In many ways this looked very much like a Giants of the past few years, lousy offense and uninspired defense. Trubisky's throws make Billy Kilmer's passes look like lasers.
Thankfully for the Bears, they didn't need to rely on that since they could just run through the Giants without much trouble. Their overall ineptitude kept things close which was beneficial but in the end the Giants shot themselves in the foot far more effectively than did the Bears.
I did like the fight in the team, staying in the game and making plays at critical points. But those plays wouldn't have been so dire had the Giants been able to do anything offensively or defensively. Lastly, being in a game until the last play is certainly better than not, but a loss is a loss (of course of course).
Giants Offense: D-
Please. My notes for the first 6 offensive possessions simply say "crap". The typical Giants catch up fell short as they usually do and there really wasn't a whole lot of positives to take from the game. Making some plays when it really counted is the difference between a F and a D minus.
Giants Defense: D
It must have been an absolutely brutal flight to Chicago because the Giants defense was gassed immediately. First drive. Maybe they should be checked for narcolepsy.
Certainly the crappy offense was absolutely no help as the game progressed but in the first half the defense didn't really start to engage until half way through the first half. The Bears offense is not exactly lighting it up and that helped the Giants' D, as did the dropped TD on the Bears second drive. Trubisky seems to only be able to complete passes to WRs that are wide open, the Giants were happy to accommodate him...which was nice of them. On positive notes, they were tough on inside runs and did stiffen in big spots forcing the FG which missed and gave them the opportunity to win with their final drive.
Special Teams: C+
Decent coverage offensively and defensively; nothing significant of note.
Coaching: C -
Kept the team fighting throughout and they were in it until the last play, so that's a positive. Was unable to mount anything meaningful on either offensive or defensive. There is still significant work to be done with this team.
Game Ball:
I'm not a fan of moral victories, only real ones, so no participation trophies will be given. I didn't see any game ball worthy performances on that field today.
GAME TIME
Last week I could pick many positive things on all sides of the ball. This week I see almost zero positive. They did have a chance at the end but they should have never been in that position.
All facets of the offense and defense, every coach to every player, gets a resounding F..!!!! The game plan, the play calling, the execution and the lack of anything to change things up. Absolutely terrible. Jones, while I do really like kid is keeping his rep as a bonafide turnover machine. He is a problem in that regard. Otherwise the offense was boring and uninspired. WHEN THE HELL ARE THEY GOING TO MOVE JONES IN THE POCKET. ROLL OUTS ETC. On D..... The tackling sucked. The coverage sucked. Very little pressure.
STs were ok so I don't want to slight them.
No game ball as no one remotely deserves it.
MOREHEAD STATE
Good effort by an out-manned team. But of course, all our "good efforts" seem to end in losses. Frustrating. And of course the loss of Saquan is a killer.
OFFENSE: C-
Looked bad before Saquan got hurt. Were more impressive in the 2nd half. Good effort. But 13 points is still a below average performance.
DEFENSE: B-
I have to give it to them in the 2nd half on defense. Made plays when they had to. But they lookd bad in the first half and that was where the game was lost. In the 2nd half they were surrendering huge chunks on the ground though which really hurt us. It shortened the game for the Bears and probably cost us the win. Had a couple sacks, which is nice but as I said, the game was really lost in the first half.
ST's. B Saw no huge errors except the failure to down the ball deep. Other than that it was OK.
COACHING: B+ Figured out how to move the ball after Saquan's injury. Kept the team in it and playing hard. I like this coaching staff.
GAME BALL: I'm giving it to Danny Dimes because he did hang in there against a good defense and got us back in the game. If we had 30 more seconds I believe we would have won that game..
This is a devastating loss for us. Our schedule has us looking at 0-5 or 1-4. We needed this game. I hope this staff can keep this team in this season.

The coaches adjusted the Offense to play better after the half. I am not a fan of Graham's Defensive schema stacking the field with DB on running downs . That makes no sense at all.

The best observation was "when are they going to move DJ out of the pocket." I don't get this either. Garrett continually rolled Romo and Dak out of the pocket. As for the defense, it was gashed early. Picked apart. 17 points early. Then 0 the rest of the game which was nice. I expect a W giving up 17. They got 2 picks in the 2nd half.

You cannot evaluate talent and what they are capable of doing by holding Skype or Zoom sessions.

Dallas offense got so much better when he lost play call duties.

I saw some of the game but not closely enough to grade it, but what I saw aligns closest to Game Time's review.
The positive aspects which I saw in game 1 were not there today.
Jones was not sharp. The constant runs into the box with the run game early on took me back to years past. And Graham's defensive calls left me scratching my head as well.
I take nothing positive from this game except maybe the improved performance by Evan Engram.

One of the loosing aspect the past few years was getting crushed in the first half and adjusting in the second. It was impressive with both the o and d in the second half, but WTF about the first half? I don't want to believe a totally new coaching staff can have the same tendencies, but it is like dejavu all over again.

When I grade the game each unit starts at C. They earn their way up or down from there. The first two drives were walk throughs for the Bears. They easily could have and frankly should have been up 14-0. The defense stiffened on the third series and then played ok. They chose the series after the Giants TD (again!) to revert. It seemed to me that the Bears were doing the Giants a favor by trying to use the passing game with that QB.

Play calling is part of the coaching grade, I treated this like a game grade and based it solely on what I saw in this game. I also didn't give credit for effort or relativism. That doesn't mean I don't think the coaching is better this year, that just wasn't part of this game's review.

They will be a good team by the end of this season.

Offense gets an "S" as in it sucks 3 years of building and this?
Defense held in there got gassed and came back to make the stop and the O could do nothing blocking, running or receiving it all did not get the job done again and this was the game Giants could win.
Going into game three and already all I can do is root for individual players now this team sucks and I am even sure on DJ now ever since I saw somebody post today he is "Eli Lite" it now has me wondering are were going to stay with him? Right now I am not so sure another QB bust for the Giants?

There’s a lot of fight in this team. That reflects well on the coaches I’m assuming the changes made at halftime gave them a chance. That reflects well on the coaches. They will be a good team by the end of this season. And they will win this Sunday. Ros...That was a mediocre team that played poorly who we lost to.

Don’t really understand the poor Defense grades. Only gave up 17 points (3 of which were off a Jones turnover) and pitched a shutout in the second half. And some big plays as well...the Bradberry pick was special

Defense showed up and played quite well, while the offense is pitiful.
