I thought Engram was missing practice because of injury? How is this different?
I've heard the Bills have interest in Engram though.

I never understood why some fans were saying we would be lucky to get a 5th round pick. This guy has legit skills. He would definitely draw interest of other teams. I want him here until we have a better option. Right now we do not. Not even close.

He is one of our only guys getting open and catching the ball. he is? wouldn't say i really agree with that... never gave up on him and despite his drops always seeming to come at the worst time, his production is still pretty solid, yes but unless receivers- multiple receivers- are coming back like right now, timing isn't exactly the best, tho... then again if there really is "league-wide" interest in him and a trade nets at least a 2nd rd pick, I doubt I'd hesitate much to make that move. Would have said no way you get that for him but not like I know what the league opinion of him is

He cant block either. A 5th would be a steal. Trade him while there is interest otherwise he will get hurt again and not be able to be traded.

It's time. If this finally forces more opportunities for Smith and Rudolph, I'm all for it.

And it's not like he doesn't try. At some point you might have to just cut bait before he drives everyone bat shit crazy, if not, like, already. Like i said if there is widespread interest in him for real, I can say i wouldn't just accept a 5th for him... call it short-sighted, but he is coming off a good game and always in the back of one's mind you think there's a game where things just might click in and he takes off. But it's been a long ass wait for that

I want him here until we have a better option. Right now we do not. Not even close. A 4th would be a grand slam home run for the guy. Injuries, can't block, can't make contested catches, hands of stone, mental lapses, not a red zone threat. Also, the Giants won't be giving him a second contract, they need to get what they can for him now.

A 5th rounder is better than nothing but I hope they could at least get a 4th...

I could see another team with confidence in their coaching staff thinking they could turn Engram's career around, and get a lot more out of him.

If there is actual interest and a team offers let's say a 3rd or 4th round pick, Gettleman would be a fool not to trade him, either that or Engram has some sort of dirt on the guy. Especially when he's a free agent after this season. I also thought this was an interesting tidbit of information from the article you cited: "Earlier this week, head coach Joe Judge indicated that the Giants may take a “long-term” approach at the trade deadline, suggesting they could opt to be buyers rather than sellers."

Example: a 5th round pick from Bills. Is, like a early 6th round pick.
Plus, Engram will be a FA at years end.

I definitely do not want a 4th. We do not have anyone better and we are unlikely to find a better TE in the 4th round.

He has actually played pretty well in the last few weeks. He is catching 69% of his targets this season. Not great but not bad.

He has 29 targets which is basically as high as anyone other then Shep at 36. He has caught 69% of his targets which is not horrible. He was an asset in both our wins. Look at our other pass catchers on the field last game. We needed Engram. He was targeted 8 times and caught 6 vs the Panthers. He was targeted 6 times and caught 5 vs the Saints.

Do you expect to get a Kittles in the 5th round?

His issue all along is he's a "tweener;" faster than most TEs but too small to shed LBs and SSs when they get their hands on him, but also a bit too big, not fast enough and not a good enough route runner to play at WR. But again I think a team that sees value in his versatility to play "in between" those positions will think they can get a lot more out of him than we have.

I’m fine with it, I just hope Gettleman isn’t around to use that pick next year (assuming it is a pick and not another player).

Bavaro was a mid round pick but not in the 19th round like some baseball players..

I’m trying to think of a team out there dumb enough to do that and the only one that keeps coming to mind is Gettleman and the Giants. Injury history, drops and coming up on a contract year. I don’t see a snow balls chance in hell they get a 2nd for him and even a 3rd would be shocking to me.
