Cavs pick is in......they were rumored to be one of the teams we'd likely trade up with. Good news in my opinion, I hope we stay put. Don't they always find out afterwards in the NBA? Like the original team drafts the rights to a player to be traded. Seems like that happens all the time in the NBA draft. I actually think you're right.

They seem to like Halliburton for the Knicks.
I like Nesmith

The Knicks made themselves an excellent pick. They got themselves a top 5 talent

Here we go! I don't know much about these guys, but it seems like a few folks dropped. Obi seems interesting, but he apparently doesn't play any defense which is not good. There's the kid from FSU, and the two PG's all seem like good prospects. Should be interesting. I wouldn't get caught up on analysts complaining about a lack of defense. The Knicks got themselves an absolute steal.

Any thoughts? The one knock I heard was he doesn't play defense.

he seems like a good kid, and a NY kid coming home. Someone to root for, for sure.

I know some of you got nervous when Woj showed up right after that draft pick was announced. Lol

Ok....who's next?
I posted earlier that I like what I read about the PG from MSU. He's smaller, but he's a great shooter, smart, plays the pick and roll well (which could be nice with Obi), and is tough. He has a lot of the characteristics you look for in a PG.
Any other names to keep an eye on?

Damn it...
Of course Boston takes the guy I really wanted.
Great shooter. Going to light up the score sheet. Could be like another Steph Curry shooter IMO.

Don't worry, Boston isn't winning anything anytime soon. They're not the geniuses the media makes them out to be. So many picks and trades but nothing to show for it.

I can’t believe they didn’t move from 8 and got Toppin That’s awesome. He is essentially a young Amare who still has good knees. Fans are going to love this kid. Him with Barrett and Robinson are some great young pieces. We still don’t have, nor did we draft at 23, a point guard. That’s disappointing. I still wouldn’t mind Westbrook. I doubt it though.

In case you aren’t familiar: He was on sports center almost every night with his spectacular play. Hopefully with the changes being made this offseason, we get a competitive team finally.

I've liked what I've read and heard about Quickley. He doesn't seem to be a true point guard in the sense of being a distributor, but he's a lights out shooter and free throw shooter, a good defender, incredibly quick, etc. As I've said, I don't know a ton about most of these guys, but I'm not pissed or baffled by either pick. As a Knicks fan I'm not used to this feeling, and it's because of this feeling I feel the Knicks just had the best draft of my adulthood.

So who did they get?
Toppin and Quickley?
Seems pretty solid. Toppin should be a great pickup. Already 22 so he will be ready right away.

I actually thought we got a Center too, but we apparently traded him away for a 2nd round pick in 2023.......the NBA draft is so weird to me. What kind of value does a 2nd round pick in 2023 have? Either way, Toppin has been touted as a steal at #8 by nearly everyone but Stephen A. Smith, which makes me like it even more. As Navy is mentioning, it would've been nice to get a PG, but it seemed the ones available were hit or miss.....I think that was the case for most of the lottery players this year. Maybe we get a true PG in free agency?

Do you really want Westbrook? We'd have to give away the farm and would be stuck completely overpaying a 32 year old for the next 3 years. I don't mind Westbrook as a player all things being equal, but this sounds completely counter-intuitive to what we have going on currently.

He would make us instant competitors in the East with our high flying youth.

I'm curious to know how the NY media has been reacting to the draft.
The only issues with the Obi is the apparent lack of defense and the fact we already have Randle. In my opinion, the vast majority of being a good defender comes down to "want to." If you want to be a good defender you will be. It comes down to hear and hustle. He may not be an all-star defender, but he should be competent.
Quickley is said to be a bit of a reach, and isn't a PG. I didn't watch him at Kentucky, so I don't know if he can actually play PG or not, but besides that he's a solid player.
