I am happy with the pick. I did not want to see them trade up and lose draft capital for anyone but JD. They obviously didn't feel strong enough about Maye, Penix or JJ (and could have taken JJ outright) to make a move for them. Or maybe in the end, there weren't willing partners-sounds like NE just decided to stay put. This roster has improved significantly (on paper), and there is still the rest of the draft to continue to improve, and still get a QB which I think they will do. I'm glad they didn't reach for Penix ajd JJ-and that is exactly what I think those picks are...reaches. Maybe that turns out to be untrue, but they obviously felt the same way. Let's see what happens in the coming rounds. Penix drafted by the Giants or the Falcons won’t be the same QB. They’re building a QB more than drafting one. I think teams are going to copy their model going forward. The young QB was the last piece, not the 1st.

If they would have picked JJ or Penix at #6 how many people would be saying today that they reached for those players like DJ...more than a few I am sure.

I definitely see the logic (follows the GB-Jordan Love formula) and if he was truly their guy then I give them credit for taking him.

I'm actually a big fan of Chris' takes. He's been right on a few "bizzare" opinions in the past and he doesn't get much credit when those opinions panned out. That said, I get uncomfortable watching him because he always buttons his top button on his shirt. I get verklempt if my shirts tucked in, never mind buttoning the top button. He's a lunatic.

I feel the same as when the Giants drafted OBJ and Barkley. I keep asking about the QB and the team keeps on losing. They tried. They clearly wanted Maye, but we knew that moving up was against the odds. Nabers makes us better, this isn't a disappointing move. You're not wrong though, and a QB isn't off the table.

I wanted a QB but didn't want to reach for one. If the 4th best QB isn't good enough then it better mean JJ isn't worth a 1st round pick. Otherwise, we're in the same situation and maybe even in a worse draft position next year.

Logic is a good thing to have....he's also a decent rapper.
I would've ultimately been fine with JJ. That injury clause scare the bejesus out of me. Penix at #6.....would've been my 2nd least favorite pick ever. DJ still holds that crown.

24’ was always going to be about the play of the o line. QB WR, doesn’t really matter. JS cant keep his job if the o line sucks in 25’, and he can’t keep his job if this picks sucks in 25’. You don’t get to keep your job because you tried to get a QB. Now that the hype is settling and we’re all breathing as fans again, the story of 24’ was always going to be the line and if Daboll can lower his blood pressure managing the game and his staff. If those two things happen this will be a better team. If they don’t we’re looking at another toilet flush in January 26’. I00% think the OL needs to improve big time for all to survive Jones is can be a the bridge to the next QB with protection he could keep the team competitive. I think they got a top 5 talent a guy who would be 1 or 2 in most drafts thats the kind of talent he needs to procure our WR room is a bit scary right now. Joe needs to keep chipping away at position groups think WR is set they need to get the DB room up to the WR room more premium guys CBs and OL need to be strengths.

Penix is big picture, imo. And look around the league how many starting QBs went down last year. 17 games is a very long season. Yes, imo it was a little odd the Falcons went QB yet he’s not for this year imo unless an injury to Cousins.

I tend to agree.....I'm probably on the extreme, but WRs are overvalued. They're great to have in a short window, but after about 2-3 years damn near every single one demands a huge contract and/or complains about the QB. Love the pick, think Nabers will be great, but my expectations aren't long term.

They have two great receiving targets, they can run the ball. He can sit for more than a year if they can have some success with Cousins. They’re building him. I think it’s going to really turn out well for them. Watch that team this year and next.

Don't disagree. The idea that the "4th best QB" isn't worth a top-5 pick is preposterous if that 4th best QB becomes a franchise QB.

He has that intense stare also. Scary! I do like his take on some things though. Mike Florio is nuts most of the time.

I think in the end, decision of the GM and coach to stick with DJ and not draft a potential franchise QB like Mccarthy just signed their check out of here at the end of this season. They have no back up plan this year. Its DJ or bust. Nabers might be spectacular, i dont doubt he is special. But to say he will be the offense is a joke. We just lost SB. Its going to be entirely on DJ. Did we not just see backups run a better offense last year. Whats the point. Its a broken record. I stand by whoever is Qb on sunday. The offense will improve with Nabers. But what from 2 tds to 10 or 12 TDs , how is that better. DJ could get hurt again, then what. Thanks Gmen for keeping our sunken ship where its at for another year. Another regime change in the oven baking. The fans, and the media wont let this slide if we have another down year.

If the Pats conviction on Maye was strong (clearly it was), why on earth would they ever trade down?
If our Penix or McCarthy conviction was close to as strong as Maye they would have drafted one of them.
I said in another thread, if you didn't like the "reach" for Jones in 19, you should love this.

In a 4-3, heck yeah in Round 2. In this 3-4 base i think a Jenkins has a better motor. Not sure Lawrence has the motor to move down the line and chase all game with Sweat inside.. I do like Sweat a lot though.
