I don't think Rudy has very much left at all. He could help in blocking but I fear he won't hold up for remainder of the season. I do think he can be effective around the goal line. Smith I don't see any advantage in playing him over EE at all. EE imo is our best option at TE by a wide margin. You missed the memo. All Giants fans are supposed to hate Evan Engram. He's the singular cause of all the Giants woes since 2012.
I think he was behind the grassy knoll as well.
Agreed. And at the risk of getting hammered on this board, he has played well this season with the exception of one play. One of the games he made some great catches. If used properly, he can contribute in a big way. He’s never going to be Whitten. Just like Barkley is never going to be effective constantly running between the tackles like he’s Derrick Henry. It’s probably the biggest problem with their offense - coaches trying to fit square pegs into round holes - especially in the red zone.

There are things he does well at times. Just not nearly often enough. And not at the crucial times when we need him to do them…. The original question still stands...... Is there anything that Evan Engram does well?....there's been a few responses yet no one has given an actual answer or named at least one thing. It's really easy for every other player on the roster......just name one thing they do well......Shep? Makes contested catches.....Saquon? Ability to catch passes out of the backfield......Jones? Best hands on the team......I honestly can't think of ONE thing EE does well.

if Engram was behind the grassy knoll he would probably have missed his target.

He is practicing today, so I don't think he is going anywhere right now. I think your right Nick, it seems it was a calf injury. EE and Shep limited practice today. I don't believe EE is going anywhere this season either.

Me too! It's not that I don't like the guy but he is not a complete TE and the Giants need that because the Oline is still not there. A blocking TE is important for the Giants IMHO. I prefer one or 2 guys that can block and let the WRs be the dynamic playmakers that force teams to have to defend every blade of grass Why is Tampa so lethal and balanced Multiple dynamic playmakers that force defenses to defend every blade of grass.. A 12 formation with 2 traditional TEs that block well and move the chains in a lot of open space created by said playmakers.. And can smash a team to oblivion in the running game because now they have 7 guys that can block up front against a thinned out defense because of their said 2 playmakers... They litterally can play any style of offense and beat you and change up when needed Smith and a gut like Ruckert next year in the 3rd...if Golladay can stay healthy along with Toney.... This is potentially close(as long as the line isn't total shit inside We have talked about this before and the Giants front office have not been listening. What do you expect, these guys are lame dinosaur mentality when it comes to a modern NFL offense. Why is it so hard far them to understand that if the safety's have to defend the goal post it opens up the entire field. As you mentioned it opens up the entire offense. Years ago the middle linebacker position was very critical due to the rules but today the passing offense has made the critical side of the D the safety's and pass rush. 2 TE's all the way!! A foundation that you can play call off of and move to other formations that keep the D off balance. Everything you said about Tampa is true! As Giant fans it seems we were born to suffer!!

Fun fact.... Evan Engram is 4th all time in receiving yards for TE's in Giants history. Only Bob Tucker, Jeremy Shockey and Mark Bavaro are ahead of him.

Wow this post really exemplifies how pathetic he is......drafted in the first round as purely a pass catching TE, in what's now a pass catching league in nothing but pass happy offenses in almost 5 seasons he's still behind a TE drafted in 1970 who only played about 7 seasons with the Giants. Those other guys blocked too . Fair thee well EE....the Matchup Nightmare.....whether you get dealt early or fade into Free Agency.

Technically he's not in his 5th season of games played so there is still a lot more playing time for him to get there..

What other fan bases do you spend time at?? Asking for a friend. I remember back in (I think it was) 2004, the Red Sox had a shortstop named Pokey Reese. He was something like 0 for his last 50 and he steps up to the plate and the fans gave him a huge ovation....trying to get him out of his slump. Now THOSE are fans.
There is nothing wrong with Evan Engram's work ethic or character. The word is that he works his ass off and is a great teammate. His one problem is that he has more drops than many other TE's in the league.
But in the world of NY Giant fandom....he's Satan. He's some kind of villain.
He'll probably end up somewhere else and do very well.

When a player is more detrimental to his own team than the opposition villainization is warranted. I just find it funny that posters in this thread continue to defend the guy after watching him play. As a Giant I root for Evan Engram every....single....week......but reality sets my expectations very low.....and more often than not he fails to meet those lowly expectations.

That's not what was asked but thanks for the response.. He's not liked due to his performance on the field since all that other stuff doesn't matter without that performance..

I mean if you're saying by average person standards he's a good football player then yea him and everyone else in the NFL are the best on the planet but if you're saying he's a good NFL player then I don't know what to tell you......I guess we have drastically different standards. I asked the question earlier in this thread that no one gave a straight answer to except for Moe...... What is one thing Evan Engram does well?Running fast in a straight line is currently the best and only real answer. He can't block well, he can't catch well, he runs terrible routes, he gets no separation from slow footed LB's and can't out muscle smaller DB's. I'm really not being sarcastic when I ask the question what does he do well as an NFL TE?

He's an above average pass catching TE. He would probably do a lot better with a team that used him better.

What team doesn't worry about a TE who drops pass's? Pretty sure the Giants would use him more if he could block and catch.

Absolutely. He's had his rough patches but if they would use him properly he would be much more productive.

He is the 40th ranked TE in the league, has 0 TDs and averaging less than 9 yards per catch with 171 total yards. His career catch percentage is 61. He isn't a redzone threat, doesn't do contested catches, and has hands of stone. Also, the Giants are 100 percent not signing him long turn. Probably having trouble getting a 5th for this dynamic bust....err...TE...
