Whe you look at the second round WR’s from last year, you start to wonder if you need to use a premium first round pick on one Go through some of the best WRs in the entire league. Davante Adams JJ Smith Schuster Kenny Golloday Tyreke Hill DK Metcalf Robert Woods Alshon Jeffery Stefan Diggs Michael Thomas Keenan Allen Allen Robinson Adam Thelein Courtland Sutton TY Hilton Tyler Lockett None of them were 1st rounders... Shocking... a cumulative list of players from 6 total rounds (2nd-7th) is bigger than a list of players from one round (1st). Makes sense.

I'd be ok with Pitts and a WR, not 2 WR's. Marshall is the guy in round 2, but I'd prefer we take the BPA with the 11th pick. Maybe, but this still leaves the receiving unit lacking in the speed to spread the field department. Depends on what we do in free agency. I don't think we'll rely solely on the draft.

I'm not at all interested in a single FA WR. Their value will fall tremendously over the next couple of years, with their ridiculous contract demands and all these ready now receivers coming up in the past and future drafts. Bring in fresh legs and minds.

The problem is that there is necessarily a projection involved with all rookie WR's, such that you can't be sure that they will give #1WR production in their rookie year and this next year is a huge year for Jones. I like the idea of adding a veteran WR (not at the #1 level) and a WR (hopefully a future #1) in the draft

I was playing around with the PFN mock draft simulator today and more than a couple times I ended up in position to grab a top 3 WR in round 1 and then Terrance Marshall WR LSU was the top guy on the board in round two. I don't see it happening but would you guys be ok if we went with one of the top 3 WRs in round 1 and then a guy like Marshall in round 2?
For me it helps they are different WRs. The first round guys are smaller/faster type WRs and Marshall is a 6'4" beast. It would completely change our offense IMO. Might cost us a good defensive player in round 2 though.
it wouldn’t be crazy. Especially if we resign LW and DT and maybe a find a somewhat cheap 1 year deal pass rusher... bud depree coming off an injury is he gunna get a big deal still?

I think you missed the point Well one can’t answer an anecdote with an anecdote. Based on what was posted there is no way of knowing if it was meaningful or not. Maybe looking at the the top 15 WRs over each year of the last decade along with their draft round. At least that provides some context.

We already went the cheap route with an edge rusher with Fackrell. Time to invest in the position. Unless, everyone is satisfied with opposing quarterbacks playing solitaire in the pocket.

I agree but there doesn't seem to be any worthy in FA or in the draft.. Passing on Allen and selecting Jones has set this position back what now will be looking like 3 years.

Maybe looking at the the top 15 WRs over each year of the last decade along with their draft round. At least that provides some context. Then we would also need to show a list of the WRs taken in each round that did not work out to see what the odds are of getting a good one. If 1000 WRs are taken after round 1 and 200 work out but 100 WRs are taken in round 1 and 30 work out which group is really better? Honest question I'm bad at math and my own post made me lost.
Go Giants!

AJ Green Julio Jones DeAndre Hopkins Mike Evans Odell Beckham Brandon Cooks Amari Cooper Mike Williams Calvin Ridley Jerry Jeudy Justin Jefferson CeeDee Lamb Brandon Aiyuk
These guys were first round picks. And that's out of 1/7 of the pool you listed.
In other words....yes, good WR's can be found all over the draft, as is true for all positions. But you have a far greater chance on hitting on one the earlier they are picked.

Here's why I hope the Giants don't take Pitts. He's a tweener right now, TE/WR. He could be a nice pick for a more well rounded team. I think the Giants need to get players that can play specific positions. Round out your team...then considered a talented tweener. If he was/is a tweener, I'd trade Engram for him if they are the same kind of player being that he should be able to hold on to the ball lol

I get the point and sure, you can get good players esp wide receivers out of the first, but how many non first rounders didn't pan out? The draft is a shot in the dark no matter who/where a player is picked. You go by the data that you have and in most cases first round guys are first round guys for a reason and 3rd round guys, 6 rd guys are there for a reason.

Our WR room has the vet in it already with Shepard they can draft couple youngsters and let Shepard and Slayton help grow them.

Whe you look at the second round WR’s from last year, you start to wonder if you need to use a premium first round pick on one I always say take the best player with your first pick. This year looks like the player might line up with our need as well. I think going with the best player at a position of need is the best way for the Giants to go..

If that is the way the board shook out I could be OK with this
Id prefer if we went WR the first 2 days 1.one of the big 3 2.BPA somewhere else 3.Coxie

Edge or Corner in round 2.

Depends on what we do in FA.. Assuming we don't make any moves at that position I would not mind if we used two picks on wr's from 1-3.. Defense has some good pieces it needs some more, but the biggest issue by far is this offense. If they want to invest in it that highly you won't see me complaining. with the amount of quality WR's in the 2020 draft and 2021, I would prefer that the Giants draft a WR and pick one up in FA. It makes much more sense to get a quality vet at a discount that spending that much draft capital at a position with an abundance of talent. Supply and demand should be driving this decision....
