We lots in common! Dad went with the Mets and I'm with his arch enemy the Yankees and Mick. I was happy for him in 86. They were good. Yes the black out games killed us as we had to go radio. All my 4 kids bleed blue. It was a great when we all went to the stadium after SB. 07. All the kids meet Amad Bradshaw and Jacob's. It was a blast and a great memory. Giants will always mean family to me! I'm sure the same for you and many on this board. My Dad grew up right near the Polo Grounds and was a Knicks, and Giants fan. NY Giants in baseball and football. When the Giants (Baseball) Moved to CA he had no team and for some reason (even though we lived in the Bronx) he refused to root for an AL team. So when the Mets were created in '62, that became his team. So I grew up a Giants, Rangers, Knicks, Mets fan. It makes no sense. That could have been me adding in the Mets instead of the Yankees. My old man didn't get into the Mets until the middle 60's. I was already a Mickey Mantle fan so there went the unity out the window. I can't even watch NBA any more its just crap IMHO. I just watch Giants and Rangers and a little UNC Basketball as we moved to Raleigh 10 yrs ago and my daughter graduated from Chapel Hill. One day I saw a UNC decal on the back of my truck which my daughter slapped on. When I confronted her she just laughed!

Im 34, I guess that makes me one of the younger guys on here. I always been a Giants fan being from Queens, then relocating to CNJ, now I'm in Eastern PA. Around 1999 while watching players like Michael Strahan and Jason Seahorn was when I became a hardcore fan, I haven't missed a game since. Seeing alot of folks age, I now get why alot of you have so much patience with the QB position I work right over the boarder off exit 4. We should get together for a lunch some day. Too bad you missed the days of LT he was so special to witness playing live!

One of the saddest days in NY Giant folk lore was Marty Glickman jumping to the Jets. We actually lived a few blocks from Al Derogatis . WOW, names from the past Most people and things today are forgettable. Marty Glickman was as "authentic" as they come and his back story is amazing. ...world class sprinter, pulled from the Berlin Olympics at the last minute because the pussies on the Olympic committee didn't want to embarrass Hitler. (Glickman was Jewish). Irony of ironies, Marty was replaced by Jesse Owens who embarrassed Hitler anyway. There was an HBO special on the topic produced in 2013. It is worth a look if you can find it.

I'm 56, turning 57 in about a week. I'm from Rome, NY, live in a town just North of Syracuse now. Obviously why I call myself Orange Giant.
I actually grew up a huge Raiders fan until I was probably about 15. I was a huge Marcus Allen fan (one of the most underrated RB's in history IMO). When Al Davis banished him to the bench because of a personal beef...that was it for me.
I had also always liked the Giants, so they became my favorite team.

He did it all. FB, RB played D in college. Went back to FB when they drafted Bo. He could glide like Sayers yet had power and vision unlike most other backs. One of the best to ever play the game for sure.

41. Been lurking around here since my mid-20's going back to the old board.
Born and raised in Raleigh, NC and the only one in a large family not from the Bronx. Die hard fan since day-1 thanks to my Pops. When the Giants got in a rut in the early 90's and they stopped putting them on TV down here, I searched the local newspaper and ended up finding a Giants fan club that was a few miles from where I lived. I rode my bike there every Sunday when I was about 11 years old. I was the only kid in the place, so the adults and bartenders got a kick out of it, but I couldn't miss a game.
The name of the place was Duffy's. Duffy's ended up becoming our family tradition every Sunday for nearly 20 years. There was a great group of regulars that came back every year, mostly folks from NY, and the food was legit awesome. Best wings and ranch in Raleigh, hands down. Miss that place to this day.

That run he made against the Redskins in the SB completely reversing field and scoring was one of the greatest runs I've ever seen. Probably the best in SB history...or close.

I share a lot of the first half experiences of your post. 67 years old. Dad was a Brooklyn Dodger fan. He was heart broken when they left. They were gone before I was a baseball fan, so I was a Yankees and of course Mickey Mantle fan. When the Mets came to NY he was so excited. Everyone loved the '69 Mets but I didn't leave the Yankee fold until 1986. No looking back from there. The Wilpons sucked but I wasn't bouncing back to the NYY just because they were great. My NYG passion came from my dad. We listened to home games on transistor radio. Youngsters here need to know that they didn't televise home games because they didn't want to hurt ticket sales. Truth! Marty Glickman and Al Derogatis were the play by play and color guys and they were AMAZING. Glickman also did New Rochelle (or something like that) high school games on Saturday morning on channel 9 or 11. Schoffner, Homer Jones, Erich Barnes, short stint with Gifford, Alex Webster, Huff, Rosey Brown (beast) and Rosey Grier.........loved them all. Grew up in Newark, remember going to Princeton for Jaycees Classic, pre-season game. Could not believe how big those men were. Anyway, that's the short version. Just call me OB, old bastard... PS proud to say I've pass the passion for the NYG to my kids. Your Dad's story is so much like my own. I'm 10 years older than you. Started as a Brooklyn Dodger fan, loved them Bums Still do have a spot for in my heart for the Dodgers from time to time. But there was no way us Giant and Dodger fans would root for the Yanks when those teams left us. I rooted for every American league team for 3 days or so when they played the Yanks. Then rooted for the next team the Yanks played. The Giants playing at Yankee Stadium was the only thing I wanted to do with the Yanks. Giants, Mets, Islanders are my teams now. Used to follow the Knicks big time but I don't follow basketball anymore. Those black out games I grew up in Queens and Syosset L.I. My father and me turned the TV antenna it was extended high by hand every Sunday toward Connecticut to pick up Hartford channel 3 to watch the blackout games. We had a houseful every Sunday my friends and neighbors on the block. We did this for years. Thanks that was a good memory for me just now as I wrote this.

My avatar dates me to the the '50s. And I have the scars to prove it. I've seen all the highs & lows of our Giants. Always humble in victory & proud in defeat. Anxiously awaiting the new season.

Also to add I became a Giant at age 10 and here in ole South Carolina which I still reside outside of my active duty years, I remember going into one of the 2 grocery stores we had in my small town and going straight to the magazine section often and picking up the football mags and reading what they had to say about us and such, the draft, ect. We didn't have much growing up and I did rake yards and stuff, ect but I didn't necessarily want to buy the mags, I'd just read some in the store everytime I went in ; every once in awhile I'd buy one though. In '89 I ordered the Giants newsweekly and it was the year we drafted Myron Guyton, Greg Jackson, Dave Megget who was actually from Charleston ( an hour from me), Lewis Tillman, Howard Cross, and Bob kratch as most of the names who actually contributed. Brian Williams out of Minnesota was our no. 1 pick at C and man I studied and studied those guys and read and read when I got those papers, I'd read the whole thing even though when it came after a game, it was a week late lol. I'll always say that I gave our Giants a good luck Omen as the next year in 90 we won the SB for our 2nd..... I used to hurry to the tv first so I could turn to the games and I was glued to the tv as I am mostly now when we play outside of the past 5 years if we were sucking lol.. Just a few tidbits of how it all started for me.....

Everyone knows that Al Davis ran his team with an iron fist.. Nothing moved without his say so. Besides Walter Payton.. no one was more well rounded than Marcus Allen. He had a bloodhounds nose for the end zone.. With the speed of a cheetah. A Super Bowl hero who was demoted to a backup. Al Davis brought in every back to further bury Allen into the black hole. Once he got out of his grasp he took the handoff and ran off tackle all the way to Kansas City. Davis saw nothing but red as Allen resurrected a career that was dying in the city of angels. Al made sure he wouldn’t see canton over his dead body. He not only got in.. he skated in on the first ballot.

Yes you got it!! It also describes my emotional age as well Funny thing is, I don't get along with old (over 35) folks at all.. Just today I was backing into a parking space at the local Wegmans and I just (very lightly) tapped the side mirror on a late model Tesla parked right next to me. So I pulled away and looked at the (potential) carnage and I found.....nothing......nada (not even a flesh wound). The owner of the damaged vehicle went completely apeshit and started railing about me driving and the driving style of the area and the fact that I could have totaled his precious mobile (expensive) appliance and blah de blah yada yada (world is coming to an end) yada. By my reckoning the dude was not a day over 84 and cranky as all get out. In the meantime I apologized and offered to mitigate any damage. He then demanded to get all my personal info including insurance and home and other personal items. If he wasn't such an asshole I would have been amenable but decided not to so I told him I left my insurance stuff at home, I will contact him later with it. He said; "I'm a scientist I know this is bullshit blah fn blah"..He insisted so I gave him a fake phone # and name. Just bought the vehicle so the pic he took of the plate was also false.. I got cranky old man wacko vibes so I didn't respond with aggression and I was very polite and respectful so as not to escalate. lol lol yeah that's crazy. Maybe he should be like me as in any of my nice vehicles especially my Stangs, I don't give a damn if it's , well first off I don't drive them in the rain unless I get caught in it but when I drive them and stop and Wally world or store or something, I'm parking waaayyy the heck off so no one can park next to me lol. I don't care about walking. Funny thing is sometimes it'll be someone that'll still park by me and it might be a station wagon lmmfao and smh........
