Obviously there’s going to be a decline from the “shut up and dribble” crowd. Just like there would be a decline from the “let the players use their platform” crowd if the NFL tried to ignore that 2020 has been, you know, a thing. There’s no longer “not taking a stance” option as to avoid alienating anyone. These days the decision of not taking a stance IS taking a stance. Silence seems to equate to support. Even by saying “you don’t want politics in sports” is bringing your politics to sports. Funnily enough, I have to imagine their YouTube account is killing their ratings on its own. I hope they get a nice chunk of change from that. I know that’s where I watch most of my football when it isn’t the Giants. Wow...That's a lot of people reduced to social stereotypes. You even reduced them to little group think type phrases.
I'm thinking you're watching far too much TV.
Maybe I'm being overly romantic but I believe my fellow human beings have a lot more going for them than that.

That isn’t reductive. It’s descriptive. It’s not a reflection of whom they are as, say, a taxpayer or consumer of oxygen - just one aspect that’s revealed in this thread. Sure - people are multifaceted - damn onions, even. But it’s not unreasonable that this particular thread on this particular topic contains some straightforward positions and maybe a touch of schadenfreude towards the ratings decline. But hey, I’ll join your romanticism and not present that assumption as a certainty.

The NBA took another L Wednesday. This time, in the NBA Finals on ABC with the Lakers and LeBron James. Only 7.41 million viewers watched the industry-hyped matchup. Per Sports Media Watch, this is the least-watched Finals opener since … on record. Game 1 is down an unheard of 44% from last year’s matchup, which featured a team from Canada. During last year’s Finals tank-job, media members yelled “one team is from Canada,” and “there is no LeBron.” Ahh, I see. The NBA is taking tanking to never-before-seen depths. If LeBron and the Lakers in the Finals can’t save this collapse — nothing will. This is the best-case scenario. Imagine these numbers when the Nuggets finally win the West and the media has to push that over the NFL. Compared to 2018, the last Finals with LeBron, Game 1 is down 58%. That kind of slide is what gets TV shows canceled and showrunners chased out of the business. www.outkick.com/nba-finals-ratings-tank/?fbclid=IwAR2d7jgBvgf-ZSI7HUpwKs7WaPwgIenG0YXjyLVzK381qS3J9Om49ZDPDe0
