It really is very simple. I don't know why people refuse to be this rational. It's a fair point. But it's really too bad that we have to do that when we just want to watch football. ....You dont HAVE to do that at all

Yea the road getting to the town from 91 up and then down the mountain past the bbq place looked so cool. The main street was very nice and quaint with alot of interesting looking shops and restaurants. They also did alot with the old factory or mill along the river

Professional athletes are good entertainment. I couldn't care less what they think about politics or social issues. They don't earn that with me simply by having athletic talent.

Just my opinion and logic on this, The speculation can fly on why a marketing endeavor is failing. There is only one fact. The consumer is all telling. Sports have been on the decline for a while. Speculation can fly forever on why you are not tagging your demographic in the way that is wanted. It will never change this fact. The exotic car model is a very good example . They are very specific in what customer demographic they are targeting and how keep that customer satisfied with their product. Build a limited amount of cars for a very small segment of the population. Produce those cars with unrelenting standards to cater to the consumer base they are going after. A very simple module that has been effective for the companies that do it. What sports has been doing . It is just not the NFL or just sports.. A lot of companies are moving away from their traditional marketing ideals with the context that it will not change their consumer base or profit margin. If your company is an exotic car manufacture you can keep your production and employee base inline with the limitations you impose with yourself. If your the NFL NBA MLB NASCAR those options that the exotic car manufacture constrains themselves with will work. But there are ramifications for that decision. It will at some point degrade your profit margin because your consumer base will deteriorate unless you are targeting the very wealthy and they are happy with what you are producing. With business it does not matter; What the CEO thinks , What the employees think, What politics thinks, What religion thinks, What social justice advocates think, What orientation you are thinks or What outside influences think. It is only and always will be what the demographic of the segment of the population your product is targeting thinks. There is no social engineering, foot stopping, boycotting of services you provide, is going to change the mind of your costumers. If they do not want or feel your product lacks the value it costs. They will cease to purchase your product. Lets go back to the exotic car manufacturer model. "Produce those cars with unrelenting standards to cater to the consumer base." Now they think They can cut the production cost of the cars they produce to a Civic of a 3 series BMW and still price their cars in the high end demographic. They believe they can maintain their consumer base? In reality they know they can never do that and maintain their viability. That is what some companies are doing. Believing they can maintain viability without changing their entire business model to conform to their new demographic targeting. When you change your product to a formation that is in direct conflict to a segment of their target consumer base. To not indulge will be the option. gellerreport.com/2020/09/nbcs-sunday-night-football-ratings-crash-nearly-30-for-woke-opening-weekend.html/NBC’s Sunday Night Football Ratings Crash Nearly 30% for Woke Opening Weekend These results are disastrous for the NFL. Not just because the numbers themselves are bad, but because of the teams that played on Sunday Night Football. The Dallas Cowboys have possible the largest national fan following in the country, and the Los Angeles Rams play in the second largest media market in the country. In addition, both teams have star talent and are very competitive with playoff aspirations for this season. By all measures, the game should have performed extremely well in the ratings. As I said; The Consumer is all telling.

Where is the "it was something else" commenters on this . I would like to read their take on this. These new ratings have been posted for 2 days now and not a word written to explain why that is .
Is it?
Fans are casual? It was over by the 2nd half? It was against Dancing with the stars? No one gives a damn about those "big" markets? The rating are unreliable? It was against the NBA and NHL?
What is your take on this?

Lol.. the players don't give a damn about the ratings or your miserable opinions about them. You've been complaining for 4 years! They're signing record contracts...
You wanna see ratings drop? Let the players REALLY protest and just not play. Go ahead and try and replace them with some B class players. It's been done before and was a mess...
It's funny that you think YOUR protest is somehow more powerful than their's... lol. Folks will tune back in. There's a few unusual things currently going on in 2020 if you haven't noticed...
You are NOT the majority... do the math or learn the definition...

He was giving you Olivier Vernon's take that if you don't like it, don't come. If I owned the team, I would have fired him on the spot. There's no way I would allow my employee to speak to my customers like that.
In dentistry there's an old saying that goes like this: Ignore your teeth and they'll go away.
Based on this weekend's ratings, it appears the exodus has begun.

If the networks do not receive the revenue to justify the expense of contract . ( it is expensive) Eventually they will have no choice but to renegotiate the contract or get out of it. What you fail to realize is the NFL does not produce a tangible product. There is nothing physical to touch ( a car TV , movie DVD....) They are selling an illusion , an escape for a few hours. If the viewers feel that the escape is not . They will find other means to entertain themselves. The NFL is running an experiment that in the end may fracture their monopoly on pro Football.

You fail to realize that a 5% decline in viewership (yes... those were the ACTUAL numbers) will not cause advertisers to pull out and as I stated the decline is not solely tied to BLM like y'all are assuming... “If you were to look at a basket of rationales or reasons why the ratings are down, I think the social justice movement piece of it is not even within the top five reasons why the NFL ratings are down if it’s even in there,” said Dan Cohen, senior vice president of Octagon’s global media rights consulting division, talking specifically about football. “First and foremost, it’s about cord-cutting. And that is across the board … Number two, is because of the fact that this fragmentation of content is at an all-time high. I mean, the proliferation of new platforms is, there’s over 300 different platforms of video content to subscribe to now to watch in terms of, and that’s just, that’s not linear, those are digital platforms in the U.S. “Eleven times this month, you’re going to have all the major sports on television the same day,” Cohen added. “That’s only happened six times in history.”

I find myself watching less and less sports and television in general. I really try to avoid politics, because I hate it. I only vote in half the elections, not really my thing. This social justice stuff has been a big turn off for me, I don't want to be preached to by 20 something yr old athletes, who probably don't know the whole story about their issues. Hopefully things improve after the election, which ever way it goes.
I have my opinions on issues, but I keep them to myself. I have never posted on social media about my political views on anything, because no one really cares and I do not wish to get into arguments. I am playing a lot more golf now, just joined a local country club, my goal is to be a scratch golfer one day (currently a 8.2). Cancelled my DirecTV account, which I thought I couldn't live without. I had the sports pack, MLB and NFL package. I was paying a lot for basically sports. Now I'm over it, that money is going other places. I still follow the Giants and Yankees if they are on, but not going out of my way.

Now, I never have it on unless the Yanks or Giants are on it. The problem is, when we were kids, sports were a glue yourself to the TV thing. Now? Kids are on their phones on Youtube watching highlights instead. Times have changed. I still enjoy going out to a sports bar to watch some big games though.

Obviously there’s going to be a decline from the “shut up and dribble” crowd.
Just like there would be a decline from the “let the players use their platform” crowd if the NFL tried to ignore that 2020 has been, you know, a thing.
There’s no longer “not taking a stance” option as to avoid alienating anyone. These days the decision of not taking a stance IS taking a stance. Silence seems to equate to support.
Even by saying “you don’t want politics in sports” is bringing your politics to sports.
Funnily enough, I have to imagine their YouTube account is killing their ratings on its own. I hope they get a nice chunk of change from that. I know that’s where I watch most of my football when it isn’t the Giants.
