I don't understand that. I always thought he was very good. I thought his effort last year was outstanding. Hadn't seen that much effort running since Bradshaw. Would be happy to have him back. 1

I was a Wayne Gallman fan for 4 years. Thought he always produced for us. I was one of the members that wanted him back.
Thought we could have at least gave him a 1 year deal. Still possible I guess but a RB in the later half of the draft would be cheaper. I didn't even hear that they have spoken.

Gallman for whatever reason was stuck on the back of the friggin Giants bus for years....until that's all they had left and he certainly proved his worth....I'd love him to stay if possible....

The gallman situation is def a weird one. I think he wants a chance at being a number 1 back elsehwere though or at least a bigger role as a two. I wouldn't be suprised if he didn't want to come back to the giants.

When I suggested that we already had our #2 back, several here said that he'd get #1 RB money in FA. So I shrugged my shoulders and accepted that feedback at face value. Many here do deeper research than I would ever do.
Looks like I may have been right. Problem for us now is that we've already burned our RB2 money in FA.
BTW, I was always a big fan of Gallman's. He is not a franchise changing RB but as a football player......give me 20 more like him.

Definitely a weird dynamic with Gallman.
I thought he was a good to very good player at RB for all four years. Last year was his best. Was surprised they didn't seem to make any effort to keep him.
Media speculation says it's because JJ wants backups to be able to contribute to special teams. And that could be the case.
Still weird IMO.

I guess he'll be a late roster addition because he doesn't pass catch

I would have been pleased had we resigned him, no idea what the situation is though. I thought he played hard, and is a good back.

His agent must suck.. I was certain he would of found work fairly quickly after the year he had. He’s young, runs extremely hard, can catch out of the backfield, and is decent with picking up a blitz.

We let Downs explore and he came back home. We are letting Gallman explore, and hopefully he comes back home.
Gallman is an average back who runs hard. Every team has one of those on their roster or practice squad.

Kotar was effort. Dan Lloyd, LB, 76 - '79... never cracked the starting lineup but the fans loved him for his effort whenever he was in there. Gallman did a great job last year. I'm sure he and his agent were hoping for a team needing an RB, and willing to pay him starter money. But not at whatever price they were hoping for. Clubs would rather get a lower priced rookie in the 3rd, 4th rnd. If you're not a superstar RB, you're a dime a dozen in the NFL these days

Yeah I always found it odd. I liked for four seasons too. How the hell could he be stuck behind Stewart and so many other backs since? Ridiculous. The guy has always run hard and displayed great vision. Just has a great feel for the game, just give him a small crease and he gets 4 yards. Certainly speedy enough too.

I think if you are a backup RB or LB or DB in the NFL you have to play on special teams or they find someone who can do both. Gallmen was working on playing teams last year in training camp but then they stopped.

I'm a Gallman fan and always liked him and thought he could do well for himself. The problem is now he has 4 years experience and will cost a decent amount of money in a very tight cap year. He is a hard runner but is he going to be so much better than RBs taken in the draft this year? You can probably find a similar level RB in the mid rounds of the draft and at a fraction of the cost it makes a difference.
It might take some more time for teams to see how the cards fall before making him an offer.

I actually mean to say "odd not to bring him back" but as you stated maybe not contributing enough if not used as a starter LL those position groups LB RB Safeties CBs usually are gonna have to play team if they aren's starting and even have to sometimes when they are starting. since the 5 man wedge was out lawed these Faster smaller guys have taken an even bigger role

The Giants are going another direction. I bet we draft a RB to go along with Booker. I won't lose sleep over a RB who had one good year.

If we can get him back as a #2 #3 I'm for it. Duality Aka Gallman is a nice backup, but will never be a RB1

But he'd also be effective in a multiple back attack. he has something to offer.
Let's not forget that he made the biggest offensive play of the season in the biggest win of the year.

Real life says he's a free agent rb with no contract offers and the NFL draft is less than a month away. Reality.

Real life says he's a free agent rb with no contract offers and the NFL draft is less than a month away. Reality. All true. But he got the shaft from our team. He was certainly the second best RB on the team behind Saquan. Yet Shurmur AND Joe felt the need to healthy scratch him several times.
Maybe that will be his legacy. How he got ****ed by his team and couldn't overcome it.
