So what if Jones is a top 5 qb and his value is 43 million in 3 years You are going to let him walk ? That's a tough pill to swallow, but if he is consistantly top 5, you have to keep him no matter the price. You need a legit QB to be a SB contender (unless you have an elite defense). What they better not do is pay Barkely $20-$25m per if he demands it. If he carries the team they way everyone is expecting then that will be the price but another trophy should be in the case and Jones won't be considered a top 5 QB since Barkley will be carrying the team..

Not really. If Barkley is the best RB in the league the next year or 2, he will get to around $20m per most likely. We could still be a 5-6 win team if the QB struggles or the defense is bad. And Jones can still be a top 5 QB with Barkley being a top RB. If thats the case, our offense should be deadly because teams wont know what to try to stop.

I don't see how this can happen but we can always hope.. The odds are stacked against it from happening, but it could. Especially if we use Barkley like his rookie year out of the backfield catching passes. That helps both players. I need to check to see what QB-RB combos in the league were both top 5s. My initial thoughts are Chiefs with Mahomes and Hill? Maybe Big Ben and Bell? Peyton and Edge? Brady and Blount? Brees and Kamara?

Maybe the closest would be James and Manning. You might also need to go back to Warner and Faulk.

Easy Pay Barkley and Jones If Jones is a top 5 "elite level qb" then in theory he makes anyone on the field around him better(the Brady/Brees/Rogers effect) Pay the linemen and Barkley with Jones...keep drafting weapons every year and have all your outside weapons on rookie deals (considering how quickly these guys are impact players out of the gate as rookies this year) Not taking a reciever this year kinda makes it urgent to take one and asap next draft to get this plan in motion

Hill is a WR Blount was never a top RB Ben and Bell definitely (and they had Brown) Brees and Kamara can be argued Ideally you need an outside guy to complete the "triplet" that is virtually impossible to stop(the old Aikman,Smith,Irvin effect) Ben,Bell and Brown were the closest Kamara,Brees and Thomas are close... Though modern NFL you need something else Let's say Slayton takes the next step and becomes an 80,1200 yard 10 TD guy and such.. Is that good enough to stress a defense to really get out of what they did? The Chiefs used their guys to mind **** teams, especially the 49ers,into overcompensating against the pass and they got gashed against the run in the Super Bowl by a nobody(now they have a legit back in Hellaire...uh on) Getting that 2nd dynamic threat outside to push the defense back and Barkley breaks records every year even behind am average line

Brees and Rogers are proof of this except that horrible call against the Saints should've would've gotten them in.

An absolutely stacked team that just can’t seem to win championships and it’s always someone’s else’s fault. Talk about no accountability. It must be awesome to blow opportunity after opportunity and continue to have people blame the refs for you. It’s a great gig if you can get it.

Brady (2nd contract 3 super bowls ) Eli (2nd contract 1 super bowl) Brees (2nd contract 1 super bowl) Peyton (huge contract in Denver) Flaco (2nd contract 1 super bowl) Wilson ans Mahomes are the only 2 recently to win on a rookie contract since Eli did in 2007 So again what is your solution?

Brady hasn't been top 10 in contract. Peyton might be the only recent player to win it while being paid a lot. Not sure if Eli or Flacco were being paid top 10 money when they went to their SBs. I'm only stating what I heard when there was a discussion about paying Dak and do recall you claiming they would be in cap hell if they signed him. BTW.. My comment was to get there so maybe Goff and possible Garoppolo are two who did when also in the top 10. The solution seems to be win early or have a QB on a team friendly contract..

How often have the Saints easily made the playoffs only to have "something happen" in the playoffs. Yeah, I don't buy the blaming the refs BS at all. That's a loser's lament. Did you see that entire game? Did you see the multiple chances the Saints had to win it and didn't? Hell, if Brees just completes that short pass instead of firing into the receivers shoes that game is over. Blaming the refs is a joke after the fact is so lame, like I said it's always something but it's never them. Muy convenient, lol.

We all have them and they all stink. I definitely am not a buyer of the bullshit the Saints, their coach and FO, their fans and most of the brain dead media have been selling for years to explain why such a talent laden team somehow just always happens to run into some horrible luck in the playoffs. Some teams talk, some teams do. The Saints talk. At some point there ought to be accountability.

I really wish I didn't throw that comment in now and just stuck with the facts that they haven't been back to the SB since paying Brees top money..
