My congrats to the Avs, winning the cup is one of the more difficult things to pull off in team sports, and they should be proud. They beat a damn good team in Tampa. Just watch out for the Blue Shirts next year!!!!! Rangers and others will be real good. Should be interesting to see what Fla does this offseason. Carolina has to add a piece.

As a hockey fan I thought it was a great game with the series basically at stake. The AVs goalie I thought played great. Tampa has one hell of a defense nobody it seems can score on them 5 on 5. I couldn't believe all the confusion on the winning goal. Very misleading if you follow this team.. They play too many games mostly in their own end, usually caused by ineptitude trying to clear... Up until this series they have been able to survive (playing a neutral z0ne clogging system also helps ).. These lead either directly to goals or power plays against that lead to goals It is what it is Part of the reason they're always in their own end is their D is big, not lumbering big, but not as fluid as some Ds. That translates well in the playoffs but can wear a team down over the 80+ that they play. It's not a coincidence that the 2 times that they won the Cup were in Covid abbreviated seasons. Their goalie is awesome and handles the puck well, so that helps, but guys like Bogosian, lately McDonagh, Foote, even Cernak...not exactly Makar back there.

I don't think it was the covid abbreviation.... That 2020 run was condensed into a month...back to back games... And having 2 playoff cup runs in less than 10 months is unprecedented... They have always been sloppy though... But definitely 71 games playoff games in less than 3 years if you think about it (they won it 2nd week in July )..they definitely ran out of gas it seemed at times (no Point also meant they only dressed 6 defenseman when they usually dress 7 )... They might want to get a little younger back there TBH..I love McDonough but he has to be on fumes career wise going back to NY in 2014.. Coop also now has to figure out how to manage a roster with a lot of playoff games the past 3 years next season while trying to stay in the playoffs...the east is no joke(why I think Colorado is one and done...just look at all the teams in the East that won 50 or more games,Tampa beat 3 of them on the way to the finals )

Many of their key guys are not spring chickens. I heard the “we aren’t done”, but I suspect they are. Their only real talented youth is the goaltender. Against the Avalanche and Rangers he looked very human to me. The Rangers barely mustered any quality chances for the last 4 games. The Bolts in the 3rd last night was what the Rangers looked like for the last 4 games. Largely shut down, a couple chances with nothing sustained.

Colorado was the better team last night. T.B. didn't seem to have their legs last night, the AV's shut them down. And still it was a 1 goal game. Seems the series in the East are tougher. I feel much stronger teams. But not as familiar with the West. I love the hockey playoffs.
