on players at certain positions and let players grow (CB 2..ILB ..ie. Crowder )
If this is reality a defense can keep teams close while the offense develops
Still a 5 win team IMi but not the way I envisioned it

We have to start somewhere . The D is a good place begin. I said last week our special teams and defense are good enough to win with we need the OL and to solidify so the QB can do his thing. Even with the OL improving the offense is still under manned at the skill spots this draft that is next order of business.

I think our O is out manned most Sundays at the skill positions. The D has a rock solid foundation they are gonna have to find away to keep some of these vets around Williams and Ryan, think Ryan helps pull the back end together and his work ethic and smarts will help these young kids who ever CB2 ends up being and guys like Love and even Peppers. Martinez and Crowder seemed to work well together last week. Keeping my fingers crossed.LOL when was the last time the Giants had anything top 10 or better 2016 maybe.

I think HC's expectation of a 16 game QB is unrealistic and it shows in the QB's indecisiveness .He is conflicted, The opposing DC knows that . All he has to do stack the box and make a Ob with a confidence issue beat you. Judge caused every bit of this.

We all want to see wins but there has been progress this is a really young team there are only a hand full of guys with over 3 years in the league starting here. I'm more worried about what Covid is gonna do to our cap we were in great shape for this coming 2021 and 2022. This next offseason can put this team over the top if things go right.

I think he would benefit from guys who can get some separation and that starts with the skill position guys. That said to your point new offense and little on field time and no games to get the kinks out he is holding the ball and is late. But that still doesn't change the fact our guys are covered pretty tight most of the time. maybe as the OL settles down that will help Garret get a little more creative. I think Jones after 5 or 6 games will start to settle down once he knows this O a little better he will be more decisive. Thats how he went last year took him some time the last 4 or 5 games he started he was playing at different level.

Last season it didnt matter to him in the regard that he was a rookie so he just played.

Unless the Offense can start to put some sustained drives together the Defense is going to start looking bad. The defense cant be expected to play 40 mins a game for the entire season without it being detrimental to their performance. TOP on the Offense is the defense's best friend. Guys get tired and to expect this defense to keep this up week in and week out is an exercise in futility. Dont expect the defense to keep this ranking if the Offenses cant get out of its own way.
This is one of the reasons stats and rankings are sometimes not what they appear. Our D Is ranked 5th now but in week 12 when they are ranked 22 because the offense sucks you guys will be saying the defense is terrible when in fact the only problem with the defense is that they are tired and worn out because the Offense cant do anything.
I can hear it now this whole team sucks fire the coaches fire the players fire the GM and the best of them Mara need to sell this team.

Thats how he went last year took him some time the last 4 or 5 games he started he was playing at different level. They were getting separation last season with an equally bad o-line. What changed . I have convoyed numerous times on what I think is causing the problems. There is no way the recievers we had last year can no longer get open. Even when the ball is caught . They are getting tackled immediately The only thing it can be is poor ball placement. Getting faster recievers will not fix that if the throw is in a way that makes the receiver adjust his speed slower to catch the ball. This is what I have been seeing all season with his ball placement. Just one example of what he has been doing all season. If you look at 3:14 - 3:21 CJ Board is basically wide open with daylight. If the ball is placed correctly . It is to the house. But it was thrown in a way that took Board off his stride . The fact is Board had to plant both his feat to slow down to catch the ball making the defender close the gap. The next series his ball placement on a crossing is thrown properly to Engram . (Out in front of him) He keeps his seperation and gets Yards after the catch. 3:34 - 3:43. The Pass to Board is more of the types pf passes he has been delivering this season. It is not the recievers. It is the QB . He did not have this problem last season. This is last year . His ball placement was crisp . a prime example on how his throws were out in front of the receiver . On this pass to Tate. 7:45 - 7:49 again 9:34 -9:57 and again 12;20 -12:38, 12:42-12:47. He is not making those throws this year.

The timing is off he is late with the ball as I said I think that is being in a new offense and not enough on field work with the recievers that are catching balls for him. he is behind on throws because of the timing. One big element no matter how much people talk crap about Barkely is he has to be respected and accounted for at all times in the run and pass. That opens things up for the passing game no matter if he runs for 10 yards in a game or 200 yards.

Exactly I think he was seeing it better last year and playing more free think he needs to get himself comfortable in this offense Shurmur is good with Young QBs and I think that showed at least there was production.

Big surprise for me. I thought they would have been a disaster by now, especially their secondary. Big difference in Martinez and Bradberry on the defense. Martinez I think is our MVP so far. It’s no coincidence our defense has been night and day since last year with him aboard. In the first time in like forever we have a Mike linebacker who is ranked with the best of them in the league. He makes the calls, is a terror in the run game, and has played the pass well. He had been worth his contract and then some.
And our defensive line is playing well. They might not be putting up eye popping stats. But as a collective unit they have played very well. Today’s game will be a true test, let’s see how they take on the challenge.
