Does this guy want to play football? IDK about his music career, but his hips look stiff in that video. I'm concerned he will struggle creating separation on short and intermediate routes with hips like that.

He started making music a few years ago. Let's not make too big a deal about this.
I listened to his album the other day and honestly while not my favorite subgenre of Hip Hop it wasn't too bad.

Does this guy want to play football? He’s going to be a problem. Has no interest in being with his new teammates. What are you basing your opinion of him on?

is that considered music these days? Reading the Youtube comments it seems like people actually think that is good, lol. I'm probably that guy that is now in the get off my lawn territory...* But to me all modern hip hop sounds exactly the same (just like there has been only one modern hard rock band since 1997, Theory of a Creedleback) So I have no idea if this is any good or not and I'm being honest GL...do you remember anything last year before he was drafted regarding his rap career?

On the old board, RF would have moved that video and this thread to the Entertainment Section but I contend it doesn't qualify.

Geez, some of you want this guy and all of our players to do nothing but eat, sleep, drink, and shit football. It honestly is really sad. The last time I checked, he is allowed to have a life.
He can do whatever he wants in his off time. He isn't breaking any laws. I didn't like the song either since I'm more of a late 80's- early 2k hip hop fan. However, I'm not going to bitch and complain because he has hobbies outside of playing football. The same people complaining about this will be riding his nuts when he makes plays for the team.
I have no issue with those clowning that song. I do have an issue with those questioning his integrity and work ethic because of it. That seems kind of coded IMO.

I'm glad that I never worked for you or anyone like you. I was a leader in the navy for my last 18 years there and I NEVER held voluntary events against my subordinates. I didn't care if they were fresh from a-school or someone with over a decade of time.

SG, I agree with you; but I think most people are just concerned with what appears to be several little things that have happened. Much of it blown up because he hasn't seen the field yet. If his music interferes with his football, this is a problem for me as a Giants fan. If it doesn't, good for him and have fun. My concern is I do not know if he is someone who is able to handle both or if he will prioritize football to the level he needs to in the NFL. Just concerns over the unknown, and I hope his performance puts those concerns to rest once he begins to play.

So would you be ok with Giants players not working out at all in the offseason and just showing up to the mandatory stuff? I mean, all the weight room and technique work that these guys are doing in the off-season is “voluntary”.

The thing is, fans hold players far too high. We want our players to eat, sleep, shit football. Anything less, will be met with frustration. The NY Giants are a passion of ours, we have been rooting for this franchise before half these players were a thought in their parents heads. This is their profession, and they treat it as such. Look at us, we all have different careers. Do we do our jobs for us? Or for someone else? We do it for ourselves, because it’s us who we have to live with. Professional athletes feel the same way, they just do it on a larger scale. Ask any Giants fan what kind of players they want. Most fans would say they want 53 Mark Bavaro’s. Tough players, who talk with their play and we rarely hear their voice. Players nowadays are all about building their brand. It being music, acting, commercials. You name it, the more they put their name out. The more money they make. You are so right. I was on the couch watching A Football Life reruns a couple of nights ago and watched the two part Lombardi and Emmit Smith and Jerry Rice episodes and all I could do was shake my head. We will never see that type of attitude and commitment again. And all the players addressed the media in ways not to embarrass themselves or the franchise. I miss it a lot and am on my way out of watching all together. Been thinking about it for some time. This same thing was being said about professional athletes during the Emmitt Smith, Jerry Rice days. People just get this false recollection as if the whole league was made up of guys who carried themselves like the handful of legends we remember fondly. Furthermore, I'll point out the obvious and mention our own Saquon Barkley. Whether or not he'll go down as one of the legendary rbs of the nfl remains to be seen, but his attitude and commitment are every bit as respectable as the guys you mentioned. And how about guys like Tom Brady. I guess it's too bad he doesn't have that attitude and commitment of the guys from the 80s and 90s. Maybe he couldve won 20 super bowls with a better head on his shoulders. 🤔....or wait, are you only disecting the character of black guys who have an unfortunate interest in music you don't like and speak in a dialect you think is beneath you? As for Kadarius, give the kid a chance. I mean jeeze, he hasn't even played a game yet. I haven't heard/seen anything objectionable from him since he's been with the team. Getting beat up by fans for making some lousy rap music. It's not hurting anyone, let him live his life.

A lot of them also don't show up for voluntary work outs while working out away from the facility. Blame the teams for not making the events mandatory. To answer your question directly, I would not have any issue with them not showing up for voluntary events. That's just me. Feel free to hold it against them for not being there. I just won't agree with that kind of thinking.

Just concerns over the unknown, and I hope his performance puts those concerns to rest once he begins to play. That's more than fair. Damian Lillard, a basketball player who is actually great in the music industry (one of his records went gold I believe) balances his pro and music careers quite well. No one complains about his other job because he delivers on game day. I honestly feel that people are jumping the gun on the young man. The season really can't get here soon enough. The Giants did their due diligence on him and drafted him in the first round. I trust their judgment on him 100%. You have fans already calling him a bust or even comparing him to DeAndre Baker.

I just won't agree with that kind of thinking. My point is that a lot of what is expected of them in the off-season is voluntary— weightlifting, technique work, etc. — not just the voluntary workouts at the facility. So I don’t understand the concept that not going the extra mile is ok because it’s “voluntary”. Me personally, I’m holding it against a guy if he does nothing during the off-season and shows up fat and out of shape to training camp.
