Haha!!! Isn’t this his 2nd stint with Washington? Weird that he’s finally coming into his own. Maybe the difference was coaching. Maybe. Or maturity.

Our OL is a good run blocking unit for Booker. Some how. They can't see to make it work for Barkley. Definitely not a vision issue. Cant be thatYA already told us everything we need to know about Barkley. He's not what we're selling. Booker had a greta game against one of the worst run defenses in the NFL the Raiders no one this year ran great behind this OL last year after game 8 with jones as a threat Gallmen made some hey the OL was a better run blocking unit. with Lemuix Gates Zietler and Flemming who was good in the run game this is not apples to apples . Booker is power RB who is decisive in the pocket. Not a good athlete, at al. SB is a scat back with bad vision, would rather avoid contract, but is great in space. Great athlete, poor vision And everything else is just opinion

Great athlete, poor vision And everything else is just opinion Nah Booker is a good back and many here questioned our signing of him, Barkely isn't a scat back he runs with power and speed in the open field and has been pushing the pile of late but now or expert panel is saying he doesn't make anything happen, Can't have it both ways he either Looks for space and gets gobbled up or he hits the whole and gets 1 to 3 yards, our OL was ok last year well now we are playing with the 3rd string it aint close. If you watched Washington last night their play design on screens is awesome guys have no one around them and they get going WRs carry their guys down field and sell it then start blocking, , the runs there are creases and holes there is none of that here, Barkely wasn't the right choice, but it is BS narrative that he is average and doesn't run hard, on his long runs he breaks more tackles then some guys in a month, His stiff arm is nasty, I won't crush a guy because he is hurt or because of who drafted him or where he was drafted, he was the at the time between #1 and 3 in his draft he is a talented back probably top three in that category, don't know where all the hate comes from but it's pretty dumb wanna call him injury prone thats true, average ok or soft that is horse shit you don't come back off a high ankle in 3 weeks being soft. He did the right thing this time thought about himself and listen to the doctors it was clear his ankle was injured pretty seriously. He gets a lot of shit from fans funny the GMs aren't willing to sign him that were interviewed but aren't willing to let him go either.

If this is solely a Barkley issue then if he wants to last in this league here or elsewhere, he'd be wise to explore the Lasik surgery Tiki had. Also if he feels he is being used incorrectly in the offensive scheme as it relates to his RB talents then he needs to speak up to the coaches and in the RB room. Barkely didn't have the success he had as a rookie because he was lucky or average or just OK, it was because he created those yards that was a bad OL as well he didn't get big holes to run through, he has been injured and even injured in year 2 he gave them 1400 all purpose yards and 7TDS. He will not get resigned but I won't be surprised if what Ranaans guys think happens if he stays healthy franchise him to death lot of money but only 1 year commitments. One just needs to look back at Barkleys college career to see the man was a rock and never got hurt. The pros are different and IMO he hasn't a clue on how to handle being hurt ,it's something he needs to learn and how to handle and play with .

Would it be crazy to try Barkley as a kick returner to get him some open field views to build his confidence?

I would play Booker over Barkley. I would really love to use them both, with Barkley coming off the bench and moved around, but that doesn't seem to be the Giants plan. When Barkley plays, he gets almost all the snaps. playing Barkley over Booker who has been a lot more productive IMO tells me that where a player is drafted makes a big difference...

I cant necessarily disagree with the sentiment, but I do think the scheme and attention from the defense should be taken into consideration when comparing Barkley to those who have been his back up. In games where Barkley has not played, and Toney now to a lesser extent, the Giants seem to have a more simplified game plan. More power runs with extra blockers, and less backfield motion and trickery. It's almost like they are overthinking how they use Barkley. Teams are also much more likely to throw an extra defender or two in the box to defend Barkley in a run formation than with Gallman or Booker back there. Either way, let Barkley play out his contract and let him walk. I dont think any rb is worth a huge contract, and certainly not Barkley from what we've seen. Resigning him to a Zeke-like deal would be way more ill advised than drafting him at number 2. if the Giants go by what Barkley is accomplishing on the field then I also think they should let him walk or be traded rather than give a big contract just based on his name and not his performance...

I just thought maybe we can give him a chance to see some open field because our oline.....well you know lol

On his one big run he showed the burst from the past maybe he can get it back.

When Barkley plays, he gets almost all the snaps. playing Barkley over Booker who has been a lot more productive IMO tells me that where a player is drafted makes a big difference... But he hasn't been a lot more productive. He's been equally productive or less productive. Look at their game splits. Booker quite literally had one solid game against the Raiders, and I thought he caught the ball well against the chiefs. I like him, and it looks like Kitchens wanted to use them both on the field at the same time, which I also like. Say what you want about Barkley and his draft position and his injury woes...D. Booker is a good 2nd back to have, but he has not been more productive than Saquon. Both backs are only limited within their respective skillsets by our offensive line. Most negative runs or yards before first contact are the result of an oline's run blocking ability and a little bit playcalling. The difference is, with a decent run blocking unit, Barkley is going to spring many more big runs, and even if he had a few more negatives than Booker, the explosive plays will outweigh that every time. This is just not a competent run blocking unit. We don't have a RB with a single 100 yard day this year. I also don't get the vision knocks on Barkley, much of his 32 yard gain was pure vision the other day. He had just broken the 2nd level and quite literally saw he could make a sharp jump cut and accelerate to the corner. The run gained 26 more yards than it would have with a back like Booker or Gallman. And the best part about was that it was a relatively inside run by design and once he gained the yards the play is designed for, his vision, power, and explosiveness led to the other yards.

If he wants longevity and production in the NFL he needs to throw out the player he was in college and become a pro. He needs to: - learn to pass protect. This more than anything else is holding him back. He is not NFL-level in his protection. He is a liability and there is no excuse. He is a huge and strong guy. - run behind his pads. Low, with forward lean ahead of the knees. every fall forward should net a yard or two. Think Ahmad Bradshaw. - study the film and develop his vision. Look at the opportunities being missed with the constant search for the outside run. - consider approaching the coaches to say he wants to be used in ways that maximize his abilities and that he is ok with less touches if it means using him in a more surgical way. Barkley needs to decide what kind of player he wants to be. If he wants to be an every down back he has a long way to go. And that is a dying breed anyway so perhaps a different goal should be set. Barkley relies too much on his instincts. He needs to study how to be a pro RB.

I think the ship has passed for him to "learn" some of these very important traits to become a serviceable NFL running back..

He had a bad game last game before the ankle he was grading out average or above in pass pro, I find it hard to believe that he doesn't do these things for him it is health he needs to stay on the field, between last year and this year he never got all the way back that long run was the closest I have seen, he was running by people and on the other runs he was hitting the gap think for him it is more patience letting blocks develop, don't think it will happen with this OL right now tho wait or press the hole and your gone. He has 1 more year they might tag him after if he stays healthy and produces, talented players have come here to die on the vine the last 7 or 8 years OBJ got ruined here Barkely is well on his way. I would take the all tor nothing rookie version 15TDs and 2000 yards that makes the 1 yard gains acceptable.

I am not against them giving up on him but idf he is out there to sign anywhere the NFC east will line up fro him they all have good run blocking OLs. most of the league will.

All of his issues are attributed to that. If he was able to stay healthy for any stretch and maintain some consistency, he'd be able to put these issues to rest. I don't know that he'll ever stay healthy, though.

It is honestly hard to judge any player on this team. I think the coaching at all levels/positions is totally subpar, especially on offense. I can see Barkley going to another team and becoming an all-pro. This team is ruining players.

I too was laughing at the excuses.. This team blows so bad that all there is to discuss is potential for players and a million excuses why they aren't good!!

If you consider injuries to be excuses. When healthy...He's been pretty bad this year. Last year, before he got hurt, he was awful as well.

If you consider injuries to be excuses. When healthy...He's been pretty bad this year. Last year, before he got hurt, he was awful as well. My point was that after not playing or practicing for a year, he was never near 100% this season. He was starting to get there before he got hurt again. As far last year, there were OL issues, but you have a point about him not being effective. Bottom line, the story on Barkley is he's injury prone.
