If Schoen was smart, he would have ascertained a quality QB in free agency or in the draft. Not necessarily to replace Jones, Who? I think Lock was a pretty good signing as a backup. He played quite well in the limited time he got last year in Seattle. Looked like a different QB from the one we saw in Denver.

Expectations is hoping Jones doesn’t play like shiat.
The Giants did try to move up in the draft to replace him and had the Giants been picking in the top 3 they would have drafted a QB.
The GM never shut down the media this off-season who kept peppering him with QB questions.

I expect him to play poorly because he isn’t a starting caliber quarterback. Drew Lock will be starting by October 15th. Drew Lock couldn’t beat out Geno…..try again.

There are no words to describe how much I disagree with this statement. These "bell cow" RB's can wreck an offense. They need to be fed and they strip the dynamics out of an offense. It happened even when Eli was still here. The best thing that could happen to our offense was the departure of Saquan Barkley. QB's LOVE the crutch of a guy to dump it off to after the first read is gone. The same thing happened when Tiki left. Great player...Great production. But we excelled with a multi back offense with Bradshaw and BJ after he left. That is the new NFL. The ONLY way to win is with a multi back attack. This is what Dave Gettleman refused to accept. He was living in the 20th century in a 21st century league. Yes....Malik Nabers will have a far greater impact than Saquan on our offense. So, a few things here. First off, you know Im a proponent of the saying "RBs are a dime a dozen". They are. And I did think SQB was overrated here. He was. However, he was still a focal point on the offense and our best weapon when healthy, which wasnt often anymore. Daniel Jones needs help all around him to be a good QB. Secondly, you simply can not compare SQB leaving and Tiki leaving. Eli is a thousand times better QB than Jones. And thats being nice. When we lost Tiki, we had a GREAT OL established. We had Plax, Toomer and Smith at WR. We had a dominant pass rush on defense to help out. We dont have those things (pass rush to be seen with addition of Burns). Those things masked losing Tiki Barber, one of the greatest RBs in a 5 year window the game has ever seen. Bradshaw and Jacobs were an awesome duo. We dont know if we have that yet. Thirdly, Malik Nabers hasnt done a thing yet. We have no idea on if he will even work. What if HE benefitted greatly from Thomas on the other side and Jayden Daniels threat to run sucking up defenses at LSU. We dont know yet. From thnigs Ive heard, he gets jammed at the LOS pretty easy. I think Nabers should be a great WR, but I have to see it first. He most likely wont be as impactful as SQB in year 1, and that might be all we have left until we hit reset again. All 3 QBs could be gone next year, Daboll could be gone, which means all coaches will be gone. (PS, the best thing that could have happened to our team was Daniel Jones not coming back and SQB staying to be honest.) Nice try sunshine…..just repeating the same old tired lines…..and anyone who questions whether Nabers will have great success is something that knows very little about football, especially at the NFL level.

When healthy and with a good offensive line Jones is a really good QB in 2022 he had what like 4 game winning comeback drives or was it 6? that is the real Daniel Jones. last year from the start the offensive line stunk so did the WRs and defense. Jones had a mere second or two to throw the ball before being sacked last year. MY fear is Injury not ineffectiveness Keith McPherson on WFAN said Jones's injury was the same as Kyler Murray's the year before and Murray missed most of last year and then your never the same runner ever again and afraid to get hit, he doesn't think Jones starts the season next year I agree regardless of what the team or Jones says. I think Lock is the game one starter and if he struggles they go once again to Devito. I could see a trade for Russell Wilson Pittsburgh has a logjam of QBs No offense, I get so sick of hearing about “game winning comebacks” and have posted links to articles on why that stat can be very misleading. If he was that good, why were we behind in the first place. You can blame some of it on defense but it’s not like we were getting into offensive shootouts with these teams. Not to mention, we beat one team by double digits (the tanking Colts, and won 3 of our last 9 games. anything, we were the luckiest team in the league that year, every team gets lucky but literally almost everything that could go our way, went our way and once teams started figuring out or new offense (not Jones) we stopped winning. ****, I almost wish 2022 never happened, so many people were and still are living in a fantasy of what that season really was.

Giants now have a few impact players. Jones is one of them. I look for Jones again to have a top 5 completion rate. With improved team he should throw for far more yardage.

I remember the first time I saw this family of Giants fans after we won our first Super Bowl and I gave them the business as they rightly deserved for their comments that Simms sucked and we could never win the Super Bowl with him. So what was their reaction? Ah, he got lucky. FFS, when we're wrong we need to man up. If Jones gets decent protection and plays poorly there should be no excuses. At this point Jones has no excuses (really for two seasons now but his crew will always make them). He has to elevate his play and be a very productive contributor to wins. Period. And if he ever takes the Giants to the Super Bowl and goes 22-25, 270 yards, 3 TDs and 0 INTs en route to a blow out win… I’ll get an entire back tattoo of his face. Calling it right now ”He’s coming off an ACL injury, that takes time” ”The O line needs more time to gel” ”He hasn’t had any time to work with his new “weapons” ”He’s still shell shocked from last season” ”Wait until next year”

Drew Lock sure as hell isn't a starting caliber QB. Everyone said the same thing about Geno Smith. and everything that was said about Jones was said about smith...hmmm. Maybe the fact that he got weapons changed his game? oh wow what a concept

Will Nabers be more impactful than Saquon Barkley? Doubtful. Go check out DJs splits with and without SQB. There are no words to describe how much I disagree with this statement. Seems ironic. oh and the fact that the FO doesn't agree with you either is cute

This team needs more time to gel than they did in the 2022-/033 team when started off the season 6-1? Not. If his weapons are where they need to be he'll hit them where they are. No reason to suspect they won't know their routes. You're shell shocked, not Jones. Schoen would have drafted McCarfhy if he didn't think Jones would not start the season.

Phil Simms think so about Lock. I watched his evaluation of him and he liked what he did last year. He said his improvement was eye opening and the needle was pointing up for him. Sorry I don't have the link. This interview? Simms on Lock starts at 13:17
Thanks for posting this as it reinforces why I enjoy listening to Phil talk about football.
Phil knows his shit as opposed to so many others who simply talk shit.
I'll also add that I think Pat Leonard does a good job with this. The guy obviously studies the game and works hard. If he would avoid drama and stick to football he'd be okay in my book.

Gone are the days practice squad WRs holding our offence back! We never drafted an OL this year, so the front office believe we should be average on this front. So do I. Andrew Thomas + average OL all around is a pretty solid unit. Tracey Jr will be a chess piece third down weapon, Singletary will be a great 1st/2nd runner and will be more consistent than Saquon. Yards: 4250 (250 YPG) Passing Tds: 30 (1.7 TDs/game) INTs: 10 We can leave rushing out as with the ACL, and a receiving corps of Nabers, Hyatt/Slayton, Wan Dale + Bellenger/Theo (both absolutely athletic freaks/mismatches) should increase our propensity to throw the ball Separation issues are a thing of the past. 250 YPG and 1.7 TDs/game is low hanging fruit - right? We have held Daniel back for too long, looking forward to watching him thrive no reason why those numbers can't be had in today's game. No more excuses Danny, everything is right in front of you...............

Stop it this is the same. lol ok, Jones just came off a season throwing 30 TDs, signed a new contract this year and Lock will beat him out. nice work 👍 New contract has nothing to do with the amount of TDs they threw. they both signed new contracts and will be the QB this year. Everyone can hope that Lock will do what Jones hasn't and that is improve a ton.

Will be interesting since he has never played with a receiving talent like Nabers dating all the way back to his college years at Duke. Closest thing to a receiving weapon in terms of talent that wasn't washed(Golladay/Waller) or Injury prone(Toney) would be Evan Engram?

But overall my personal expectations of what I want to see are: I want him to see the open reciever and the big play opportunities and hit them and stop making the bad game changing plays; propel the O to plays that help you win games which is taking advantages of the big ones when they are there..........
do all of those things and the numbers should fall into place......
