Well he did ask to be excused and Judge did say yes. If they did not want him to tend to personal issues they could have denied his request. You can't complain he not working out if you excuse him or make practices voluntary. Just my opinion. He was excused for the last mandatory mini-camp practice for personal reasons ... he blew off the OTA’s prior to the mandatory mini-camp. Two different things He made it too rookie camp. Skipped voluntary camps and made it to the mandatory camps. I don't really see the pattern everyone else is seeing. I am not saying my view is right it just I don't think it as bad as everyone makes it out to be. If anything I think Judge did not sell the importance of voluntary camp to Toney very well if his coaching staff is complaining behind his back. Toney made it to more OTAS than some veterans. I will start worrying if he starts missing actual training camp.

I don't follow Duggan so I wasn't aware of his past, but I am aware that Giants Wire enjoys being provocative so I worded the title in the manner I did. I purposely made it known this story was being reported.
Duggan is one of the top guys out there ... this guy doesn’t know how to read
It's no surprise how the Giants would feel about Toney's absence and this was just a heads up to Toney on how things work in NY. The only question is who gave this to Duggan to put out. But it's not like that's very important.

You can't be serious about this and if you are, you mustn't know much about Joe Judge.

whats done is done... get to ****ing work and get your shit together KT I really dont care about the offseason intrigue until and unless someone gets arrested or indicted or hurt for this season. If he tears it up this season no one is going to care. If he melts down everyone will point to these posts as why it happened. For now I'm watching the Mets.

Learn how to read and maybe your perspective will change read what? an opinion about Dan Dugger's opinion of something that happened? Where's the actual reporting? EDIT: no worries, its a relatively cheap subscription I hear Why don’t you read the quote from Duggan that the article relies on and tell me whether it supports the premise of the article. Gotta read beyond the headlines

Never played an instrument. Ironic, my first job as a kid was working at my uncles guitar store. I had ample opportunities to learn for free, and always turned it down. Never to late to pick it up. My youngest son learned from Youtube vids. Go for it! Therapeutic for Monday's after Giant loses. Do you play, Martin? If so, can you imagine what it would have been like to have YT videos back when you were learning?

When was the last time that a Giants first round pick missed OTA’s?

Click bait. I refuse to participate in the NFL media nonsense fest. This is what I hate about the NFL. I wish there was a media blackout on the league until September. Injury reports and transactions only. All this other crap is nonsense high school gossip.
I really don’t care what players are in the dog house. As far as I’m concerned it’s a failure of leadership to let the media get a hold of any information related to player discipline or personal opinions about players. The only thing anyone should know is what Joe Judge tells them to their face.
Once the draft is over I pretty well tune out until the regular season. Honestly I think it’s the way to go.

Gotta read beyond the headlines obviously the source article written by Duggan is blocked behind a pay-wall so I can only go off the quoted section which isnt really a report of anything. Maybe you can enlighten me because quoting someone who is taking guesses at why KT missed practices is not very compelling to me. Unless you consider his "understanding of the situation" compelling, I find his "understanding" of many situations lacking as I have already expressed by my previous posts.

How could Toney have passed Golloday, Shepard or Slayton already? He's had one real practice. And I wouldn't expect this to change much in 2021. Unless someone goes down, he's our 4th WR. A first round pick? He'd better be a lot more than that.
If we open week one with Toney as the 4th WR....then we really have to question that pick.

Who said it?
"The Giants" is a nice way to write in the article "we have no source". Obviously the entire organization would rather him in OTA than not in OTAs. There is a massive difference in "not happy" and "pissed off". Why would they be happy he missed OTAs?
Why would you need a source when yourself just stated “Obviously the entire organization would rather him in OTA than not.” You don’t need a credible source to know the Giants can’t be thrilled with their 1st round rookie only participating in one practice so far. I would like to know who said what. Yes it's obvious a team would prefer 100% of the team showed up, this made it seem like they were mad at Toney. You can see how those two things are not the same right?

Strange you left that out of the OP
Talk of the Giants being surprised by his absence is the story that'll be used for clicks.
I simply put the info here without the drama.
I meant how you left out the part about him making plays, IE the good stuff about Toney lol. More just giving you shit than anything. It was said tongue in cheek.

The Giants were not happy with him. So after reading the report, this part was completely made up by you lol. Neither the article or the quote from Duggan mentions the Giants not being happy. Perplexed was used.
You know how some people around here can take something like "Giants not happy" with him and spin it out of control.

Well he did skip OTAs so I'm not sure he will even make the roster.
Truthfully it depends how they want to use him. Our #1 is set and our slot is set. So what is Toney's role going to be? I look forward to seeing it play out on the field.

The ONLY thing set is Golladay....assuming he's can stay on the field.
If you think our other WR's are "set" then you may have forgotten how bad they were last year.

When you are the new guy on the block it’s not whether you want to or not, not whether you feel like it or not, not even whether you really even need it or not. It’s the fact that you have the willingness to be part of that team. Your willingness to learn. Even if you know all the shit, keep your mouth shut and go through the motions. You are there with everybody else showing them you want to be there with them and for them. Short of life threatening circumstances or the death of a loved one, he should be there….period.

I can agree with that. If he was starting 3rd string I'd be a bit upset. He is a very talented receiver. Not that any of this matters. If everything goes well, he is going to be a different receiver than we have had. He is going to play out of the backfield quite a bit IMO. So we could have trips, Golladay, Slayton, Shep, with Toney running around pre snap and Barkley in the backfield. That's how I see his value anyway. Get the ball in his hands in open space any way possible. In that same report I read, they noted that his skills were noticeable when he got his chance to make some plays. Aha. So he is a football player.

Why do you think Toney blew off OTA’s? Seems like you don’t like objectivity when it comes to your team. Remember when you almost cried when I suggested that Gettleman’s tenure should be evaluated based on wins and losses? Good times

The overreaction and bitching in this thread is hilarious. Keep being the gift that keeps on giving. Agreed This is a typical June NFL story. Something like this, on every team, on some level, happens every year. In a sense it’s sort of like off-season fodder so the worriers and complainers can stay sharp and hone their barbs. There’s plenty of opportunities to freak out from August thru April. Enjoy May - July. The weather is nice and CoVid is almost gone.

some over reaction? Yes of course some under reaction? Yes that too.
Its basically a "WTF" moment and the kid needs to be full go every day from here on out. No BS. No cleat issues. No slipping and sliding enough to get removed from practice. Hopefully no family issues. Keep your personal bling purchases off the ****ing internet. Live, breathe and eat football and out your rap career on hold for at least this season. Get focused and stay focuses.

To me this is were the Veterans come in and make sure the kid has his head on straight. as a fan I am annoyed he seems less "enthused" to be around 24/7 but I am not going to get all bent yet. Just slightly bent...lol The vets can certainly lend advice and leadership by example. Well the some vets anyway. He needs to latch onto the right ones.

They just gotta generate drama to feed the masses so they can keep their billion dollar circus going. Likewise, the sports media has nothing else to talk about in regards to the NFL. And nothing sells like the NFL. I think it replaced baseball a long time ago as America's sport
