Good player and probably our best O-Lineman, but it had to be done with our cap situation. Hopefully can find a quality replacement cheap. Or maybe they’re rolling with Hernandez and Lemieux

I completely get it and I have no problem with it. But let's be clear, we were in the position where we had to release our best O lineman.
From a pure football point of view, this hurts our O line quite a bit. It doesn't make us better. We had to cut Zeitler, in order to keep Leo. So this is a clearly negative impact on our rebuilding football team.

I cant wait to hear all the crying how our OL is the issue again next year if/when DJ and SQB are struggling to find space...
Zeitler was our best OLineman. Really tough to swallow this and think we are headed in the right direction...
Ill say it again, DG should have been fired a long time ago. He just keeps burying this team.

I'm not sure it was the right move, but with the way the CAP has shaken out, it was practically one of the handful of remaining moves that could make...

When you are forced to cut your best O lineman, there is a functional problem with the football team. I know it had to be done but it's the fact THAT it had to be done that troubles me.

I don't know why any Giants fan would be happy about this move. Pure cap casualty and not based on performance. This move makes me not like DG a little bit more....

I would have liked them to have work it out but I get why it happened.

I don't think he is going anywhere.... 6m is significant considering the current state. I don't see Soldier being penciled in as the starting RT at all unless he takes a major paycut, bc even then Peart and Flemming were more serviceable then that guy was in 2019 and he's been a year out of football thats a big deal. They can use that money to get other help on the line or resign Flemming idk.. but I can't see Soldier staying around.. Although he is a good character guy, so I won't be shocked.

OOF
sucks that we had to get rid of our most consistent OL, but due to cap restrictions we HAD to make this move
Who knows, maybe we can re-sign and restructure him. Or would we have to pick up where we left off salary-wise instead of signing him to a whole new deal.
This makes Wyatt Davis from Ohio St and Creed Humphrey from Oklahoma seem much more intriguing in the 2nd round, because I dont know how how much confidence I have in Lemieux and Hernandez as our starting guards... I guess that could work if we had a SOLID RT, but we dont.
Maybe we draft Rashawn Slater, start him at RT with Hernandez and Lemieux as OG's and if 1 of them cant hang, move Slater inside and start Peart?

Let’s think Kyle Murphy ( G ).
Or, draft a guard in the 2nd / 3rd round,

DJ should be thrilled he's actaulyl getting another chance to prove he can actually QB effectively in the NFL.. that said. Gettlemen had one main job coming here.. to rebuild the o-line.. Hasn't happened and this certainly doesn't help.

Completely not true. Zeitler was coming off his worst season. He was still the best O lineman on the team. The best in an OL of 4 rookies... He might've been the worst in 2021.

I mean if they can find away to get legit help at the WR position they can easily draft some good oline guys early in the draft. Or their intent is oline help before WR in the draft all along anyway.

So as of now, outside of all the other needs this team has, we have to hope Thomas steps up at LT, figure out whats up with Hernandez at RG or if its Lemieux there, Gates at C works, a question at RG and a question at RT.
Sounds promising for a young QB to get over the hump.

Yeah they had no choice what so ever with the current cap situation! Solid Guard but not worth the money he was due to make. They can find a much Cheaper Alternative if they're not confident that Will Hernandez and Shane Lemieux can develop
