www.northjersey.com/story/sports/nfl/giants/2020/07/10/nate-solder-no-football-2020-if-nfl-doesnt-keep-players-healthy/5417469002/New York Giants offensive tackle Nate Solder sent an ominous warning on social media Friday about the immediate future of the upcoming NFL season. "If the NFL doesn’t do their part to keep players healthy there is no football in 2020," Solder wrote on his verified Twitter account. "It’s that simple." Solder serves as the Giants' NFLPA representative, and the players' union was conducting a conference call Friday afternoon with several significant issues still to be resolved in negotiations with league officials with the start of training camps set for July 28. With the COVID-19 pandemic forcing all parties to come together with the promise of getting the upcoming season off the ground, beginning with training camp and a debate over the preseason, NFLPA present JC Tretter wrote in a recent blog post that the league "is unwilling to prioritize player safety and believes that the virus will bend to football." The NFL has stated since the spring that it still plans on playing (and completing) the 2020 season as scheduled despite issues brought to the forefront due to the pandemic. According to an NFL Network report, members of the NFL Management Council Executive Committee and the NFLPA Executive Committee have a call scheduled Monday to continue working through issues such as testing protocols, report dates, player opt-outs and compensation.

Nate, I think you should sit this season out for your families health and safety.
And Daniel Jones' as well.

My wife tested positive and I'm pretty sure I have it. It sucks. I do not mean to pry, especially with your personal life so forgive me, I was just wondering if you think she may have gotten in at a specific place? Like work or out anywhere. And if those places are taking the right precautions ? I only ask because its hard to know what is working and what is not. If you dont want to answer, I understand and apologize. Praying for you and your wife's health right now.

Thought I posted this here Supposedly the NFLPA is negotiating an Opt out option for people who are high risk or have high risk people close to them.. Soldier is a prime candidate to do this.

My wife tested positive and I'm pretty sure I have it. It sucks. Faaak Be strong both of you If you don't mind can you post what you are going through symptom wise and how bad. Granted every person will react differently (I'm 99% sure I had this mid January in a very mild form as I lost my taste inexplicably for 2 days after being with my girlfriend for 2 weeks and we are both certain she had it because she had every symptom of this albeit mild and her entire family got it )

People forget it's real lives here with this disease. The LT on Tampa (forgot his name) just had a brand new baby he said he might not play this year.
This season is 50-50 at best. Players and owners have serious work in the next 3 weeks if camp is expected to open on time. opt out clauses, then able to opt out later in season if you didn't sign opt out clause originally, guaranteed money, if this is a franchise year for a player and he sits out then what ?, lot more things to sort besides these 3 off the top of my head.
Are teams traveling as far as 1500 to 3000 miles away and playing in other cities and then possibly bringing something home to their families, 9 refs per game coming from all over the USA together and going to a different city each week, They don't ride on team planes they travel with the public.
As much as I would miss football much more than most I completely understand this season being a wash one way or another.

Would it be selfish to hope for no season because it would really help our team immensely with how behind it is with no offseason and a very young coach with a very young team learning entirely new systems with our staff(especially on defense)not knowing what any of these guys can do without having 2 months in spring to get an idea? Think about it A year of virtual classroom work....private personal workouts with position groups (IMO Jones working privately with the recievers for a year learning the system would probably be better than learning during the regular season against defenses that have continuity for years ....the o line could probably get together and work together...) Also gives a year off for a guy like Shepard..maybe he won't be in jeopardy of the next graze to his head being a career killer,Connelly gets a year and a half to be back at full strength) Just trying to see the positive if the season is canceled

Our team this season is going to be so behind what is necessary. Never mind what the league thinks is possible.

“We’ve got to be careful,” Arians told the Tampa Bay Times. “The players, they’re going to all get sick, that’s for sure. It’s just a matter of how sick they get.”

No way this virus is not going to infect most NFL players, just like it's going to eventually infect most people. The question is and has been how sick they get, and who else they infect and how sick THEY get. People are going to keep dying from this for awhile. The only hope is to make sure people don't die because the healthcare system is overwhelmed.

I’ve been part of the old Giants message board for years on Giants.com . Although I did not post a great deal I did reply a few times on famous Jonus Seawright thread. I wasn’t really that vocal but I always counted on diehard Giants fans giving their insight and perspective of.Giant football. We may have ore in common than you think. I’m a huge Warren Zevon fan by the way and went to a few of his concerts in the mid 80s .
