This upcoming preseason game with the Patriots is going to be Ug-lee.. Belicheck is back on the revenge tour and it looks like he will conduct a scorched earth policy towards the rest of the NFL.. I know its preseason but... That's a nice thought for Pats fans and all but they are lacking in talent and are very far away from challenging Buffalo. If they bench Newton at some point, I expect their new rookie QB to look like a world beater early but I believe that will fizzle quickly as he accumulates game film and, well, will end up looking like most rookie QB's that play in year 1 do historically, shaky at best.

Are we surprised? He missed 13 games last year. Only one who didn’t see this coming was Gettleman. I'm trying to think of anyone who thought this was a bad pickup... I've had my issues with DG to say the least but I try to be at least somewhat fair, right or wrong. Like, his FA signings last yr (if you include Williams) transformed this D along with Graham's coaching & schemes... If Jackson has another repeat (non)performance then those who criticized the move from the start can rightly take credit for that. Me, I'll wait till the bell rings for game 1 before piling it on myself, and then of course pretend I didn't like the move to begin with...

I'm sure I'm on an island here, but I don't want our starters playing much at all this weekend vs. the Patriots. Maybe play a quarter to get used to huddling up under the lights, getting play calls in, lining up and snapping the ball, etc., but that's about it.

I’m always fair with Dave, even though I wouldn’t pick him up in a snow storm if he was stranded. However, this was a questionable signing. The talent is there, but the amount of money to a player who has had his fair share of injuries is also present. No one is criticizing the move now, he’s a Giant. But, who wants to hear about an injury to a player who has yet to hit the field? Minor or season ending.

Giant's injuries seem well distributed this pre-season
1) Seems like every year the secondary gets hit
2) FA's (paid all that money) only to be hurt before even playing their first game is horrible
3) First round draft pick with mystery injury?
Just aggravating, especially when you keep players out of pre-season games, yet still get hurt in practice

The point with Rudolph is the press jumped to a conclusion, even though last week they were told by the GM the team was aware of the injury before the signing and had a timeline set by team doctors. "He could miss 6 weeks", they said... Here we are, with Rudolph potentially ready by week 1 all according to plan. All the press had to do was listen.

Holy christ this thread has been an emotional roller coaster. Can we chill out and see what happens before we doom our season and cast our entire FA class into the pits of hell?
I hope this dude is ok because there is a big drop off after him and starting a rookie out there will make a clear target across from Bradberry.

Well him not practicing sure seemed like a reason to call Dave a moron buffoon and Rudolph a bust. Guess it only works one way though.

This deep secondary is suddenly not so deep at CB. Aaron Robinson being out all of camp is devastating for a 3rd round rookie the Giants traded up to get. There's now an opportunity for Crossen and Josh Jackson to fight for a spot further up the depth chart. That's why you can never have too much depth at cb. I'd love to see stats, but I'd bet CB has the most/longest soft tissue injuries of any position. And it makes sense because of how hard it is on their bodies to play that reactive position well.

Are we surprised? He missed 13 games last year. Only one who didn’t see this coming was Gettleman. And I don’t care if it’s reported “it doesn’t look bad.” Ankle injuries are a bitch. Especially, to a player who earns his paycheck on his speed and athleticism. And to the fans who think this gives hope to our hopeless cornerback Sam Beal. Watch the games, and read the amount of games missed in his career. For God sakes, some wide receiver who played corner last week, got the night off. In part, the ball was thrown towards Sam Beals direction. This is where Julian Love is valuable. He can play corner in a pinch, and can hold the fort down until Jackson is fully healed. Agree it makes some room for Love who played good enough when he got a shot on the outside last year, let Jackson completely heal up.

Injuries all over the league.
All the time.
Every year.
Whether the players have history or not.
Many players do have a history because its the NFL!!! Its a little less than a 1/3 of the players get some type of injury that they have to leave the field for. A very open ended stat but it just points that a lot of guys get hurt.
Jets just lost Lawson to an Achilles. Guy has had 2 ACLs, other injuries in college and now this.
Shit happens.

We signed a declining, aging TE with a troubling recent injury history. No one has a crystal ball but it's troubling that he hasn't been able to function as a football player until today. Now we all seem sure he'll survive a 17 game NFL schedule. And play at a level he hasn't played at in a few years.
Well maybe he will, but the facts suggest that's a long shot.

Well considering last time they played, the O line was one of the worst in the league and the secondary was nowhere close to being that bad (plus we added Jackson in FA) I’d still trash him for not drafting the O line and will continue to do so unless the O line proves a lot of people wrong this year.

I bet you won't bash him for drafting DBs though. I would this year considering our O line. We already had a pretty solid secondary last year and added an allegedly very good FA to bolster it even more whereas they literally did nothing in the draft or FA to make a significant impact on the OL.

He is here as a complimentary piece not as the lead dog not worried about him as long as his snap count stays reasonable
