According to Daniel Jeremiah teams aren't excited at next years QB class and he expects 4-5 teams to try to trade up and take a QB this year, so what does this mean for the Giants?
Does Schoen look to trade back and accumulate picks from another QB needy team, or maybe this raises the asking price for potentially trying to get the #1 overall pick from the Bears?
For those wondering the top two draft prospects in the 2025 NFL draft are Shedeur Sanders and Quinn Ewers, who are considered to have lower ceilings than Maye and Williams, but it's way too early to be making that assessment and you usually have one dark horse QB prospect who has a career year as he's set to declare for the draft, which ends up putting him in the conversation as the top prospect.

Of course, like any year there will be risers and some that come out of the woodwork...but I do agree, if you want a QB or think you are going to need one soon, this may be the year to try to get one and Jordan Love him for a year or two.

That's kind of a contradiction if 4-5 teams are planning to move up for a QB.

Take JJ McCarthy at 6. Kid is a perfect fit here. Undervalued because he did not play in a video game offense. If he returned to Michigan he goes top 5 next year. Take him now, get him in the building and learning. Jones can play in 2024 until he gets hurt or fizzles. We can not hide from QB. Jones can not be trusted and a journeyman competing with him is pointless, the goal is to be contenders not pretenders. We need to find the Schoen/Daboll QB or their regime is doomed.

Reads the field. Can run, does not look to run. And he has an extroverted personality, which is what I want in the next QB. We need a leader of men. Not a guy that acts like he is in a coma.

Not directed at you but HS, Jeremiah is just trying to create more interest in his postings , by October next year there will be 4-5 QB's that will be can't miss.

By this time next year, you will be hearing about Drew Allar, Carson Beck, Jalen Milroe and Riley Leonard. KJ Jefferson, Dillon Gabriel too. And when he lights it up and wins the Heisman and a Natty, Kyle McCord.

2023 Draft had a record 6 trades in the first round. Also 41 total trades in the draft total. Also a record.
Those 6 trades produced:
Trade 1 Texans receive 3rd overall pick: Drafted EDGE Will Anderson Jr. 105th overall pick (acquired by PHI)
Cardinals receive 12th overall pick (traded to Detroit) 33rd overall pick (traded to Las Vegas) 2024 first-round pick 2024 third-round pick Trade 2 Cardinals receive 6th overall pick: Drafted OT Paris Johnson Jr.
Lions receive No. 12 overall pick: Drafted RB Jahmyr Gibbs No. 34 overall pick: Drafted TE Sam LaPorta
Trade 3 Eagles receive No. 9 overall pick: Drafted DT Jalen Carter
Bears receive 10th overall pick: Drafted OT Darnell Wright 2024 fourth-round pick
Trade 4 Steelers receive 14th overall pick: Drafted OT Broderick Jones
Patriots receive 17th overall pick: Drafted CB Christian Gonzalez 120th overall pick (acquired by NYJ)
Trade 5 Giants receive 24th overall pick: CB Deonte Banks
Jaguars receive 25th overall pick (traded to Bills) 160th overall pick: Drafted S Antonio Johnson 240th overall pick: Drafted FB Derek Parish
Trade 6 Bills receive 25th overall pick: TE Drafted Dalton Kincaid
Jaguars receive 27th overall pick: Drafted OT Anton Harrison 130th overall pick: Drafted DE Tyler Lacy
Not 1 QB moved up for
Last year's QB class was way better than this one. 1. Bryce Young, Alabama · 2. C.J. Stroud, Ohio State · 3. Will Levis, Kentucky · 4. Anthony Richardson, Florida ‎5. Hendon Hooker, Tennessee
I do not buy this take by Daniel Jeremiah. There is no Mahomes, Eli, or Lamar Jackson on this draft.

This is a mediocre class not worth the draft capital to move up for any of them.

You take JJ McCarthy at 6.
Logic:
He is 21, true Junior. If he returned he likely goes 1-5 in 2025, but we get the benefit of having him in our fold now. Learning from our coach, learning our scheme, in an NFL lifting program
If Jones stays healthy and plays well he can redshirt. If anything else occurs he takes over from that point on.
QB development and scheme are why Brian Daboll is here. Give him the guy to develop. It’s that simple. If one of the other 3 falls and we have choices even better.

I don't care if it's considered a reach, we need to draft a QB this year.
If he busts, draft another QB next year or in 2026. If he ends up being a game manager, don't offer him big bucks when his rookie contract expires. Draft a better prospect if one comes along, draft another game manager as his replacement, or offer him an extension more in line with his actual value.
Game managing QBs are not hard to find in today's NFL. Multiple are available nearly every off-season. There's no reason why teams should find themselves in QB hell for years on end anymore.
In today's NFL, teams shouldn't have an issue finding competent QB play. There are multiple game managers nearly every year in FA or the draft. The problem is teams overpay those game managers rather than drafting another.

QBs need to be coached up and supported. They cant be taught to fear mistakes like the Judge Giants did to ruin Jones. They cant be left on the field outmanned for years. Get a kid in here and develop him. Get him weapons. Finish the OL. Have a sense of urgency within the plan. Tomorrow never comes without today.

Penix and Jayden Daniels were mid round guys coming into this year, a lot can change in a year. Now I see some mocks having Daniels #2 overall. I like Jeremiah and I'm sure there is truth to what he is saying but he works for the NFL and has a job to do...sell this draft.

Is McCarthy elite on another good QB? While we need a QB for the future we do have one at least for next year.
I believe the Giants take a top WR and if one of the QBs fall into Rd2 then possibly take a shot there.
Need to see how FA goes for the Giants to fill in the OL which is key, plus Edge, CB & LB

Hes got the stuff you cant coach. Hes raw compared to the others but I think he has the highest ceiling. Hockey was his sport growing up. I love his energy and positivity. Seems like a true motivator of teammates as well as a leader.
