Wow. An actual come from behind win in the final at bat behind deGrom. And Diaz strikes out the side for the save without giving fans a heart attack. Who was that team and what have they done with my Mets? Did deGrom have to drive the runs in himself? I didn't see the game. He did actually score one of the early runs. He was on third base, I forget if it was a fly sac or if someone drove him in.

Been a few years since I was excited enough to come here. I don't like to criticize any players, so when my team sucks I don't want to dwell on the negative. Same with the Giants... If they start playing well this year, I'll be around more. I do expect they will. Sports for this Giants, Mets, Knicks fan has finally taken the upturn So, what have we here? 7-4 and very exciting to watch. My only complaint is that deGrom isn't 3-0, like Stroman. 4-0 in one run games. If the arms stay healthy and Alonso can give us 40+ (I'm not greedy... Don't expect 50+ every year), it will be a fun season.

And arms wise we still have Thor, Carrasco and Lugo coming. Pretty excited.

This could be a huge year for the Mets. I hesitate to say that because I don't want to jinx it. But they have a lot going for them.
If the pitching staff has everyone coming back healthy, it could be one of the best in MLB history.
But unless and until they prove it different, they are still the Mets.
LGFMs!

By the way that throw by McCann to nail Story to end the game yesterday, My lord!! Yeah, both a catcher who can throw it and a SS to who can put the tag on. Two nice defensive pieces we haven't had recently.

I know it’s early and it can turn around, but how can this offense be so bad. I still say fire Rojas. McNeill, Lindor and Conforto all look completely lost. JD Davis can hit, too bad he’s an incompetent fielder. This team is frustrating as hell right now.

But Rojas isn't the guy hitting or fielding. Lindor was just signed to a $340 million dollar contact and is hitting 210 and threw a whiff to the plate tonight. Is that on Rojas? Still tied for first, need more games before I judge this team.

The good feeling and hoopla about new ownership may have been a welcomed breath of fresh air for these players. Maybe they forgot that good feeling doesn’t equate to wins and winning baseball games on a regular basis requires some hard work and the right mindset beginning in the preseason.
Mets players need to screw their heads on straight.

DeGrom pisses excellence. What a pitcher!! In addition to his obvious physical skills he's so mentally tough. And as a former shortstop, a good baseball player all around.

I've had the pleasure seeing some of the best pitchers in MLB. I was a Dodger fan as a kid, going to Ebbets Field in 1954 for the first time, watching Don Newcombe lose 1-0 to the Phillies. I became a Met fan on day 1, but I was glued to the papers, TV and radio after every Dodger game that Koufax pitched. He has always been my fav player. =Tom Seaver was a fun watch to see him work. He threw a very heavy ball, like Nolan Ryan. Watching deGrom is a true pleasure. He is already one of the great ones. His100mph pitches aren't heavy... they're like little faeries flitting through the strike zone and changing direction just before the futile swings to make contact. The ball leaves his hand and then seems to just get smaller, like a golf ball ripping through the strike zone. When you think about the best you've seen play this game as you get older, appreciate that you got to enjoy his excellence.

Wow. I guess when Jake asks for an extra day off he'll get it every time.
Can't remember the last time I saw a more single dominant performance in sports except for Tiger woods. The batters knew (or believed) they had no chance. His era is .31?
Nice to see his team back him up, both with the bats and the d for his complete game shutout.

29IP with 50K lol Based on 200 IP that’s a run rate of 344K’s and his record might be 8-3 by seasons end

There’s no way Lindor, Conforto and McNeill continue to hit like this. My biggest concern is that the defense is what it is, and that ain’t great. We will lose games because of it.

Then the 1st inning happens today and the bats go to sleep
500 so far at the end of April Interesting that nobody really has taken off in the entire league unless you count the A's sick streak but even then they started in a major hole....
Lots of parity in MLB

Yankees fans would do the same.... New York Mets Fans Are Seriously Already Booing Francisco Lindor The New York Mets signed Francisco Lindor to a 10-year, $341 million contract with the intention of him serving as a cornerstone for championship-caliber teams in the near- and long-term future. When queried as to what type of player he'll be at age 38, the effervescent shortstop radiated with confidence, projecting himself as a "bad motherf--ker." Through 15 of the projected 1,620 regular-season games he'll potentially suit up in orange and blue, Lindor has been quite average, if not worse. He entered Saturday's action with a .204/.333/.278 slash and all of two extra-base hits in 67 plate appearances. His OPS+ is floundering 25 integers behind his career-low of 101 — set last year amid unusual, protracted circumstances. And the notoriously tough New York fanbase is already beginning to grow disenchanted. There were noticeable boos after Lindor fanned in his second plate appearance this afternoon. Already. On April 24th. On what are essentially the first steps of a long journey. Not entirely surprising, but a bit surprising. www.thebiglead.com/posts/new-york-mets-fans-booing-francisco-lindor-01f42w1fsy21

Any pitcher who walks the opposing pitcher on 4 pitches should have to run laps after the game. And if that pitcher scores it should count as 2 ERs.
Just MO.

He showed his frustration today, slamming his bat after popping up with men on base with 1 out.
