If I'm the Giants think as far as moving up to any of these top 3 picks has just gotten a lot harder with Minnesota now holding 11 and 23 they have 2 firsts to offer no seconds tho. I'm not sure if signing Lock has taken Fields out of play but that would have been a pretty decent play he can move and has all the arm Penix has and more. he has more arm than the others Nix McCarthy problem is he needs to play and prove he is worth the option. Pickens are slimmer than people think I don't want them trying to get back up into the first wasting valuable assets for a guy who can't evade the rush in Penix or a guy like Nix, if McCarthy is there and we don't have to give up assets or any of the top 3 I'm good. If not I would rather have fFelds than anyone who would be left. Unless they think they develop a Rattler or Pratt and get them in the 3rd or 4th rd I see the top 3 spoken for already. They all need quarterbacks. Chicago is going QB Washington traded their starter New England traded their starter Guesing AZ is going Harrison who is their new Fitzgerald It comes down to San Diego. And if the Chargers want a player they can add draft capital AND get the player they want by swapping with the Giants If Minny moves up to the Chargers, the Chargers will likely lose their target Makes sense I'm not sure this if they can get 11 and 23 in teh first thats gold in this particular draft being it fails pretty fast and the first and second RDs are loaded.

It takes more to that to be a good QB, and Lock hasn't been. Jones has never been challenged in his 6 years, which I'm sure that's the motivation behind this signing. It's a smart move and I expect Daboll will keep an open mind. It should bring the best of out of both QB's. Like I said, I expect some type of QB competition. I just don't think it will be much of one... I'll be rooting for the rookie. I agree our offense is dead in the water until the QB position uses the whole field and as of now they no longer have Barkley to eat up a couple of guys and have people working about him in the run or pass game. Dan + Drews jobs just got that much harder. Like I said , this should bring the best out of both players. Maybe Jones lets it all go and starts throwing it with less caution with his job on the line. Maybe Lock takes it to the next level in what is likely his last shot at a starting job.

I said that Jones needs to throw all caution to the wind and let the ball go if they go 1-16 he's gone if he throws 3000 yds and 15 TDs and runs of 5 and they go 9-8 he's gone year six he needs to win with his arm. Lock will be a stop gap unless if he gets his chance and he lights it up from the little he played in Seattle he has improved not sure if thats good enough to be a starter. Giants better have a plan A /B /andC as far as QB goes they need one either a rookie or a young vet like Fields that more than likely hits the trade market.

The Giants sure strongly affirming to the league that they are done with Daniel Jones. Or, is this just them masterfully blowing smoke... During smoke season? Colin Kaepernick new QB#1? He's only been out of the league for 8 years but he still works out! This is our best chance to get rid of Jones! The best part about your post is how often you forget that a construction worker from Jersey was better than Jones at QB last year. A UDFA in the draft, haha. Tell you what, when the Giants draft their QB. Don't disappear.

The hilarious part is you're unable to see that the organization is done with him. He's going to be an excellent clip board holder one day. He is to QBs, what you are as a Giants poster. Low IQ, no confidence, but generally a likeable personality/harmless. An upgrade over Gunner, for sure

Dunning-Kruger Effect:Definition - The Dunning-Kruger effect is a type of cognitive bias in which people believe they are smarter and more capable than they are. Essentially, low-ability people do not possess the skills needed to recognize their own incompetence. The combination of poor self-awareness and low cognitive ability leads them to overestimate their capabilities. So what explains this psychological effect? Are some people simply too dense to recognize it? Dunning and Kruger suggest that this phenomenon stems from what they refer to as a "dual burden." People are not only incompetent; their incompetence robs them of the mental ability to realize just how inept they are. Incompetent people tend to: Overestimate their skill levels Fail to recognize the genuine skill and expertise of other people Fail to recognize their own mistakes and lack of skill The very knowledge and skills necessary to be good at a task are the same qualities that a person needs to recognize that they are not good at that task. So if a person lacks those abilities, they remain not only bad at that task but ignorant of their inability.
Synopsis -
Basically, everyone here thinks they are a GM and could fix our issues without knowing anything about all the details involved. They aren't GMs so they don't understand the complexity and think it's as simple as moving on from Jones. We wouldn't have won 2 SBs with Eli if these board experts ran things so let them ramble, it's not their fault, they're just frustrated and recency bias (success of other teams) leads them to believe we just have to copy the blueprint of others...which is probably the quickest route to becoming the worst team in the league
Dunning-Kruger - that's Mara's nephew isn't it?
Seriously though, what's your position on Daniel Jones? From the attacks I've seen on your position I'm assuming you believe he's going to be here past next year?
lol at the mara's nephew part... As for Jones... I've been on both sides of the fence far too many times. Despite the majority believing I'm a Jones defender....I was pretty much over Jones being an "elite" QB after 2020 but still thought he could be serviceable.. Let's break down the timeline 1. October 23 2018 - My initial concern before Jones arrived was that the team was dog ****. It was and never helped Jones develop properly... thegiantsboard.proboards.com/thread/1537/new-qb-excuses2. November 4 2019 - My concern grew as this team had no identity or any formula for success - from players to coaching...nothing inspired "hope" for me...that included Jones, who in his defense had no "go-to guy" or anybody that would help the offense get in rhythm (which I believe Jones is at his best when he's in a rhythm...which was also a "weakness" of his coming into the draft as he didn't perform well if he can't get going early...but when he does, his confidence allows him to make plays that we thought he couldn't...(ex. end of 2022-playoffs....aside from Eagles game obviously lol) thegiantsboard.proboards.com/thread/4980/lacking-identity3. Jan 8 2021 - I referred to Jones as Eli Manning without the clutch...and foolishly claimed he was on-par with Cousins...but at this point I understood that Jones was a player that will make you say WTF ...A LOT...but can also have moments when you wonder where that quality of play has been consistently... thegiantsboard.proboards.com/post/458345/thread 4. Nov 22 2021 - I had lost complete faith in the 3 fudge bars - Joe Fudge, Jason garret, and Jones himself...I was done...it was time to move on for me ...in 2021!...I was a Jones' "hater" before it was cool. ha. thegiantsboard.proboards.com/thread/9878/fudge-bars-joe-danny-jason5. Jan 7 2022 - I realized at this stage that this organization had further descended from rock bottom in my (2019 rant) to below hell. We brought in losers from coaches to players and really how do you expect losers to win ? I started retracting my disdain for Jones while looking at the complete dysfunction he was surrounded by ... coaching changes, poor concepts, etc.. I'm was willing to see what the new coaching change had in store... thegiantsboard.proboards.com/thread/10326/prestigious-embarrassing-nygs-lost-mentality6. July 29, 2022 - After studying the good...I felt as if it greatly outweighed the bad in Jones. I saw enough positive traits to where I was fully on-board and ready to see what he could do with winners on the staff...A man of composure and will as I called him before the 2022 year. Mind you, this was at 11:54 PM and I distinctly remember creating this thread while I was drunk but it made me feel good and I did ponder over deleting it the next morning but left it cuz who cares... thegiantsboard.proboards.com/thread/11258/composure-daniel-jones-unsung-hero7. Feb 17, 2023 (after our demoralizing loss to PHI) I posted a comedic thread about Jones...at this point, I was not in-love with Jones but I did like the progress he made and was ready to see him get some more play makers by his side.... now after 2022, I decided to refrain from jumping on either side of the fence and understood he was our QB...so hope for the best with him and somewhat troll the haters with level-headed jabs as to why it's not "over" for Jones thegiantsboard.proboards.com/thread/12659/guys-wanna-lose8. Aug 23, 2023 - My "trolling" of the Jones haters continues and I start the "Jones in the NFC Mahomes" thread...and I really did have higher expectations for him last year and felt like Daboll was actually limiting his potential...by telling Jones to play "safe". thegiantsboard.proboards.com/thread/13333/daniel-jones-nfc-mahomes 9. October 4th 2023 - At this point, I was a firm believer that Jones drop in production was related to Daboll. Let's say Daboll was being "2-faced", telling Jones to only take what's given to him but yet coitizing him for not taking a risky deep shot etc. I truly believe this is related to the Wink Saga. Daboll rubbed me the wrong way this year, appearing to appoint blame when players/coaches do what he asked and then questioning why they didn't go against his instruction... thegiantsboard.proboards.com/thread/13670/daboll-tell-jones10. Fast forward March 8 2024 - present - My stance is now Jones is a limited QB at times but has certain traits that do standout to me, that do give me reason to believe he's still a franchise QB. He's had a tough road to sled and a huge hill to climb in his time here...With that said, I can't help but also wonder if he has been "broken" ala David Carr etc through all of this. I'm content with Jones for another year and would truly like to see him get a full year in with the progress the team overall has made... thegiantsboard.proboards.com/thread/14507/daniel-jonesNow some last points that may clear up my standing... - I'm not "stuck" on Jones and wasn't against going after Wilson (Discussed grabbing him the last 3 years) - I don't believe Jones is a MVP caliber player or ever will be - I don't believe Jones is "bad" - I don't believe it can't get worse at QB then Jones, quite the contrary, I think it could be a lot worse. - I don't believe that Tyrod and Devito "outplayed" him last year...especially when you look at what he accomplished in the Cards game - I'm not thrilled that he runs the football...I am against running QBs in general...I don't even like 3-5 times a game...though it can be useful in certain spots - His injury history is probably my biggest concern - I will NEVER have a firm understanding of my stance on Jones until he has a #1 WR...like a guy that will take the game over and beat double/triple coverage - Lastly, Daniel Jones has my full support until he directly causes the decline of the team/seson, which I don't believe he has to this point. Hope that clears it up a bit...I'm basically a supporter until he hurts the team (Eli's last couple years) and a sub-par troll to the haters...

I see the top 3 spoken for already. They all need quarterbacks. Chicago is going QB Washington traded their starter New England traded their starter Guesing AZ is going Harrison who is their new Fitzgerald It comes down to San Diego. And if the Chargers want a player they can add draft capital AND get the player they want by swapping with the Giants If Minny moves up to the Chargers, the Chargers will likely lose their target This is how I see it too. Pick 5 is the sweet spot. the possible good news, Keenan Allen is gone so they may want the better receiver.

The Giants didn't even say anything here, some other teams GM said something that he (maybe) thinks the Giants said to his former player...according to some other guy on twitter. Long story short if they are done with Jones they should draft a QB if they like one. If not then move on with Lock. Personally I think signing Lock has more to do with A) them not being 100% sure Jones can start the year and B) being concerned about Jones' injuries. And C, Jones isn't good anyways. Lock will unfortunately compete with DJ for the QB1 role, but it doesn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy. He is another QB2... And he is no Baker Mayfield. Last year we should have signed Baker. Too expensive for a mid.

Lock was a FA, why wouldn't he just promise the same thing?

LOL Lock put all the starter talk to rest, he said the only thing he was told is he will get a lot of reps In the camps this year and that Jones is the starter, he also said he has no idea where schneider got that he thought he was competing to start.
Last he said he has great relationship going back to the senior bowl they were roomie's.

Its a LOCK hez the starter game 1
Unless...
He gets injured in camp, Jones gets a papercut and is not projected to start until November and the Jersey Goodfella was snatched from the PS by the Panthers in late Aug.....
Then.....
Riding in from the Sunset a lone figure from out west cruises into town wearing a blue tinted ten gallon hat. Gets off his steed, takes over the reigns and the LEGEND of (future HoFer) DAVIS WEBB is born... Then proceeds to throw 45 TDs runs for 10 more and leads the G-men to the PROMISE LAND

They were too strapped on cash to trade for a good QB, if one was even available. This is the level that was available and affordable to the team. Another B level starter. They couldnt afford a Kirk Cousins or Baker Mayfield. I think they know they painted themselves into a corner with this contract. They still might move up in the draft or draft at QB at 6. And if they do, that's the Hail Mary for Dabs to save his job here. That QB needs to come out on fire and show promise to be the future. Then Dabs might stick around They can still create another $30m in cap space and if they thought someone like Cousins could come in and win they could have done that. I think we would both agree that this team is not a QB away from being in the SB.
I think you're right that if they went QB in the 1st round of the draft he better be a killer from the start. His best bet is to go win games with Jones/Lock. He won 6 games last year with a decimated team, and could easily have won 3 more. I believe them when they say the biggest issue were injuries.

Unless Jones is injured there is almost zero chance Lock beats him out. This is coming from a Lock fan btw. yeah but we all know that it's not always that a player is playing because he beat someone out lol........... Jones is recovering from an ACL tear and has always gotten hurt. There's a pretty good chance Lock starts here at some point whether he wins the job straight up or not lol.

A lot of it hinges on our O Line. If the guys we signed stay healthy, same with Neal, and JMC improves incrementally, we'll do much better. if not, it will be the same shit show we saw last year.

Only in Giants land can a GM sign a QB to $50 mil contract…then turn around the next season and bring in someone for $5mil…and tell them they have a chance to start. 🤦♂️ Taking inflation into consideration: Seahawks, Matt Flynn and Russell Wilson.

I wouldn't be shocked if the giants are trying very hard t get that number 1 pick. I doubt Chicago moves on but, you have to image the giants are trying. Washington is dead set on a new QB, I have to think the Patriots are as well to. Vikings/Broncos all need a future QB among others. So you need to worry about the swooping in to land a guy you like. This giants QB position is a disaster If I'm the Giants think as far as moving up to any of these top 3 picks has just gotten a lot harder with Minnesota now holding 11 and 23 they have 2 firsts to offer no seconds tho. Unless they think they develop a Rattler or Pratt and get them in the 3rd or 4th rd Fields makes sense only bc we're at 6 and need a qb. He's young still and tons of room for growth if dabes thinks he could get it out of him i'd be all on board. Not sure what they do, but I can't see how they go into this season with DJ and Lock, so i'm prepared for anyone and i'll be on board bc I have faith in daboll

Daboll and Schoen gave him $40m a year, do you really think they seen anything last year that they didn't see the year before that made them think Jones can't succeed with them? Lock is a young kid with some good arm talent that's loads better than Devito.
There is a very real chance those are our two rostered QBs next year.
