What the hell has happened to this franchise?
We’re on our 2nd GM, 4th HC, and we still have an inept offensive line.

Sure, he had his share of blame to carry, but I'm still convinced he could've been great 2016,17,18 if that goddamn OL was fixed. Thank God we didn't draft Darnold. That being said, this franchise is an outright laughing stock right now. It will take years of playoff appearances and a SB victory to climb out of this pit of despair.

Some were blaming Eli. others were blaming TC, I was blaming JR lol.
All of them gone and deep problems remain.
I do think that the OL sets the tone for everything. If they win their physical battles, that controls the clock and more good things than bad usually follow.
I track the demise of this team back to the aging out of our last really good OL. We knew it was coming. Most of them were of similar ages and yet......
We failed to get ahead of it and the few high picks we used on the OL ALL turned out to be duds or worse.
Beatty.....good at best but injured a lot and couldn't move a defender back if his life depended on it. 3rd and short we are not running to the left. Pugh.........more worthy of a mid round pick and an underwhelming Giant. Richburg, same as Pugh only injured more. Flowers.....horrendous.
Meanwhile, mid-round picks and FA, UDFA all flopped.
You can't screw up that many top picks on one unit and expect to be competitive.
And so, here we are. Same ole, same ole....

I dont think we blamed Eli for a last place defense. However Eli was done in 2017 but fans took time to catch on to that.

3 new players including 2 rookies at their positions. Running the football is the most fundamental part of football. Can't do that, you can't do anything.

Yea, I'm not part of that camp. I was never Eli's biggest fan, but ended up becoming one of his biggest defenders over the last few years. Our OL did him no favors his last 8 years.
I do think they've shown improvement, at least in pass protection. Jones seems to have time more often than not, and Thomas looks to be as advertised. With as bad as Fleming has been, I'd like to get Peart in there to see what he's got at RT.

He was good enough to win 2 SB and elevate his game in both runs.

He was Royalty and was kept on the Roster longer then he should have been. The GM’s tried to say we weren’t in rebuilding mode when we definitely should have been. We tried to create a win now team selecting a Running Back #2. No rebuilding team does that without beefing up the trenches first.

This team just is severely undermanned on the roster and it is being built with a strategy that is 12+ years outdated.

If we know this why didn’t the Giants Organization. Converting Gates to Center was/is idiotic. You could have had an average Free agency Center signed that would have produced better results.

The 49ers defense slamming him to the ground every play. He truly was Elite

LOL I said from the start protect the man and he will be fine or at least run the ball. That said we don't know what this OL is gonna be they need to have some time together new center new QB and line calls could be part of the problem. I will give them time to learn together not ready to throw dirt on theses guys yet. Think Thomas is way better then Flowers Hernandez even when struggling is better then John Jerry Center if it works out is gonna take time, I actually think that is the lynch pin for that interior. I hate it but the reality is that we have a first time coach theres going to be growing pains even BB and Parcels had them a new OL more growing pains no offseason more growing pains. Gettlemen will probably lose his job but that doesn't mean the next guy will struggle there are piece in place.

Ok these obviously are all hypothetical because we don’t know if we could have gotten them or not. 1. Matt Paradis went to Panthers 2 Mitch Morse went to the Bills Draft. Try and trade up for Cushenberry Or grabbed Biadasz We haven’t had a good center in a Decade and the longest one has been on our team is 2 years since then

Pass blocking is suprisingly not that bad. Jones had something like 2+ seconds to throw the ball this week. The oline is improved.. Gates has been better than halipio and whoever, Thomas has been better than Soldier. Flemming has been worse than remmers, but its getting better. Run blocking no excuse.

Allen or Jackson appear to be the picks of that draft. I definitely believed Eli was a part of the problem since 2013. I now see a different player in Daniel Jones. Last year I saw a guy who was aggressively looking downfield. Now I see that get the ball out of your hands that we saw from Eli towards the end.
