The Avs have played really tough at home now it's up to Tampa to hold serve on it's homecourt. Tampa better start hitting the Avs like they did the Rangers cause the Avs have firepower something the Rangers didn't have.
Tampa should come out like Lightning in game 3.

Certainly worried about this cap. The rebuild was supposed to be slightly extend the vets and go heavy Panarin while adding in draft picks. Now they went heavy Panarin, Mika, extended Kreider, have Trouba, Fox cost a lot and now the kids will command more dollars. The real future are the kids with too many vets hanging around. Not to mention, way too many left wings.

Cap question..
Can you do as you do in the NFL and do an extension that frees up money the first few years so you can bring back key players?
Example Lightning give Vasi a 10 year extension (goalies can easily stay at the top of their game till their nid 30s as we saw Lundquist,Roy,Bordeur,Price,Quick, ect)but free up enough space next 2 years to bring back Palat and Paul..
Seems 90% of the league somehow have cap issues and I understand why the league doesn't want teams hoarding the top players but at the same time some talented free agents night be lucky to end up on a team and not have to take a pay cut or sign with a bottom feeder that has space ...

Well Let's see if the Lightning can muster their leadership and get them out of yet another hole... Apparently Stamkos had a major closed door meeting type speech after the game.... Is this his "Messier " moment ...
Or has the team quit(and I've seen this team give up before...like early in the 2nd last game, game 6 vs Washington in 2018,game 3 in Columbus 2019....)

Did these teams literally switch uniforms on the way to Tampa? And I'll say it again Colorado's goalies are horrible for Stanley cup finals standards...
I mean OK,nobody is going to stop a wide open Stamkos in front, but even there Kuemper's reaction time is sloth like compared to Shersterkins...
If Colorado goes on to win this it's going to say more about the rest of the team because I can't think of a team in memory that won a cup despite their goaltenders..
Also interesting is how much better of a record Tampa has without Point this year including playoffs than with him (saw this posted..I mean .600 winning % is nothing to sneeze at but over.800% without?
So wondering if Point was a liability out there and Cooper kept him out tonight

If Kucherov is injured seriously, it was simply Hockey justice. I don’t know how Cooper can sit there with a straight face discussing the nature of that hit directly after Kucherov had boarded Manson. You could easily argue Kucherov had the dirtier play of the 2. It is what it is.

Kucherov did which is unlucky. But you deliver a dirty hit that head better be on a swivel.

But you deliver a dirty hit that head better be on a swivel. Looking at social media they do vary actually... Colorado has a rep this playoff run for injuring star players, especially opposing goaltenders (see Blues series),Interestingly that guy is probably out for this series so Vasi is safe Last night was the difference between goalies .. Vasi kept them in the game,Kuemper was awful.. That at most should have been a 3-2 game Also the trend of Tampa still playing careless in their own end costing them both goals,as both power plays they scored on were caused ultimately by bad defensive zone play and then during the power plays..

MVP is interesting in Hockey. Most Valuable? I’d say that Toronto had enough talent that they would still have been a playoff caliber team without Matthews. I get the shiny numbers and high goal total, but I’d say that both Shesterkin and McDavid were of much greater value to their perspective franchises. I will even veer from what you might expect me to say. Nobody is more valuable to their team than Connor McDavid. I guess it would be boring to just hand him the award every year though. Edmonton would be an abysmal team without him and if there was a draft tomorrow league wide, he would be any teams first pick. Anyway, all of that to say that the 2 finalists not awarded were IMO more valuable to their respective franchises without a doubt.

I'll ask my friend who was a hockey agent for 25 years. TB caught a huge break when they were able to bury Kucheroff's contract for most of the year 2 years back. That enabled them to have him in the playoffs without the cap getting in the way.

That's just a loophole that Tampa actually voted against (only one of 2 teams to do so) Chicago did the same thing in 2015 yet crickets (because.....original 6 team in a traditional northern market) It's actually very risky to do this because had they lost Stamkos /Headman for an extended period of time they probably don't even get in the playoffs the East is so stacked so those crying about it are clueless to the high risk this is. So many teams have cap issues going into next year...I'm shocked the Rangers are already at this point after clearing out all the dead weight and building so much through the draft and such... Then again they see what the NBA has become (a group of really good players becoming basicly a group of mercenaries going to teams to win championships that already have a top played because the league allows a "home team exemption " for one FA.....

Okay. Just spoke to him. There is no renegotiating. The contract is the contract. The only thing a team can do to free up space is to buy out the contract of the player at 1/3 if he's under 26 or at 2/3 if he's over 26. They can extend him in the last year of his deal but that will in no way effect his cap hit for said year. This guy repped some of the great players in the game, including your guy, Braden Pointe.

Tampa got screwed on that game winner. Should have been 6 men on the ice, refs badly missed that one.
