I have not read anyone on the board not agree with that. It is year 3. Time to start taking the kid gloves off. For sure, I think we’re all on the same page but I don’t care if the O line is still bad or if they want to blame it on Garrett, there are several areas of improvement he can show even with a bad O line or lackluster play calling. Next year we’ll most likely be in the best position to draft a QB than we will be for years to come. If Jones doesn’t shine brightly, next year will be the year to pull the trigger on a new QB and not kick the can down the road while we wait another year to see what we have. Unfortunately, even if Jones is mediocre this year, I have a feeling DG will die on the Jones hill and not draft a new QB next year (assuming he’s still here). I hope we do not have to draft a QB. I still have my hope DJ lives up to his draft position.

Some people (not you) seem to think that because some of us didn’t like the pick that means we don’t like DJ and/or are because we don’t like DG that means we don’t like DJ and/or because we’re critical of DJ then we don’t like DJ. I hated the pick, I don’t like DG, and I’m critical of DJ but I hope nothing but the best for him because that would be what’s best for the Giants. Plus he does seem like a genuinely good guy and easy to cheer for personality wise, unlike Odiva. I would love nothing more to eat a crow buffet and have DG and DJ prove me wrong but until then I’ll remain critical because I haven’t seen anything to make me think otherwise. Like you, I have hope because the situation is drastically different this year (for the better) for DJ than it has ever been in his career. On the other hand, there are several areas he needs to clean up that are independent of the O line, WR’s and play calling. On that front, I’m less optimistic. As I said, he needs to be good to very good, not just a game manager for me to want the Giants to keep him and for me to think he was worth the pick. Hopefully it all comes together for him this year.

Kind of like Dak did in Dallas his first year he was reading half field and growing with Elliot and the young OL. He just had the protection and weapons to make it a little easier he would sit back and have breakfast before he got rid of the ball lol. Thats how the Giants beat him twice that first year little pressure take away the security blankets and it worked not so easy now that he is seasoned still hold s sometimes tho. I would hate to see him struggle also Aris Think there is enough there to have a good tough QB. He still has Eli to call who had protections and blitz recognition down by year 2 that was his biggest strength. One small correction, Daks O line was not young in 2016. They were all solid vets and arguably the best O line in the league that year. He had the perfect set up to succeed from day 1 whereas Jones was set up for failure starting day 1. Having said that, I’m far from sold on Jones and am done hearing the excuses this year. He better play like the 6th overall draft pick he was, not just be serviceable. They were young vets 2 to 4 years correct now they are getting old losing Fredricks to that auto immune disease really hurt.

There are no excuses he has good talent around him even if Barkely is not 100%. I see it as there were reasons to be hopefully also reasons for worries. Now that he has weapons and hopefully an improved OL he will have to grow or he will go probably after next year if he doesn't step it up. there is no more wondering how he would be with solid weapons and a decent OL.

That said the first 30 minutes after the pick I was not happy, I did watch a lot of Duke that year because here in Florida we got a lot of there games for what ever reason. During that time I was like this kid has nothing around him and he hits guys that are covered with perfect balls a lot, he was tough as Nails throwing in the face immense pressure and taking several huge hits a game our own Dexter Lawrence crushed in their match up he got up and kept hitting WRs in the hands and watched them drop several so I started to warm up to him as our QB.

Gettlemen the guy who drafted him said as much when he said it straight up DJ needs to step it up, like him or not DG doesn't play games with the franchise, if DJ doesn't get going he is gonna get going out of town. Hopefully he has a good season and takes off with all the added talent might take a QT for them all to get used to each other and even longer to get all of them incorporated into the scheme but when it's done they better have some offensive fire works or they will be using that new found draft capital to get up to the top for a QB. Last thing I want to see I like Jones as a person and like his toughness think he has what it takes but now he can prove it he has every type of pass catcher a QB can have big striders power forward types guys who can get open in phone booth speed and twitchy types it's now or never.

Giants never make it easy even when it should be this franchise has had some really long winters lol, that being said when they come out of it they give us some stretches of really good and fun championship football more then most fanbases get. Guess we have toke those nasty Winters for the reward of 5SB appearances and 4 SB trophy's, lets hope a Giants spring and thaw is here.

Its very simple.....Jones' main flaw is lack of pocket awareness. Tough to fix but if/when he does he has all the other tools needed to be a successful QB in the NFL. Hugely associated with that is the OL and the receivers doing their jobs much better. They have as much to prove as Jones does. Also semi-critical factor is a back who knows what they are doing on passing downs to pick up a blitzes.
Garrett has to get creative too.
Its his 3rd season and that is no secret its now or never to become the franchise QB he was drafted to be.

I just worry that if things improve but not as much as they would like they give up on him, I think the talent is there it's a matter of just getting him in the same system with the same " Young " weapons and OL hopefully thats the case. he through for 24 TDs as a rookie in 13 games he has something it is up to Garret and the Giants staff to get that out of him constantly.

Why would you guys want to watch that shit again?
He turns the ball over way too much and if that doesn't stop this year we can say goodbye to him and the ass that selected him..

Why Daniel Jones Constantly Turns The Ball Over?
He had big shoes to fill when you look at his predecessor.

So you're looking at Jones as a way to get rid of DG? I think Getty should've been gone 2 years ago when they went with a new coach. Many fans out here have been claiming if Jones tanks that means Getty has to go so I went with that thinking process when I responded. Is this good with you?

He has turned the ball over at an alarming rate and it's been infuriating and is something I am concerned about. That said, he's a young QB, who's played in two different offenses in his two different years in the NFL. He's played with lackluster playmakers in particular wide receivers and played behind some poor oline play. Turnovers and growing pains are expected. There are plenty of good things he's done as well, it hasen't been all bad the kid has potential. What matters is this season, if its more of the same even with all of these upgrades another year in the nfl another year in garretts systems, then we have a problem. I do think he's going to take the next step, the weapons if they they all stay healthy are enough to make any young QB really make that leap we need to see Daniel make. .I pretty much agree here He needs to be a huge part in a dynamic explosive offense and not the one holding it back ...and this means making him a game manager by the end of the year. Last year was going to be a struggle no matter what It's do or be replaced time as teams don't have the luxury of waiting 5 years to develop a qb anymore unfortunately With the Giants securing a second 1st round pick next year, if he does fail this season, they will be in a good position to draft a new QB. And put him in an offense with some play makers ready to help that young QB.

simple Red... if Jones doesnt pan out DG is gone. I think he 's gone anyway. I said it before DG retires after this season between age and heath he leaves. Doesn't matter how Jones plays .JMO. If Jone plays well DG is using that draft capital to continue building sustainable winning future fro this franchise if Jones fails he will have to hand in his key card. He wants to keep working he likes it and loves being a Giant.

In the end Jones has all the traits a QB needs but now it is time to get down to nitty gritty for him. He needs to lead this team and clean up his game he has the accuracy and arm is an above average athlete great work ethic also these are all mandatory traits for success. Now we need to the mental processing the things from the neck up is what is gonna make or break his career as a starter thesis are also mandatory to be a frannchise QB.

Pretty much what we already know DJ needs to cut down the turnovers, complete passes to his talented receivers and hope the OL has improved as much as the coaches think it has I also believe DJ knows the situation and he will handle the pressure to perform in a positive way and do enough to have a winning season If not, then with two first round draft picks, the Giants will be getting a new QB it could be that was the reason for making the deal for a 1st round pick so we could be in position to bring in DJs replacement...

I am not comparing Jones to Josh Allen but where the comparison starts is they both work extremely hard on their games where else it is evident, the Bills built him a good OL and gave him some of the better weapons in football Beasly is one of the best 3rd down targets around and Diggs is top 3 WR solid TEs and RBs and the defense was already good. The Giants took their time being in todays NFL you need to know by year 3 what you have because of salary cap structure, it is year 3 and Jones will finally be in the same offense for 2 years but he will be playing with many of his play makers for the first time. What I'm saying here is Allen became a better QB yes but the Bills became an even better football team. I can see if the Giants work in the offseason works out Jones having a good year 3, we have to remember some of the QBs taken a year before him Allen and Mayfield for sure have been surounded by better weapons / OLs and solid defenses. Mayfield had the same things happen to him as far as having stability so Jones can overcome it just takes a little longer. Allen has been in a QB incubator lol same system adding talent for 4 years now, Hopefully we get to see the best of Jones if we don't someone else might. agreed, Jones will definitely be under a powerful microscope this season with no more excuses...

some people never pass an opportunity to take a cheap shot at Gettleman who in my opinion couldn't have done a better job both in the draft and free agency this year, step back and give the guy a break and remember he inherited a shit show and has done more for this team than the previous GM ever did...
