If it turns out that this whole thing gets dropped, I hope we go back to the practice of waiting a few years before we judge how good a draft pick was. When did we ever do that?

Ok. So far DeAndre Baker has basically shown he gives little to no damn about doing the right thing while on NY Giants. If the gun laws In Florida are anything like they are in NC then he shouldn’t have had a gun with him where alcohol was being served and consumed. Shouldn’t have had a gun with him in an establishment where he knew illegal activity was going on. Dumb. Way dumb. Perhaps even illegal. Probably won’t be charged with it. The issue I have is that the defining contribution DeAndre Baker has made to NY Giants since he’s been here has been apparent “laziness” as well as “bad decisions.” If there wasn’t a high ceiling for DeAndre Baker then he probably would’ve been cut already. If DeAndre Baker is given another chance but continues with the patterns of misconduct he’s exhibited so far then what type of message does that send to the team. It’s not about DG hatred it’s about what’s right for the team. One of the best football players on the planet was traded because of an interview, kicking a net, mimicking dog making pee pee and some other immature nonsense. Of course this was done under the auspices of “we got an offer we couldn’t refuse” or some other lame justification but it was clear why ODB was traded. Never should’ve been traded. I will tale each sentence separately. OK Agreed that his effort and attitude has been lax in the past. I also believe he woke up during the season and was getting better during the last 4 /5 games. Everyone here knows it and everyone here was looking forward to him becoming even better under Judge. It's almost Texas here in Florida. I don't think there is anywhere you can't have a gun as long as you have a permit. In fact, I think I may be committing a crime by NOT carrying a gun wherever I go. See first answer. You're right....his high ceiling is EXACTLY why he gets a second chance. The NFL is full of once "sketchy" personalities that have become terrific ball players because their talents overcame their flaws. Still not convinced. Here in Texas some restaurants give you a discount on your food if your weapon isn’t concealed

That isn't what I said at all. You want him off the team before giving him a shot at redemption. IF HE COMMITTED THIS CRIME.... yes. I do. As for the rest of it, I think he has a pathetic work ethic and he needs to figure out if he wants to be the best player he can be or not. He is headed the wrong way. Even this year not showing up for the team meetings with Judge. Not a good look. Sentence one...totally agree. If he did it, he's gone Sentence 2.....reasons why we should cut him anyway

My goodness you’re either clueless or dense. Enjoy that perfect bubble you live in dude It’s obvious you’re clueless because you wanna give another shot to a person that continually makes potentially catastrophic mistakes. There is no risk.....none.... to giving the guy a second chance. He will be on a tight leash and if he ****s up he's gone.

OBJ got traded because he went on a public forum and trashed the team that just made him the highest player in the NFL and NY in general. This was a John Mara decision. Both Gettleman and Shurmur wanted to keep him Prove that DG wanted to keep him? It will take more than just a quote fro DG because he’s a proven liar. Sorry, I don't have a DG quote on this. I have Jay Galzer. Galzer (the guy who predicted the trade) laid it all out when it all went down. I was posting that link like nobody's business when it was all happening and everyone was ready to kill DG over it. You'll have to do your own detective work now.....or just take me at my word. (I have no reason to lie) In essence, both Gettleman and Shurmur had to convince Mara not to trade him before they signed him and then when the shit hit the fan there was no stopping it. Mara said get what you can for him. If you think about it, it makes sense. Usually the simplest answers are the correct ones.

You can look at it that way or look at the fact that once he got called out and admitted he wasn't good with the playbook he started to settle down and had good final 3rd of the season think 6 pretty solid games to close out his rookie year. Or we can hate him and hope his work ethic continues to falter and he busts. Weird rooting for one of your 3 first round picks to fail or better yet lose his life to a prison sentence. Funny when Flowers was going through the same thing I was rooting for him every spring to have found his game and at least be average. No one is doing that. The only way I want him to fail and get cut is if he DID do this. Obviously it would have crossed a line. I do want to see if he can rebound from last year and straighten his crap out though if he didnt do it. I think the odds are he wont magically turn into a passionate SQB type personality though. Most players who start off down the wrong path continue it. And by wrong path, I mean not putting in the work to be the best. That is good to know. He has something on his side talent and now he can make a boat load of money if he can get himself right he seemed to man up last year the 5 or 6 games that is a positive sign I think. Lets see if he gets through this how he comes back I'm sure he will be under a magnifying glass.

Both Gettleman and Shurmur wanted to keep him I don’t think Florida is an open carry anywhere state. Is it? Does DeAndre baker have a conceal carry permit. If so then there are restrictions. Did DeAndre Baker go there with a concealed handgun without having a permit? If so, that’s illegal. What was the reason that DeAndre baker had to bring a gun to a place where people were consuming alcohol while conducting illegal activity? The entire “DeAndre Baker with his new found status is terrified” doesn’t cut it and is only excuse culture. If DeAndre Baker woke up then why was he now going to conduct illegal activity while bringing a gun? Is Deandre Baker is woke then why do that? If the answer is that DeAndre Baker is that stupid then getting cut from the team on that alone makes sense. It's concealed carry and it's pretty much anywhere you want as long as you have the permit. Which I believe I can get at the 7-11 As far as everything I've read, he and his gun were legal. He's a millionaire, so I'm guessing he didn't want to get robbed. We don't know what Baker was doing. He wasn't charged with anything outside of the armed robbery and assault. Trust me, if he was carrying illegally, he would have been charged with that too. No it doesn't. People do dumb shit all the time and don't get thrown off the team. My guess, provided he is innocent, he will get some kind of conduct detrimental punitive action by from the Giants/league.

Clearly you have issues w anybody that doesn’t live up to your lofty expectations. That’s your prerogative but some of the most successful people got a second chance and took advantage of it. So who’s the clueless one?

That's a lot more work for a good WR than it's worth.

Didn’t word that well. My bad. I believe that you have neither the reason to lie nor would you lie about it. I believe that DG would lie about it. Why DeAndre Baker is now involved in is far more detrimental to the team than the interview ODB gave. I gotta disagree... Baker's circumstance will either be dealt with or resolved by the time games start and I doubt Jones or many other of his teammates are losing sleep over it... It's not like it happened in the middle of the season on a gameday morning...

He was a complete zero on the field last year, often lost and giving up on plays. If he doesn't make it to September, it have no effect whatsoever on the team's success this year. That is a non-starter.

If the Giants are all about culture, let's assume the culture thatchy want to imbue throughout the organization is not a culture of stupidity. So, get something for him like they did with Beckham. They robbed the Browns in that deal, I'd be happy to see them do that again to another team.

Did you bring that up to say we should keep him? Listen, you got the DJ pick correct, doesnt mean you are correct in everything. We know this. lol Spinning wheels here. Ill leave 3 more comments on this: #1 - I loved the pick when we took him. #2 - Finding out he lacked a motor, both on the field and in the classroom, is extremely disappointing. #3 - I want him to become what I thought he could, and leave the issues in the past starting right now (as long as he is proven not guilty) and start paying attention and learning and being a good teammate, otherwise he will be gone and rightfully so.

Well, let's see what the facts say. Still: why does one need to carry around a semi automatic weapon when going to a party? Was the gambling at a legal and licensed establishment? Was the gambling just undeclared illegal activity? Even is DeAndre Baker is cleared of the armed robbery charges he is clearly an idiot and clearly associates with low lives. Send the message to the entire team and cut him if he’s cleared. And that message would be that ownership are complete idiots?

And that message would be that ownership are complete idiots? Message would be that player is responsible for his actions, decisions he makes and the company he keeps. It will send message to rest of team that this disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Cut LT? Way, way more disruptive and suspended multiple time.

Cut LT? Way, way more disruptive and suspended multiple time. When was LT arrested and charged with armed robbery while a member of NY Giants? When did LT bring a gun to a party where illegal activity was going on? We can go on. LT transgressions while member of NY Giants were self destructive. The only thing in common is that LT slept during meetings but according to Uncle Bill when he woke LT up LT understood and was able to communicate the game plan, defense and schemes perfectly as well as better than anyone else. Without LT there was no team. Except when he was suspended for cocaine use...that hurt the team. That seems pretty disruptive to the team.

For what it’s worth, Baker posted himself working out today, which has to be one of the first time’s I’ve seen him post something like that since the season ended (obviously not saying he has to post to prove he’s working out)...
Maybe this case may will be a wake up call for him. The case seems to be unraveling each time I check in on it which is good. I’m a believer in his talent and wasn’t down on his mentality or anything, just think he’s young and has some maturing to do, which is more than fair for someone that age. Not everyone is as composed as a Saquon Barkley in your early 20’s... I know from experience lol
I’d love for him to get cleared of all wrongdoing and he comes in with a chip on his shoulder and continues to improve. His second half of the season was much better than the first half and I think a scheme playing more towards his strengths would do wonders for him

Here's what you need to do in order to stay on the team: 1. Do not be arrested and charged with armed robbery while a member of NY Giants 2. Do not get caught bringing a gun to a party where illegal activity is going on 3. Be the best player on the team 4. Be LT. If you've got #3 or #4, don't worry too much about 1 & 2.

Of course nobody brought a gun BUT for the umpteenth time WE don't even know if Baker had a gun hence the reason his lawyer is in possession of his. Like he said he wants the witnesses to be able to describe the gun in the allegations.

That coaches statement doesn't exactly give me great confidence. What do you expect him to say about one of his players?
He's kind of saying, "DeAndre has issues now, but he'll get better."
It's evident the kid is a problem and has no common sense.
I'm hearing the same thing people said about Beckham. "He's just immature. He'll be ok when he grows up."
Well, he never grew up.
Evidence points to the NYG wasting another first round draft pick.
Coaches and teams put up with all kinds of nonsense from players if they are great. LT is an example.
They don't put up with it if the player is mediocre.

This is a man desperately trying to save his job. FTR I think he is innocent of these charges. The whole thing is fishy. I hope he uses this as a learning experience and becomes not only the best NY Giant he can be, but the best man as well.

I think Apple just wasn't good. The worst part I found out was he was skipping meetings. Voluntary or not if he had trouble with the play book he should be taking every chance to learn it. Will be interesting to see how it plays out. As for the playbook? Seems there were a few players last year that had a hard time adjusting to Bettchers system playbook ...whatever you call it,the fact is the kid was coming around in the last 4/5 games, ......... IF HE is CLEARED....... he needs to appreciate the second chance an run with it! I'm not talking about last year, I am talking about him not doing everything he can to learn the playbook THIS year. That needs to change for him to find success. I'm rooting for him.
