Exactly. I'd rather put my faith in the talking heads or better yet; the fans. That's the kind of knowledge I'm after.
Never said anything about fans or talking heads. Just that the “experts” in the NFL FOs miss as much as they hit. Unless you think otherwise? I’m sure you do.
The point being of course the only people who lost their minds over the Jones pick were indeed fans and the talking heads.
As for missing on draft picks; it's always happened and it always will. It's a non-story right now.
Getlleman did well with his first draft, and he set us up this year with 3 number ones. Hopefully we got some good ball players from this class as well.

So they are saying he wont be as bad as the immediate media / fan reaction was, but he wont be great. Yay! Mediocre expectations! I expect him to be great. Taken at 6. In between 2 great propect QB classes. When does a QB come out that everyone agrees will be "great"? Not often I wonder how the media knows he won't be great since he hasn't taken pro snap yet

You know what also would be so Eli? The first play of the season being a screen pass to SQB only to get intercepted by a LB for a TD. that could end it for Eli right there in one snap...

You think Eli, nearing 39 years old, with no #1 (and #2?) WR at his disposal, will play his best ball in years?
That would be so Eli.
that would mean that Jones might have to sit the bench for 2020 season to continue his learning curve..

does anybody think Eli will be the starter in game one because he is the best choice or just that he is Eli, just wondering I might. The thing it will come down to is how many reps Jones gets with the 1st team and how good he looks then. Personally, I wouldn't need him to outplay Eli to get the nod, but I don't think the FO will see it that way.

In between 2 great propect QB classes. The 2020 class hasn't even taken a snap in their final college year yet and you're anointing them a great class? Mean while the 2018 class had one QB booted from his team and replaced by a midget, another QB is being pushed by a kid we sent packing last year and a third "great" that only got to start because the guy that beat him out for the job posted a 0.0 QB rating. Call me crazy but it might be a bit too early to call the 2018 draft class great, especially since the best damn QB in the class was taken before our pick.

maybe but you know who doesnt suck , josh allen scored 5 tds is last game Remember when Matt Flynn threw for 6 TDs and set the Packers single game record for passing yards and TDs? Fun fact he started less games after that than he had TDs in that game lmao.

Mayfield-Darnold-Rosen-Allen was a way higher projected QB class than Jones-Haskins-Lock-Murray And right now the smartest college analysts are saying Fromm-Tua-Herbert- ect are going to be better than 2018. That said, How Irish are you Mike? You got the whisky tonight? :-)

does anybody think Eli will be the starter in game one because he is the best choice or just that he is Eli, just wondering Remember YA Tittle? The member here, not the player. I think most would agree he had more intimate knowledge of the NFL than any of us. He posted 1000 times about how important the practice reps are for a QB to get before he plays. 4 QBs that I can think of started game 1 their rookies seasons and put up decent numbers, all 4 got all of the practice reps from the start. I find it very hard to believe Daniel Jones at this point gives us a better chance to win game 1, on the road, in Dallas than Eli Manning does. Check back mid season though.

We will bash DG for not taking a "great prospect" in 2018 even after all our options have failed in the NFL and just fall back on the "they were great prospects though". We have seen them play in the NFL, no one cares what kind of prospect they were anymore. Rosen was projected higher than Mayfield...hows that working out? Just got done watching some Peaky Blinders, great show you should check it out. I'm not one of the smartest college analysts (by all means post of their hit records, would love to see it) but Tua will fail in the NFL, Fromm has looked legit for a few years and Herbert needs to develop this year so we will see. The smartest pee wee analysts are saying that 2028 will produce some amazing QBs too, maybe we should have waited for them.

"Look, if you have a need at that position and you like a guy, you don't play roulette and hope he's there at 17 when you're picking 6,"
Ahh there was a time when I was the only person here to said this about Jones. Fun times.

For Eli the oline is critical but you have to wonder if behind an average oline will DJ get the experience he needs. I would rather forgo a non memorable season but give DJ experience. He can extend drives with his feet something Eli cannot do. I would think the season might be more exciting with DJ than with Eli and more productive for the long haul. I could be wrong though.

You must feel so fulfilled, to have assembled this cauldron of knowledge to wet your thirst.
I really go for the doomsayers. I mean who doesn't love that defeatist mentality? The very idea that our guys will get it wrong - and we'll lose again. There's nothing quite like it.
Buy gold, the markets gonna crash. I don't know when but when it does, I'll remind you I said this

As a fan if thats not what you want how do you come up with the most negative scenario to possibly happen as the first play of the season sad, sounds more like a wish or an I told so fantasy. Because, uh, it actually happened a few years ago. (Sorry it wasnt a pick 6. my bad) First play of the year: Its not a want or fantasy, its a reality. I want Eli to throw 100 TDs and win his 3rd SB ring. That would make me very happy. But what is going to happen is he is going to struggle (again) and throw many interceptions, some head scratching, and lose his job when the chants of "DJ" start circulating the stadium. That's our Eli!

Been thinking Fromm will be really good for a while now, can't wait to see what he does this year. Your assessment about the 2019 class is true of every class, you are lucky if it produces 1 good QB. That is just a statistical fact. A few classes produce 2 good QBs, a few produce zero and 1 ends up being the average. Very rare a class comes along like 2004. My bet would be that just as many successful QBs come from 2019 as from 2018 or 2020. Baker, Jones and Fromm being my guesses.

Hell I had to convince FBomb they would not wait until 17 to pick him and they would take him at #6.

Once every 20 years or so I guess when you think back to 1983s class. So we might be on the verge of another class soon like that. And the way these offenses are run now, I wouldnt doubt it.

You just said Tua won't, so who are the others. And right now, Baker looks to be headed towards being a star, but do Allen and Darnold look like future stars or future "middle of the pack, maybe a bit higher" QB's?

So, we are blaming Beatty and Wilson on that interception.... See.... Never changes. blame beatty , then flowers , then solder. i wouldnt want to be the giants LT . lol you will look bad. Who said it was beatty fault, Eli should have never thrown the ball, what was beatty's fault like it or not on that particular play he was supposed to try to cut Ware and get his hands down or better yet get him down he didn't, Eli is at fault the ball should never been thrown there were 2 trees standing in the way of that play Ware and Beatty throw the ball away.
