yeah, that’s a recap of what happened but i was responding to the dollars. Why would any fan care about the dollars for a head coach yet have no worries about the cost of a player (the cap, etc). And i have no issues with Judge I personally do not care about who gets paid what. In this case it is not as some suggest. It was not about Mara not want to pay him. It was Rhule and his agent not acting in a professional manner. I wouldn't classify it as not professional (can't blame him for trying to leverage the situation), and had he gone through a normal interview process with us, I would have had no problem paying him that kind of money, but it would have been stupid of the Giants to agree to that level of salary before even interviewing the guy. Passing was the right decision under the circumstances for sure.

What do you think the outcome will be of that phone call ?

There was only one reason to leak that conversation to the public..... to. make the Judge decision look better. Honestly I think Rhule called the Giants to tell him he to cancel the meeting as a professional. The story doesn't make sense that he called to demand a better offer. How much more does he think the Giants would offer ? You don't burn bridges in the NFL as a coach.

If he didn't why did he not release a statement saying as you suggest. His quote I posted in 78 suggests it went down as reported.

I admit I have not followed or researched this as close as you. I now know there were talks between Rhule's agent and Giants. I do not know what was discussed in detail but found another article stating where Mara stated paying 62 mill for 7years was not a reasonable deal. I still don't see where Rhule's party demanded anything. It could have started as Rhule's party telling the Giants to cancel the interview and then proceeded into talk about the offer. I don't know. If you were in Rhule's position how would you have handled it? We don't have details of the conversation and that is where we differ. I am of the opinion there was a mutual understanding for conversation to proceed to an actual interview between both parties that the Giants had to at least believe matching the offer was reasonable. Mara stated he didn't. I think it was a more amicable parley than an ultimatum. I do not see anything unprofessional or unreasonable in the way Rhule's party engaged with the Giants.

Rhule got a huge offer and took it. Not sure where the “flake out” take comes from.

They were displaced that week and also were decimated by Covid. Yes at least for that week they were one of the worst teams in the league. Actually, they destroyed the Packers 38-3 the week they were displaced from the Hurricane. They played a home game in Jacksonville. Open stadium. Enough excuses. Saints are one of the top 10 teams in this league. They were decimated by Covid that week. If things normal that week they blow Carolina out.
