NFL Network running the America’s Game Marathon and I’m watching the 1986 Giants. Just got done watching the 1985 Bears. All I can do is shake my head. I miss these teams so much. The coaching speeches, the player attitudes. Nothing “ME” first. I don’t care what people say…it was A LOT different. It makes me think, man, watching these kids on Sundays these days is almost like a friggin chore. I cringe when I think what we are in store for this year when we got guys like Toney that are going to come out on the field. Like I said, all I do these days is hang my head….with the memories of what we had once, and looking at these jackass kids now. Whether we like it or not, these players are representing us and our team looks like a trash organization because of it. A lot of mouth…a lot of antics and dropped passes. Just an embarrassment. Coaches come here and act and talk tough, but they ain’t disciplinarians for real. And these young players don’t have the respect for the authority….all they know is money.

Oh man.....you're at it again. This is the same stuff I'd hear my grandpa say watching games in 1990. On at least one occasion LT did an 8 ball of coke before a game....after partying all night and not sleeping. The 85 Bears made a cheesy rap video that made bitter old men cringe in the same way you are now. Deion Sanders was about as 'flashy/look at me' as it gets. He was also one of the greatest players of all time. How about Dave Megget and Mark Ingram from back then....they turned out to be pretty upstanding citizens after their careers yeah? I mean, why wouldn't they? All the people that played in the nfl back then were perfect. It sounds like you're just grumpy, bitter, and out of touch.

Everybody you just mentioned pulled their weight and put it all on the line. The old saying is put up or shut up, no? I don’t hang my head because of good football players. Yet, I will agree that personal off field issues are a tragedy in some cases.

Coaches word was final….there was no “Waaaa…it’s not fair!” The only thing that comes closest to that is Sweetness just being upset because he didn’t get to do anything significant in the SuperBowl. The Pats game planned against him and Ditka realized it. But he didn’t bitch and stomp his feet. Same thing with the Williams and Gibbs thing. These guys today are a bunch of crybabies. If Parcells were our coach these days this team would be in a lot of trouble. Can’t utilize these guys for nothing!

Because of the shit we are now! its a new season. Dont hang your head until you have to...lol This is what I'm thinking. It's a new season with promise for the first time in years. And next years season looks even brighter to me. There is light at the end of the tunnel. I feel we learn to win this season and next year we come like a runaway locomotive. I think were coming on strong as this season goes on. I like Toney and I love Ojulari and am so hopeful for him. I wanted him with our 1st rd pick at #20. I loved him on highlights and his straight arm on the outside pass rush. If this guy can come up with some sort of spin move to the inside from that outside LBer spot watch out. "Cause when this baby hits exactly 88 mph, WATCH OUT". (Forgive me I was watching "Back to the Future" with my grandsons) This year reminds me of finally drafting enough good young players and then adding a half dozen good vets and it actually looks as though it's coming together finally under the right coach. There will be no head hanging going into this year. Jones and Saquon need to stay healthy all year, as does our defensive starters. I feel were going to be a tough physical team. Hell we competed in almost every game last year with a much less talented team. Watch out 2021 here we come.

Compared to the average Joe yes. Compared to their peers not so much. Remember, the top ten picks used to set the bar for veteran contracts that is not the case anymore with the rookie wage scale. The NFL pays on performance and potential not experience.

Beckham is not the reason we lost. Meggett and Engram and a lot of those guys from the 80's would’ve lost with those team also. And the 80's team would’ve won with Beckham.

Even though you are right, the game is soft as a baby's ass now, this is some straight grandpa telling us about the walk to school up hill in snow both ways type stuff.
Those days are GONE.
LT would be a average in today's game due to him being suspended for anything he used to do.
I even miss the 2007 Giants defense to be honest. Strahan, Tuck, Osi, Kiwi, Toll coming in hot.

I listen to the coaches speak and the players respond on all the teams and I begin to feel bad. Because we are ass and nobody looks like they are ready to step up and be an example. It doesn’t look like anyone is interested in football or winning. It looks like they love themselves too much to worry about what others feel. The paying fans. The players are like…just shut up and pay me. I still hold our team to the old standards and that is where I am wrong I guess. I don’t feel the same about players now like I did about the old guys. I don’t even particularly even want to like them. They don’t show me any reason. Maybe I just shouldn’t watch I guess.

Where have you read from anyone covering the Giants that the team isn't paying hard? The effort was 100% last year, that's the main thing Judge has going right now. Sometimes you're just not good enough. Fans aren't owed a champion contender every year. You take the bad years with the good ones. That's what makes a real fan. Especially for this franchise.

I don’t buy that for a second. Lawrence had his demons, no question. However, when he was suspended twice, one more and he would have been banned for life. He stayed clean the rest of his career. Read his books, he couldn’t wait to retire and get back to the drugs. In today’s game, he would have adapted. Legendary players normally do. Now, the quarterbacks he would be facing on a weekly basis. They would all be contemplating retiring early. In part, to the maniac linebacker wrecking their livelihood every game.

As a fellow Marine I have a tatoo of your call sign on my right bicep don't be so down or sad on the 4th of July. This is a proud day for all of us. ( no matter what some people say). Talk yourself out of the funk get back ready to fight. 3 weeks till camp opens. Be ready to go. We are going to be improved this year, nobody knows how much. But we are going to be better and tougher. This I know. This could be the 4th NY Giant reawakening in my years as a Giant fan ...... When I grew up the Y.A. Tittle era the 60's what great teams, Then the 80's with LT and Simms, strong tough teams. Then the Eli 2 SB's era, magical. Here we come again lets see where we end up. Not as strong as those teams but climbing up the ladder. Peaks and valleys jarhead, peaks and valleys. Like combat, keep moving foward don't stop. Big Blue is coming hard this season. Get aboard you deserve to see it. You put in the grunt work of being a Big Blue fan don't miss the climb to glory. Be There ! Meet you at the top.

If I ran a 4.89 at CB coming out of college in 1980 what is there to brag about?? Let me just blend in.
If I ran a 4.2 in 1989 I'm talking all my s***, each and every week,, cause I know nobody can stop me 🤷🏿♂️
.. or I can take the Jerry Rice route.
Duality.
