I have been warming up to drafting JJ he has some mr developing to do surprised he wasn't further along with Harbaugh as his coach he has some pretty solid traits. Hes got the stuff you cant coach. Hes raw compared to the others but I think he has the highest ceiling. Hockey was his sport growing up. I love his energy and positivity. Seems like a true motivator of teammates as well as a leader. This is gonna be a mad scramble for the guys who come after the top 3 think there is gonna have to be some reaching going on if you want one.

If we dont take him at 6, he may be gone at 17. You don’t get a redo, gotta get your guy

I think we need a QB in a bad way the players seem to really like Jones but that doesn't fix his flaws.
This will be an interesting top 10 picks because the Chargers or Cardinals could trade out for picks just move down 2 to 4 picks.
Giants love this kid they will have to beware of whats happening around them.

I agree with you but you will never get players and or coaches to lay down if they can win there gonna win all they can do now is try to makes the best possible move if there is a QB they love is there after the top 3 picks.

Playing in NY is a different animal, not sure Caleb Williams would have worked out in this market.

What you see now and the way they were touted??? Did you not mock 3 QB in top 10 in last year's draft contest? What does that matter? Team overreach for QBs. I have 4 as of now in 2024. Williams, Maye, Daniels and McCarthy. Nix and Penix could also be 1st rounders. They do reach But not move up 4-5 times in the first round. That never happened. I do not see it happing in April. I MO: It Is talking head click bait. If a GM wants to get fired. Move up in the first to take a 3 round QB. I hope some idiot GM does. Allowing the Giants trade out and take a slew of his draft picks over the next 2 drafts.

These are some of the ones I use in ranking. Arm strength, How does he handle pressure? Does his demeanor change with pressure? How does he handle good covered? Does (can) he throw into coverage? What is his percentage in completion differential between wide open and having to thread a needle? Is he safe in his play or is he a risk taker? When he takes risks are they justified? Does he excel playing from behind? (not about win or loss) but does he fold. Outside of Arm strength. What I listed not skill set. They are personality traits that interview process will never divulge. Film is all seeing. This is where analytics can build a draft profile better than prospecting. A QB can look lights out great three quarters of the time in the NCAA because of the nature of the college game. That 25% of the time it is NFL like. How he handles those situations is what is needed to be revealed. Not how good he looks when it is easy.

According to Daniel Jeremiah teams aren't excited at next years QB class and he expects 4-5 teams to try to trade up and take a QB this year, so what does this mean for the Giants? Does Schoen look to trade back and accumulate picks from another QB needy team, or maybe this raises the asking price for potentially trying to get the #1 overall pick from the Bears? For those wondering the top two draft prospects in the 2025 NFL draft are Shedeur Sanders and Quinn Ewers, who are considered to have lower ceilings than Maye and Williams, but it's way too early to be making that assessment and you usually have one dark horse QB prospect who has a career year as he's set to declare for the draft, which ends up putting him in the conversation as the top prospect. This comment about next year’s QBs is really worthless at this point. We have seen “can’t miss” QBs that totally suck, and others that end up being stars after huge doubts about them going into the draft. The Giants will do what they thinks is best at No. 6, QB or whatever position. At this point any of the top 10 rated QBs in this years draft could be future stars or future busts.

The process plays out and guys go where they go. The visits, workouts, interviews, and combine are a huge part of the draft process. The rising I am referring to is during mock season. He will rise because he is 21, has franchise QB physical abilities, has been groomed by a legit NFL coach, and has an “it” quality that those around him talk about. He will lead, not wait to be led. He can throw the ball over 80 yards, he has a Roger Clemens fastball, he is accurate, he is accurate deep. The only thing he lacked in college was playing in a video game offense with Round 1 WRs. And I like that because it is not real. Also these kids are at the start of their journey. The work is in front of them. Getting McCarthy in 2024 is like drafting the # 1 pick of the 2025 draft now. And with Jones locked in financially for this year McCarthy can sit and watch. Learn the scheme. Learn the speed. Be in the film and weight room. Getting coached up by our coaches. Then takeover when Jones goes down or the season is lost. When I watch him I see a young Aaron Rodgers.

The draft is about projecting forward as much as it is looking backwards. McCarthy had Round 1 grades from most of these guys before this process even begins. The game film ended in January, but their story does not end there. If you look closely at McCarthy’s physical abilities and insert him into the USC, Washington, Texas, Oregon offenses with those weapons and defenses on his schedule, the stats would be there because the volume is there. I follow guys on X posting game film of him daily, he has the stuff as a passer.

Take JJ McCarthy at 6. Kid is a perfect fit here. Undervalued because he did not play in a video game offense. If he returned to Michigan he goes top 5 next year. Take him now, get him in the building and learning. Jones can play in 2024 until he gets hurt or fizzles. We can not hide from QB. Jones can not be trusted and a journeyman competing with him is pointless, the goal is to be contenders not pretenders. We need to find the Schoen/Daboll QB or their regime is doomed. IMO McCarthy will end up being the best of this years QB class when all is said and done. He won’t be a reach at #6. The combine hasn’t even arrived and he has moved into the top 10 - 15 picks in mocks already. He can sit behind DJ and eventually over take him.

I have a hard time trusting ACC QBs personally. Maye has the traditional QB look going for him and I’d take him if he were the one to fall to 6, but if both were on the board I lean McCarthy.

I agree - I have watched Maye a dozen times at least. He’s very ordinary most of the time. ACC defenses are not very impressive for the most part yet Maye shined inconsistently.

Is McCarthy elite on another good QB? While we need a QB for the future we do have one at least for next year. I believe the Giants take a top WR and if one of the QBs fall into Rd2 then possibly take a shot there. Need to see how FA goes for the Giants to fill in the OL which is key, plus Edge, CB & LB He’s 21. He has the tools to become great. Gotta trust this staff to develop. This WR class is so deep. A guy like Legette could still be there in Round 2 and he has WR1 traits. I go QB, then attack from there. Hopefully the OL and a need a spot on D are solved in FA. I think we'll have to trade up for Legette in this case. Get a stud OL in FA. Get a QB. Use both our seconds to jump up to get whatever WR you love most mid to late first round.

Having the 2 round 2s is nice, I’d prefer to keep them if possible, but if a player we love slips we have ammo to make that move.

He is def gonna climb, but you can’t overdraft a QB. If you want him, you want him. If you want him, draft him. Same reason I had no problem with Jones at 6. If we dont take him at 6, he may be gone at 17. You don’t get a redo, gotta get your guy Why and how? There is no more film on him. His film is what designated him to what he is ranked, When his play is what it is. Isn't moving up based upon a non-qualifying reason to proclaimed that. You know why GMs are changed at a rate of 20% every offseason. It is because they listen to idiots in the media rank draftees based upon likeability and not skill. Not a lot of fans caught this observation in last year's draft. Not only were QB not moved up for in the first round. There were also a bunch of day 1 ranked players picked on day 3. What this is showing is these so-called pre-draft ranking by individuals in the media are not taken as seriously they once were. The betting industry's motivation in ranking the way they do. They're the betting industry. Never ever trust what they say. When a QB is looked at. There should be a series of metrics attached to each game film on him. The evaluation process takes time. GM's don't listen to the media, it's the other way around. Players only seem to "rise" when the media's catches up to the scouting community. The senior bowl, player interviews and character assessments all play into the direction of a players stock post college season. A player like JJ gets overlooked at the end of the college season because of all the attention other players are getting. A college QB's play is not what it is, it's only judged by what it can be in the NFL. JJ isn't rising, his value is simply being acknowledged.

How do teams factor in weather, field conditions, injuries, opponents and their injuries, and match-ups into their analytics? Especially for a 20-year old QB like McCarthy who hasn't even scratched the surface of potential. They can't be judged the same way as Penix or Nix.

When I watch him I see a young Aaron Rodgers. i do like the idea of a qb in the waiting waiting at least one year but if we had someone decent to let the guy learn for 2-4 years like Love I think he'll be that much more ready and better potentially too......

If they trade back, the front office might as well update their resume at the same time. I'm so over this team rarely showing any initiative or aggression. If they love a QB, they better do whatever it takes to get him.
