By the way I meant no disrespect. I am a CEO for many years and its so hard watch the Giants anymore knowing there system is so flawed. I still watch though but without major system changes this team cannot change in the way fans want them to change. It will be a band aide approach which will account for nothing. So when we talk 3 -4 4-3 hybrid D and OC and DC and GM and all the x's and o's it doesn't mean anything will have a big effect long term for the future. Their system must change if they want success. Very very well said. Here’s the point where I’ll get excited: The ownership announces that they’re separating the roles of president and CEO (even better if they had an actual BOD so the family’s can be limited to those roles, , but I don’t think they do). The President will report to Mara once a quarter and will have unfettered control of who’s on his executive team and all of football operations. All executive members and any individuals with ties to the Maras and Tisches will have to reapply for their jobs. THAT will get me excited. Until then, it’s just “B” leadership that hires “C” talent. If you want A leadership, you need A ownership or at least ownership that acknowledges they’re part of the problem. I’d be willing to watch them suck another 3 years of this was the level of change. Until Fredo is named president

The mob wanted McAdoo and Reese fired. Eli did nothing but regress in Ben's system.
Was there anyone who took pleasure in Eli getting the shit kicked out of him or killing plays under phantom pressure in McAdoo's offense other than Harooni? If anything, I'm sure most of us preferred to see Geno get the shit kicked out of him.
The Giants head coach is the guy who determines who plays and sits. I'm sure Spags felt the team needed to settle down, and Eli was best player to make that happen.
And of course that is the goal for every football team....Settling down.
Of course the goal of every team should be to win football games.
The fact is that the fans in 2017 wanted Eli. They didn't want Davis Webb or Geno Smith.
But either way, this organization is far too much consumed with the past and continuity. Well continuity is a wonderful thing when you're winning. Yes....let's continue to win. Unfortunately, continuity when you're losing is toxic. It's a constant attempt to put Humpty Dumpty back up on his wall.
We are STILL doing that. We are looking at the formula from the past and trying to remake it. So we brought in a GM from that past to make it happen. All while the rest of the league is adapting to the new NFL.
We have to agree to disagree on what went down in 2017. You believe it was about Eli while I believe it was about McAdoo and Geno to a lesser extent.
I also think you're a bit off base on Gettleman. Gettleman was scout on the Bills and the Broncos that came to the Giants from Accorsi. Once in Carolina, he adopted their systems/philosophy's and he brought that back upon his return. Of course we also have Chris Mara in the mix, but no one truly knows his true impact on this team. He could be against many of the things Gettleman is for, but as this team continues it's losing ways, most of us like to believe he is a source of the team's problems. I've always believed he's the primary source of leaks out of the Giant's headquarters.

The leaks started around 2013/14 ish I remember all of a sudden a week before the draft Odell to NY got red hot,so much so that the Eagles were desperately trying to trade to get ahead of us . And the leaks have continued post Reese/Ross (the entire league knew we were taking Jones, ect)

You guys need to check out how the contracts of the three big free agents signings are built.
The combined base salary of Adore Jackson, Kenny Golladay and Leonard Williams in 2021 in just $6MM. That's TOTAL between the three. A HUGE amount of guaranteed money goes against the cap in the next two years. Our cap hit for JUST those three players next year is almost $70MM. We had no cap room in 2021 so he had to do this. That is just in 2022. Dave mortgaged our future for 2021. He went on a spending spree this off season to try to buy his way out of this disaster and it's going to hurt our ability to rebuild this team.
This isn't just a 2021 problem. We will be paying for this disaster in the future as well. So those players CAN'T be cut and they CAN'T be traded.

I think it was true he wanted Mahomes I just don't think it would have been good for Mahomes, as talented as he is, Pressure is pressure he might not been afforded a learning year and a he surely would not have enjoyed the fine offensive line play and elite weaponry the chiefs already had in place, remember Alex Smith had them winning 11 or more games a year, I just think the Giants were a bad fit for any young QB at that time and even for Jones. He had a moment of decent OL play and he looked good. when you look at it this OL this year might be the best unit when healthy since mid 2012 first legit LT anyway and Hernandez is actually pretty good on the right side to bad it took to Jones 3rd year, these are unforgivable sins by the GM. Mahomes definitely went to a great situation. As did a Tom Brady and Lamar Jackson and Russell Wilson. Murray went to a risky situation though, and it appears to be working out great for him. It really helps with development. No question Jones has an uphill battle in that department. I dont think our team was in the right situation to go QB in 2019. And certainly screwed up going RB in 2018. The team is being built backwards and in reverse order. When you think about let this sink in Andrew Thomas Looks as advertised when healthy now he is the best LT this team and had since Dave Diehl in his prime not the 2013 version on his last legs. This is why we are where were at and probably Jones is where he is at it should have been OL OL And OL along with Edge and Edge and Edge LOL, This team has been suitable for a young QB all of the first 4 games of this year, Agree I thought he was gonna build from the inside out.

It's funny how the team goes from Joe Judge's when things are pointing up, back to Dave and John Mara when things are bad. But don't get me wrong, this is not meant as an endorsement of anyone.
I have no idea what to make of this team any longer, but I do know this. The problem with the NY Giants goes well beyond Dave Gettleman. Who among you have a shred of confidence in John Mara and Steve Tisch to pick a successor, and why should we? A new GM should be allowed to assemble his own front office and coaching staff, but does anyone expect that to happen here?
For a team many consider old school, the Giants have ignored the most fundamental aspect to this game. Winning begins in the trenches.
Rosie the PFF grades came today to your point, the OL can no longer sustain any more losses only player to grade positively is Will Hernandez we had 3 guys single digit grades or 0. Our edge guys 0 pressures yes Stafford had some pressure from Williams or Lawrence or a blitzing DB fromm time to time, They can not win games with a shell of the roster on offense and little to no pass rush on defense. Change is needed don't who or how they will fix this mess staying healthy would be a great start and drafting legit edge defenders What’s pathetic is that Hernandez is below average on most teams but is considered one of the better players on this O line because the others suck so bad. If DG has another year, you can rest assured that he will resign Hernandez which is a horrible idea.

I'm not a cap person but those 2 out of three were 3 years deals and from what I have read the Giants were supposed to be in good shape after 2022 now I don't know in the restrures of Bradberry has to do with it but he marines and Ryan are coming off the books after next year and Leo a year later. I don't care DG should go but I don't believe that cap hell is gonna be like the three years that we just dug out from at least thats not what the cap people say. 2022 tight back in business 2023. They were given credit for structuring contract not to wreck the cap.

Now DG is doing the exact same thing and when he was doing it, he had his supporters, look at how that turned out. DG will be haunting this team long after he’s gone. What’s the most depressing thing to me is I’m not even looking forward to next season, nor probably the season after that. There will be the usual off season buzz after the draft of how much better we are in paper but this team has too many problems to fix in one off season, probably two. The way the cowboys are built, they’ll be damn good for the foreseeable future so I’ll give them the division for the next few years and I doubt we’ll be good enough to get a wild card, with or without injuries (which will be another off season excuse of why we’ll be so much better next year). I wish I could just fast forward 2-3 years instead of trying to ignore the Giants or continuing to watch this circus train wreck.

FYI, there’s a 6th round rookie by the name of Trey Smith playing for the KC Chiefs that we could have had who is blowing Hernandez out of the water AS A ROOKIE but DG didn’t want to take a flyer on him because of medical issues from his sophomore year that hadn’t been an issue since. Seriously, I like Will too but I have no idea why some of you feel so compelled to defend his below average play. He is in the bottom 3rd of the league in PFF ratings (I know they only apply to Thomas when he does good and when the scores match what the homers want to see). Erek Flowers is graded significantly higher for crying out loud. Que the “well every other team passed on Trey Smith too” so somehow that makes it ok and every other team was in our same position with a regressing veteran guard on one side and one of the worst guards in the league on the other (before he got hurt).

In a nutshell......We are a team that has seen the league pass us by.
In 2017, John Mara, the owner OF THE PAST....Hired Dave Gettleman...The GM OF THE PAST.
Dave was determined to reinstate our QB OF THE PAST. He was committed to his philosophy OF THE PAST. He drafted the QB who reminded him of our QB FROM THE PAST.
So here we are, a team of the past with a record from the deepest recesses of our past....Those glorious years of the 70's where we weren't just bad. We were an embarrassment. We were a laughing stock. The words "New York Giants" were synonymous with losing. We are close to that now.
The league has changed more in the last 10 years than any time since they created the forward pass, yet we are standing still. These young coaches, combined with the profound rules changes have created a new game. And John Mara needs to step aside and allow the Giants join the 21st century.
The fixes needed here are profound. This may be a long slog. At least we have 4 SB championships to remember, but they are getting smaller and smaller in our collective rear view mirror.
i dont remember any of those 4 SB championships

My take is the Giants put their trust in the GM's philosophies to a fault.
How else do you explain John Mara allowing what happened to our Oline under Reese/Coughlin/McAdoo and now Gettleman/Shumur/Judge?
Let's be honest. The line fell apart under Coughlin. And it hasn't been fixed since. But we cannot get on Gettleman for the line being decimated with injuries now can we?
What QB will play well behind a line like ours?
The defense has been torched for two straight weeks. Williams, Lawrence, Jackson, Peppers, McKinney, Ryan and Bradberry are all perfectly healthy.
They can't cover me. One of the problems came this last off season. Dave had to scramble to overpay free agents. He gave two guys, Golladay and Jackson, who had played a combined 8 games in 2020, huge deals. And the guaranteed money had to be back loaded because we didn't have the cap space.....so the cap hits for those two, plus Williams is going to cripple us starting next year. We mortgaged our future to be all in for 2021. But here we are....at 1-5.
Well.imagine the uproar if he signed neither?? Golladay is a great receiver. Jackson was formally a very good corner. What changed?? Almost every GM over pays.

Oh and BTW.......This entire philosophy was endorsed by the fans in 2017. The mob protested the benching of Eli and they all might as well have been screaming "GIVE US THE PAST". One wonders if John Mara feels he's simply giving the fans what they asked for. [br Again this is where you go off the tracks badly The mob wasn't protesting the benching..we were led to believe it would be to give Webb a look in a dead season The mob brought out the pitchforks and torches when it was found out that it was for Geno Smith, which accomplished exactly what we thought it would. THAT was the issue... Morehead seems to project his own perceptions onto others lol. Makes straw man arguments by telling you what you think lol. Many of us were interested to see Davis Webb play. People just thought the jury was out on Geno Smith

Ereck Flowers is a massive failure a former top 10 tackle playing guard at an average level in year 7 on his 5th team. Hernandez is plenty serviceable and never refused to play.

We will be paying for this disaster in the future as well. So those players CAN'T be cut and they CAN'T be traded. I remember getting absolutely roasted for calling out Reese for doing the same thing, spending spree of $200 million to save his job. Let me tell you the difference.
1. We WON in 2016. 2. Those three guys (JJ, Vernon and Snacks) were all 26 or younger and at a point where they were approaching their prime. They were sighned to play out their contracts. 3. Those were not backloaded deals with guaranteed money.

Well since you brought up PFF…according to them he’s not and he got man handled yesterday. He was graded a 67 I believe for yesterday maybe I saw the wrong Column but he has been grading average to above and 67. Ereck Flowers is a massive failure a former top 10 tackle playing guard at an average level in year 7 on his 5th team. Hernandez is plenty serviceable and never refused to play. His overall grade for 2021 is 60. Flowers was a failure from draft and LT perspective but not at guard. Hernandez was a top 2nd round pick who is playing worse than rookies and guys drafted much lower than him. Hernandez is sub par. I mean I guess slightly below average on this line is plenty serviceable so that part I can’t argue with.

People just thought the jury was out on Geno Smith I have no idea what every person thinks. But how about a little deductive reasoning.
1. McAdoo benched Eli for Geno. 2. The mob was mobilized and spoke. 3. JR and McAdoo were immediately fired. 4. Eli was reinstated. 5. The mob receded.
I'm sure all you fine folks "meant" to continue your protests until Davis Webb was installed as QB......I guess you forgot.

That’s true, we did win one year with them and at least they delivered for a couple years. DG paid big money to 3 guys with pretty significant injury history IMO who have yet to deliver to near their contracts.

McAdoo wanted a mobile QB to run his scheme. THAT is why he started Geno.
And when JR and McAdoo were fired did they install Davis Webb as the starter?
No. They gave the mob what they wanted.
Webb is a mobile qb That is who everyone wanted to see start .. The entire world knew ane knows what Geno is (a decent back up ) They probably last till the end of the season (Mac and Jerry)if they started Webb.. Well then why did the protests suddenly stop when they got fired? If they truly wanted Webb, why were they completely content that he never saw the field?
