Peter King mock draft We have reached the point in time, just days away from the 2021 NFL Draft, where it is actually time to pay attention to mock drafts from some of the NFL’s heavy hitters. Trends from the people with the best access to inside information are often telling. King has chosen Micah Parsons for the Giants. He writes: Last Giants’ first-round linebacker: Carl Banks, 1983. Okay, so once every 38 years a linebacker comes out who’s worth it. The Giants always do a good job disguising their intentions, and this year they’ve been particularly good. Three things I’ve heard: Joe Judge loves DeVonta Smith; the organization likes cornerback Jaycee Horn a lot; and Dave Gettleman loves Parsons. If you can get past some of the immature pockmarks on his résumé, there is so much to love. Easily the best linebacker in the draft, with the ability to be a top edge player and double as a sideline-to-sideline presence. Now, he’s only a one-year starter, didn’t play football last year, and the Giants will have to be comfortable with the fact he’s had maturity issues. Smith or Horn could easily be the pick here—Parsons is my best guess—but 4.36-in-the-40 linebackers are quite rare. it is worth noting that Rashawn Slater and DeVonta Smith were still on the board when King made this pick. www.bigblueview.com/2021/4/26/22402961/giants-rumors-news-4-26-peter-king-mocks-micah-parsons-to-giants-nfl-draft

Now, Im not saying this is a lock, cant beleive everything thats out thre, but it seems our pick leaks out about a day or 2 before the draft on who we really like. Happened the past 3 drafts I can recall.
I love Parsons talent level, but don't like his character. Huge risk, huge reward here. I would be ok trading back some and then taking him to add more picks.
If he truly turned a corner with his character and maturity, he is a HUGE addition to our defense IMO. I think he is the 3rd most talented player in this draft.

If Gettleman is all over Parsons after getting burned on Baker, he is dumber than I thought.

If Gettleman is all over Parsons after getting burned on Baker, he is dumber than I thought. I think he is a terrible GM, but I understand the intrigue here. Baker apparently was lazy and falling asleep at meetings. A huge red flag for a prospect in their determination to be great and preparation to understand a playbook. Parsons isnt that. Im not writing off or excusing his red flags because they are big, but he isnt a "lazy" or "undisciplined" player concern. His red flag is maturity. Its hazing. Its bullying. Still bad and worthy of concern for sure, but not like what Baker was.

I wonder if Parsons even makes it to 11. Good chance he doesn't.
Interesting to see that 2 of the 3 names mentioned are defense in Parsons and Horn. 99% here think offense.

His tape on field doesn't lie Gun to head Parsons >Paye Parsons won't make it to us it seems ...I see 3 teams ahead of us that could take him

We are going to see who has the biggest voice in the room This isn't going to be a unanimous or near unanimous consensus at 11 So... a scenario;
Judge wants Smith, Getty wants Parsons. Judge says to Getty "Get me Smith!" Getty "I'm the GM and I'm drafting Parsons" and he does.. Pisses off Judge..How long do you think Judge lasts in the org after that? Especially if Smith shines elsewhere and Parsons becomes another Deandre Baker

Im pretty sure Gettleman would be fired first if thats the case, and Judge is given the Belichickian key.

This is my theory with Paye more than Parsons Parsons has people on Judge's staff that were at Pen State that Judge personnelly trusts .. Parsons as on field production Paye has none of this and is not the best fit... Does Chris Mara have the power some of us fear because some of these inexplicable bad picks that make no sense that have happened for over a decade cake from somewhere (and Ross/Reese to now Gettleman and still the same things ,one constant),the same reason we still have a very ancient hight weight thing when it comes to linebackers while the rest of the league are downsizing them.. Tonight and tbis weekend will tell us if we have indeed become a modern franchise or we are still stuck in the stone age

You think Peter King knows what the each individual on the NYGs staff want? if I was to guess I would think Judge would love Parsons and DG would love Smith and who exactly is "the organization".

I agree.....and DG specifically mentioned how difficult it is to draft LBs because they have to fit the system specifically. Sp Graham's voice will be heard here too.

If Gettleman is all over Parsons after getting burned on Baker, he is dumber than I thought. Baker was a lazy sack of shit. Parsons is the furthest thing from that, his issue seems to be maturity. Which, with good guidance and structure. He could thrive here. I’m no fan of Gettleman, but I like how he recognizes talent.

I love Peter but who in their right mind on the Giants would feed him this?
Chris Mara? I've always believed Chris is the source for leaked front office stories.
Pat Hanlon? Would Pat even be privy to this information at this point?
In any case, I'll take Smith and be very happy.

Chris Mara =Fredo I know it was you, Chris. You broke my heart. The sad thing is, everyone is going to take this article as gospel because PK wrote it and if we take Parsons (which we absolutely should IF he falls to us, because he is a beast) it will be "Gettys pick" and everyone will hate it.

Pretty sure Graham had a big say in those late round LBs last year that actually panned out. They fit his system and it showed. Carter-Coughlin, Crowder, Brown, Brunson... That and adding Martinez really changed our LB corps in 1 year.

I'm believing Parsons slides well into the teens...those are some serious red flags, and odd how you never hear a word on the NFL network.

If you guys were the owner, who makes the final call for you on the pick (forget about the names Gettleman and Judge for a second)? The GM whose job it is to make the pick or the HC who knows what is best for his system?

I really think Judge likes this guy....I think he has him behind Smith for his preferred pick
