Doc Brown's time machine may be helpful..For Giants fans living in the 21st century continuity matters if you enjoy watching losing football. That is the only continuity that will happen Well we had two coaches for two years each. Churning through coaches like girlfriends is not exactly producing winning football. Maybe we should try that continuity thing and actually give someone a chance. Just a thought. Well we were not winning with the fabled continuity. Most conscious fans know what the problem is..Reading certain fans fanatical obsesession with an outdated concept is uhh......,....interesting.

Since 2000 they have had 10 HC's and no SB appearances ,the Giants have had 5(not counting Spaggs) and gone to three Super Bowls winning 2

What do you think I was talking about? You're saying "continuity" doesn't matter . I was referring to a nepotistic incompertent organization that don't know how to build a winning football team. The FO. The players are rotated in and out of teams regularly there is no continuity with them. Mara does not know what he is doing. His ego will not let him step aside and let actual football people build the team. He is a control freak. People have a bizarre romantic notion of 'continuity' as if it were a magic potion elixir that if drunk the Giants will magically in the future somehow will become a winning football team. Thats living in fairytale land

Thats living in fairytale land As a 50% Owner he and Tisch have that right . We can chose to be a fan and go along with their choices or we can be a fan of another team. Continuity is not an old romantic idea it's something that good franchise's have .

Facts can be deceiving! Back then Pete Roselle had hired George Young as GM. Today we have Gettleman! Parcells got the Job when our HC quit for a College job. We were drafting our future SB players, today we are not! Parcells won 3 games his first year, so Parcells had 5 wins at this point and won 9 games. Judge has 2 so far. Parcells first 3 years Season League Team G W L T 1983 NFL New York Giants 16 -- 3 12 1 .219 1984 NFL New York Giants 16 -- 9 7 0 .563 2 1 1 .500 1985 NFL New York Giants 16 -- 10 6 0 .625 2 1 1 .500
Whoever told you Pete Roselle hired George Young you might not want to listen to because it never happened - Fact.
The Mara brothers were at each others throat! Pete had to step in and told them to hire Young! At that time it was Important to the league that the Giants were competitive! The Mara's had turned the Giants into a Joke! Remember the Eagle game!

"After the "Miracle at the Meadowlands" in 1978, when Giants quarterback Joe Pisarcik fumbled in the final seconds as he was simply trying to run out the clock and Eagles cornerback Herman Edwards recovered the ball and returned it for a game-winning touchdown, NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle got involved and "STRONGLY" recommended Young to the Giants. He was eventually hired by the Maras, given control of football operations, and three years later the Giants were back in the playoffs." sny.tv/articles/george-young-who-resurrected-giants-franchise-elected-to-pro-football-hall-of-fame "The Giants had just two winning seasons and did not make the playoffs in the 15 years that followed the 1963 NFL Championship Game, in which they participated. Then the director of player personnel for the Miami Dolphins, Young was hired in February 1979 after NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle offered him as a compromise candidate to the Giants' owners, Wellington Mara and his nephew, Tim, whose relationship had been marred by in-fighting over the direction of the franchise." www.northjersey.com/story/sports/nfl/giants/2020/01/15/ny-giants-iconic-gm-george-young-elected-pro-football-hall-fame/4475839002/ Take it from me, it was much more then a recommendation! The Mara brothers had destroyed the team after the 50's and early 60's teams. They were the ones that picked Ali Sherman over Vince Lombardi! every GM and coach hire was a disaster just like today! The Mara brothers couldn't agree on the time of day! Pete Roselle saved the Giants! Take it from me, I was there!

" Wellington Mara and his nephew" Got that one wrong, thought it was his brother! They started fighting from the moment the nephew took over for his father!

What do you think I was talking about? You're saying "continuity" doesn't matter . it only matters when it actually working. It can also be a chicken ad the egg type discussion. continuity in and of itself is not necessarily a good thing.

.............which leads me back to my original point that continuity matters. We’ve been the worst team in the NFL for five seasons. We habitually win one or two games in Sept/Oct of every year. So….just stay with the status quo because continuity is more important? Turning over new HD Coach's , OC and DC and GM's along with QB's every two years or so doesn't work .That is all I'm saying .

Pete Roselle may have suggested they talk to George (as well as others), but it was Tim Mara who reached out to Pete years earlier because his dissatisfaction with Well's handling of the team. After Robustelli resigned, Well wanted his Andy's assistant Terry Bledsoe to replace him and Tim wanted Gil Brandt. Seems to me that Tim was pretty wise.
Well and Tim interviewed George separately at the commissioners office in order to escape the press. Both agreed on George without Rozelle's prodding so they said. Well agreed to let Young run the show, and that satisfied Tim who wanted a good football man to run the team using his experience - not Well's.

Parcells thought he was goner after his first season , he has said so himself.

Turning over new HD Coach's , OC and DC and GM's along with QB's every two years or so doesn't work .That is all I'm saying . I understand your slant. But staying the course with a staff and roster that only produce bad results doesn’t work either. Not a slant. If you change to quickly then no connection can be made from teammates to Coach's ,do you keep bad Coach's or players forever ,of course not and that's not my point . I like Joe judge , he is young smart and willing to let others do what they do best ,he delegates .He has made some mistakes and I attribute that to being young but I think he is good and the players like him. I know it's not popular but to me and IMO you keep DG as long as you keep Judge or at least Abrams . Then if and when you want to can Judge you do a clean sweep as should have been done when TC was fired.

While George Young helped turn this team around & win 2 SBs, I still can't forgive him for not hiring Belichick to replace Parcells & for cutting Simms after he had an a great season at 38 & led the Giants to an 11-5 record & playoff berth. Amazingly enough, we had the #1 ranked D that yr allowing just 12.8 ppg but got blown out 44-3 by SF in the Div rd. If only we coulda won that finale against Dallas , we coulda had HFA & maybe gone on a deep run with that #1 ranked D. Losing to the stinking Cards the week before really hurt us going into that Dallas game. The next few seasons began the great Dave Brown, Kent Graham, Danny Kanell era of QBs from 94'-98' till Collins came here from 99' till 03'

Roselle was the most powerful head of the NFL. When he made a suggestion (jump) the reply was how high. The Mara's had no choice, believe me!
